If you're into the mind-melding mix of horror, fairy tales, and the usual shenanigans of the Intrepid Heroes, you should prrrobably check out Dropout and watch the entire season. Dropout's only 6 bucks a month, pretty solid deal (and if you go annual, you basically get two months free)
I am obsessed with the character of The Stepmother. Just the clashing images of a cold, callous, and calculating noblewoman against an animalistic, devouring THING, on all fours, cannibalizing its own children down to the bone. Without a doubt, my favorite villain in Dimension 20 history.
The Stepmother is a masterclass in creating a horror villain. The art of her and the descriptions I got truly so upset. Inspired, jealous in that loving art way, and like. Oh no oh no.
@@hauz287 I’d figured it was something like the Wendigo, where committing canabalism in the most grotesque form turned her into something primordial with an appetite for flesh. Though I thought it would just be people or power she was hungry for, but if she’s and elder evil then it’s more likely she is devouring worlds. I wonder if there is a ritual or spell she used to transform herself, and if so how she got this knowledge, or if she was always like that by nature somehow.
"And then there I am, a man talking to a man, but I'm a mouse and he's really a bucket!" 😂 As brilliant as that line is on its own, what I love is how no one, not even Brennan, could keep an entirely straight face after he said it. Also how none of them, particularly Siobhan, knew exactly how to respond until Brennan's follow up "It'll drive you mad if you think about it!" God, I love these people. Cheers!
Really just a wonderful depiction of how all fairy tales, at their core, really are just deeply disturbing horror stories that have been, dare I say, Disneyfied over the centuries.
This is a god tier scene. Imagine being plucked from your simple experience and turned into something you have only feared and thinking and feeling concepts you didn't even know existed even talking to an inanimate object that was given the same situation. This Cthulhu level horror for mice.
Seeing Siobhan have to keep a straight face while roleplaying while Lou's ever widening rictus forming as he realizes whats happening brings me enormous joy.
Brennan has always been an ocean of a storyteller. He's just been kind enough to show us calm tides more often than the raging storm that he beholds beneath his every day demeanor.
The somewhat dark yet still funny tale from the mice is such a contrast to the downright horrific events that follow regarding Pinocchio and the door- it’s fantastic how quickly things shift
This really brought the humanity to the story, him talking as the Irish mice as if the moment was a horror. What really touches is the fact that he made it feel real, real as if it actually happened and it was carved in stone
Can't believe Brennan speaking in Irish accent is what finally made me subscribe to dropout 😂😂😍😍. I'm sooo looking forward to watch all the campaigns I wanted to watch 😭😭❤❤
I'll mention that he's doing a West Country (English) accent only to note the absolute wealth of accents within Ireland and the UK and how impressive it is for him to have so many non-native regional accents under his belt.
I'm reasonably sure the whole reason he's doing that voice in particular was so he could reference Samwise's line of "Please don't turn me into nothing unnatural!"
This is legit funny which I don't say about Fairytale parodies anymore. This had legit thought, coming to a conclusion about an aspect of a famous story that I never would've come up with myself. Meanwhile, the next time I get the umpteenth "joke" that's basically just saying "love at first sight is kinda problematic when really think about it" on television made by paid writers writing scripts that went through multiple iterations to get to that totally original subversion of expectation that doesn’t have similar examples going back at least one hundred fucking years... I'm going blow my brains out!
💜 This season is finally going to get me to buy a subscription for dropout. 💜 I've been thinking about it since the first episode. ETA - I did subscribe and I have 0 regrets, esp since I also discovered the Court of Fey & Flowers! 💜
The part that gets me the most is when the mice say that they were made to be servants. Not only did they have to go through such a horrific and grand shift, but they were made to want it too. They wanted to be servants. Absolutely chilling well done.

3:27 the silence always kills me, not one person at that table knows how to respond to the insanity that just came out of Brennan's mouth least of all Siobhan so Brennan has to pick the ball back up to keep the scene moving
As an Irish, I sure do love it when the go to accent for some lowly country mice is a crude imitation of what we talk like, like. I don’t expect a random American to get it perfectly but that’s not even what makes me mad when I hear it imitated, like. It’s more the implication that there’s something about us people that makes us a fitting go-to for rodents, like. I would literally prefer Julia Roberts if we were just one accent of many, used to build a world w a variety of accents and dialects, and could just as easily be the inspiration for the voice of a princess or a random adventurer, like. At the same time as a viewer I’d prefer to hear it as little as possible and so almost prefer it as is, like, but that’s pure selfish of me, and anyone else (except British people) could make the same claim, like, and then it would just be bland as all hell, like. Anyway I do be loving all the content youse put out when it doesn’t make my ears go right bleeding you know, like

Brennan would still narrate the mice like he did here even if it wasn't a horror campaign
*Mice and Murder approaches*
That means only one thing: he was meant for horror
Only a little less unhinged.
Adding now after the Rat-ettes bit in Fantasy High Junior Year, it got more unhinged
