Enjoyed this little clip I loved this little clip, I lived on Dudley Avenue in Venice beach and use to walk by the Cadillac hotel every day as it was at the end of my street. Jim use to hang out at the Ellison hotel/ apartments which was at speedway and the next street over.
The doors were vlogging, before it was a thing. I often wondered why more bands like the doors didn’t have a camcorder or some video camera recording “A day in the life of Jim Morrison” or Led Zeppelin behind the scenes. The legal/appropriate stuff of course.
The only even remotely portable video equipment at the time was 1/2" reel-to-reel black and white equipment. The costs were high and the quality not so good, and there were even interchangeability issues between brands. 3/4" "U" video equipment became available around 1972--too late for The Doors. But video equipment then was bulky and expensive. VHS and Beta in 1979 really opened the door for lightweight and affordable equipment for the masses. One must realize the miniaturized equipment we take for granted today wasn't available; 16 mm film equipment would have been the best way to capture bands back in the 1960s to late 1970s. With film equipment, a professional trained in the field would have been necessary, and such a person would not have come cheaply. Moreover, most bands would look at a camera as invasive of privacy if around very much.
one of the photographers on morrison hotel, henry diltz, was shooting promo footage after he had shot the stills for the album cover of the band through the morrison hotel window and inside hard rock cafe. there is a clip on youtube talking about it
More footage of the new heaven gig with sound or even just a sound recording would be amazing they have the arrest which is great but I'd love to his little blue man rant
Wow! All of us Doors fans never saw this film clip previously. Do you know who shot it? How did you resurrect it? How come this did not appear many years ago?
I've seen this before, but only now I noticed that Jim is limping in the last scene - perhaps because of his jump from the swing? Or has it something to do with his fall from the hotel balcony?
Looks like Venice beach...I think. Back then they didn't have homelessness -- or economic terrorism -- and that's why you're not seeing what you'd see there today.
Once it's on you tube, it's not rare. Rare are the 8 and 16 mm films when he visited his relatives in Melbourne and St Petersburg, Florida before he went to California.
Jim loves those swings.
Yeah. He made sure he went over the bar.
Never seen him move so fast.
@Richard Milliken I doubt that was possible.
Good landing as well
It's the ups and downs
I love seeing new footage
Priceless. One of the greatest and most mythical bands of all time.
Morrison going crazy on that swing is amusing. 😁
He was a child at heart - (like all geniuses)
@@wonder6789 but then we don't know whether the shooting camera altered his behaviour or not...
@@vinobodyseriously doubt it.

Jim's energy had to be on 24/7 - he couldn't help it.
He was kind of subdued often
he may have been fighting his impulses and over compensating for his erratic behaviour.@@notanotherjamesmurphy5574
So cool! I love Jim Morrison ❤️❤️
@@jimmorrison3756 hi and thank-you
I’am agree ❤
Imagine taking your kid to the playground and Jim Morrison & the Doors are there 🤯
Saw the guys in concert 3 times! Front row once. Knew Ray, met the other guys a few times...
Hi! Did you meet Jim too? Thanks!
Wow you lucky SOB!!! Wish I could have seen them! 😢
What concerts?
Would have loved to have met Ray. I am jealous 😅

Freddy Mercury did it.

Pretty sure it wasnt filmed .
Strange that how much ol jimbo was interested in film that not many of their concerts were recorded.

He walks like an old man.
Jim loved swinging.
What month & year ?
December 1969
It has been over 40 years since this footage of the doors
Try over 50. This is December of 1969.
@@doorswhofan ok I will
Ugh ! 50 years.
it looks better but it should be longer
Yer it's been cut down a bit, there is a longer clip out there but bad quality
Cool to see new silent footage of The Doors.
Grown man on a swing for kids looks a little adolescent
Everyone has an inner child.
He was only 20 something remember. I’ve seen people over 30 on swings .
Stay there Jim, its better there
I never see it.
It's Jim Morrison of the world famous music group the doors don't you know.
looks like it was filmed VERY early in the morning possibly just after daybreak
He couldn't get much higher..

Robby Krieger had the worst hair in all of rock and roll.

No way! That joker hair is way ahead of it's time and memorable. Jim had the sexiest hair in rock history too!
How about the guy from the Turtles? And that guy from MC5. Plus Leslie West of Mountain.
Nar.....Dave from Slade
Yeah, for sure - they shoulda got Pauly shore to play Robby in The Doors movie - he had that same wild kinky hair thing going.

Was waiting for the jump off the swing 😂👍
