This year we visited one of the residents, Eric Farrington, who sadly passed away last month. Before he passed, his favourite player Kenny Dalglish visited Eric to give him a big surprise...

And from a Manchester United fan, I thought this was absolutely brilliant and heartwarming, kenny dalglish is an absolute legend for sure and to me this is one of the best things about football, connecting people, it was great to see Eric beaming with delight, may he rest in peace

I'm not a Liverpool fan but have been an admirer of both the club and in particular two men, Bill Shankley and Kenny Dalglish, above all, for their integrity, who would have thought from a lad originally from Buenos Aires and a lifelong Boca Juniors fan. Congratulation to Eric, may he rest in peace, wonderful to see this.

This is the story of "Once a red, always a red!" You listen quietly you can hear the echo's of fans from many a year in the stadium. It really is a special place! Love to all those who once passed through the gates! We are all bonded together to make this club a special one.

Reminded me of my old man who also passed away in june. We got to see Liverpool beat leeds 6-0 with my son. It is because of the older generations passion for Liverpool that so many millions are now Liverpool fans. At the match another old gentleman went out of his way to show us where our seats were and told us to use lift when the gane was over he told a steward to wait at full tine to guude us to the lift. I think villa do a vip ticket free every week hope Liverpool do the same. Liverpool fans make the club and so many support the club because of fathers/mothers and grandparents. Well that was a kick in the bolloks wasn't it, just enjoying the story of a lifelong fan getting to see the Reds again and meeting Kenny. And then at the end we hear that he had sadly died, crusher, but at lease he got to go to Anfield one last time.

We have rivalries in football, we have disagreements in football, we have highs and we have lows, but what we all really do have is a common love of the game whoever we support and it’s the passion shown by Eric, for Liverpool FC and the generosity of the time given by the likes of Kenny Dalgleish that made an old man’s final days so happy that fills me with hope that we are really all one, truly connected and united fans of the game we all love whatever our allegiance’s and differences are.

Brilliant to see the club and the sponsors make this supporters day for a man who had supported the team since 1939 to say Kenny was his favourite player is a massive compliment when you consider the players that have played over that period. Just a really decent thing to do for the man. Sorry to see he has since passed.
Eric would have seen it all as a Liverpool fan. Hard to believe but in the 50's Liverpool were a second division side. Eric had the experience of watching Liverpool develop from a mediocre side to one of the best in the world.
I wish we won PL so he can see it before he leaves earth. RIP

I miss the old melwood. It had more of a community feel. Players would pass more through the city and see the people of this passionate and beautiful city. I live a 3 minute drive from melwood. I miss it so much. Also Eric is a true Liverpool fan. He seen us when we was terrible in the second division. And seen us the best in England.
