This is such an underrated song. The entire "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" album is one of my favorite holiday albums of all time, and I was fortunate enough to see TSO in concert back in 2021 when they announced they'd be playing the album in its entirety. When this song came on, I was literally CRYING tears of joy - actually crying! I love TSO and always will!

The Christmas I had being homeless? (COVID pandemic) Someone drove a truck up to the mountain to bring us a load of of snow, and we made a snowman. As the sky darkened, people began to show up in SUV' with leftovers. All of us were caroling, and sharing what we had. The food was passed between EVERYONE like at Christmas dinner; no one grabbed and ran. It was a group thing. Someone else arrived with DRY SOCKS. another with a crate of disposable hand warmers. As the weather was supposed to get wet, a local church rented three Uhauls for the night to sleep in. You'd best believed they were CLEAN when we left; that was a blessing. I was sheltered, dry, and fed. A bunch of others drove around on bicycles covered with Christmas lights. You know, it wasn't the worst Christmas I ever had. Better than ones I've had with family, when Christmas was used to vent the year's frustration and angst, and the alcohol made it worse. We were happy that night. Felt blessed. And there happened to BE a newborn baby among us. That little girl got everyone's love. She was representative of the future, the new year, the hope we all still clung to. Merry Christmas, Bright Solstice, happy whatever the heck you do to celebrate. RESPECT that night.

Many years ago they had a video tape of the ghost of Christmas Eve that incorporated many of the compositions - I still have it. I have most of their records and never cease to find the magic and meaning In them. Their music makes my spirit soar to the highest heights one moment then to the depth of despair and tears- my heart to bursting and only to stop mid-beat with the profoundity, especially when I hear Sarajevo and think of what it must have been like ... silence instead of sound, the subtle tension as the troops listen for sounds that may or may not come... reminiscent of the silence of the world as it anticipated the birth of the Child... May peace settle upon the world and in the hearts of humankind.
