You'll never find a more eclectic audience than a TSO concert. Tatted death metal guys there with their grandmothers, standing next to a church group, with a group of school kids in the row in front of them. I love it.
I must admit I forgot another artist that can gather just as an eclectic audience at their concert. That concert is the Church of Dolly. At a Dolly concert you'll have a drag queen singing Jolene next to a preacher and his wife. The tatted death metal guy is also probably attending with the same grandmother.

For anyone who wants to know the story of this song, I looked it up: The city of Sarajevo was in a war with another city, in the middle of the Bosnian War, and his city was destroyed by his own people. Desperate to do something the old man would go to the highest place he could find, and play music on his cello, things like Mozart and Beethoven. A reporter went to try and find him and ask why he did such a crazy thing. He responded because it was his only way to show that there was still a little bit of humanity in the world.
And as for the girl it's highly unlikely, at least not from Bosnian war since video is from 2007 and she is not older than 10, so she wasn't even born at that time
***** Maybe so but Sarajevo was and still is both Serbian and Bosnian town so, destroyed by its own people is the right definition. If you think any sides in that was was innocent you're also wrong, all three sides committed atrocities upon the others.

I literally felt tears in my eyes listening to this. I remember the days I was young, and how those were the best days. No that I’m older I see my son, and watch him grow. Pretty soon we will be gone
Who would have ever thought a little known Metal band named "Savatage" from the 80's would create the huge success that TSO has become! Thanks Paul O'Neill and Jon Oliva for the inspiration, and having gotten to know you and your late brother Criss. He was an awesome human. Still remember when you guys played Bonnie's Roxx in South Jersey and The Empire Rock Club in N.E Philly!
I have heard this before but never knew it's name. Now I was just browsing Instagram and there was a clip of 'office' and Dwight Schrute was playing this at a Christmas party.
I've seen these guys twice. The second time I got all their autographs. This was while they were still unknown. They'd come out after the show and visit. It was wonderful.
Yep. Saw them way back when they were unknown, played small venues (Constitution Hall, DC) and didn't even have a laser. Pediford, Cerasano, Wood, Skolnick, Cella. The best. And yes, after the show they would hang with fans.
I've been following them for years even before they were Trans-Siberian Orchestra, when they were a rock band called Savatage. They always used to hang out after the shows. I got to meet them and hang out with them many times it was awesome!
When my son was a senior in high school, his orchestra did this at Christmas. He played upright base in orchestra but is a guitar player as well, 20 years now. He played the guitar in the production. Every time I hear this, I can picture him up on stage playing guitar to this. Proud mom moment ❤️
I miss my Bosnia 🇧🇦, I was there during war , lost my childhood, teenage years. Came to Canada 🇨🇦 after everything was over. I am so thankful and proud to call Canada my new home. I remember when they released this song🙏 thank you everyone for your supportand for being thoughtful 🤗❤️ love you my Sarajevo ❤️
In August 1983 I was working in Krsko and staying in Zagreb. Everyone was so happy to be hosting the Olympics. Everyone was fearful of what they knew was coming. Tito had died, and the glue that held Yugoslavia together was coming apart. What happened then was senseless. What's happening today is senseless.
I will never not picture Dwight Schrute rocking out to this when I hear this even though this was my favorite long before that season of The Office lol
it hurts being alone for the holiday but every time i turn to the trans siberian and for the short moment of listening to them i smile. Thank you for a brief smile.
there's no sound more beautiful than an Orchestra sound if you get the honor to play for the Trans- Siberian Orchestra, you're the best of the best no question I love hearing them year-round listening to them is an honor and a privilege
I just saw them for my second time last night in Hershey PA and I loved it but my aunt said that since 2001 they changed there whole show but anyway thank you TSO for coming out to Hershey PA for the second time in the last two years
I love how this song is so rock n roll which is quite different when it come to Christmas songs, but despite it's total difference it still remains to be a favorite of everyone's when it comes to Christmas music :) Even a favorite among those who don't usually like change like this. That's TSO for you people!
That's because this was based on Savatage's work (a heavy metal band). relevant wikipedia article source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_Eve/Sarajevo_12/24
***** I'm not asking why it's rock n roll, because I already know why, I'm just saying how I love that it's so rock n roll. Given the fact that TSO consists of some members of Savatage, and people who did work with Savatage, naturally their music would be somewhat similar in genre.
Connor McMeans you're comment makes no sense, "all the members of tso that arent in the orchestra", a member of TSO can't be a member of TSO if they aren't in the orchestra, cause TSO IS the orchestra.
there's an orchestra, and then the guitar players, drummers, pianists, vocalists etc. I'm sayin paul o' neil, jon oliva, and chris caffery, three members of savatage, make up the main band, as in the pianist, guitarists, and bassist
Our entire orchestral strings program with an electric guitar accompaniment plays it annually as the finale for our holiday show. I’m four years out of high school but I still remember part (I played the double bass). 10/10 love playing this so much.
Oblivion I'm trying out for my schools rock orchestra with this song. I'm a seventh grade cellist going up against some twelfth graders, so wish me luck
When Jon sent this song as a Sava song, none of the major radios played it,when he sent it w a christmas tree album cover it was no:1 in most of them! Respect the roots, its Savatage!!!
I came here because this is a childhood memory 😢❤ this group has only gotten better with time… and there so good they bring out the nostalgia and memories of your childhood around the holidays… god bless to all the family we have lost along the way!! And god bless the world.. and 🎉🎉❤ to the Trans Siberian orchestra for always being a mainstay in music and culture

Thanks Paul O'Neill and Jon Oliva for the inspiration, and having gotten to know you and your late brother Criss. He was an awesome human. Still remember when you guys played Bonnie's Roxx in South Jersey and The Empire Rock Club in N.E Philly!
Rest in peace Paul O'Neill. You will be greatly missed
AJ Tomecek yes he will be. One of the greatest ever. Hope Jon would continue TSO
Absolutely. Cheers from Canada.
2 of my friends were Savatage roadies
I have heard this before but never knew it's name. Now I was just browsing Instagram and there was a clip of 'office' and Dwight Schrute was playing this at a Christmas party.
How dare you 'office' man
It's 'The Office', not 'office'.
Just attended my first TSO concert tonight in Jacksonville, FL with my son. Kinda neat and proud that the founders are fellow Floridians.
Who else cranks this album in the middle of summer ?
I do I love this song
This is another of those, "turn the volume up to 11", songs!
Hooray! The kittens are safe!
I love that 😂😂😂😂
um what about the girl? her too
The girl and 2 kittens safe? Yes.

When my son was a senior in high school, his orchestra did this at Christmas. He played upright base in orchestra but is a guitar player as well, 20 years now. He played the guitar in the production. Every time I hear this, I can picture him up on stage playing guitar to this. Proud mom moment ❤️
Timeless, and it's year 2023. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Jingle Bells: “I’m the greatest Christmas song of all time”
Trans-Siberian Orchestra: “Hold our eggnog”
*greatest thanksgiving song of all time* if we’re going by the original version.
One of kind. This song never fades from the Christmas Spirits.
I saw them in concert. Spectacular!
Merry Christmas in 2023 to each and everyone
Merry Christmas and may God be with you!
This song is way too good to just listen on christmas

*ALO POSJETITE NAŠ HOTEL PANSION MARKO!! 🏢🖖*
I will never not picture Dwight Schrute rocking out to this when I hear this even though this was my favorite long before that season of The Office lol
it hurts being alone for the holiday but every time i turn to the trans siberian and for the short moment of listening to them i smile. Thank you for a brief smile.
"Enough of this garbage, THIS is Christmas." "['Christmas Eve' by Trans-Siberian Orchestra starts playing]"
That why I’m here 🤣
bear, beets, battlestar galactica
there's no sound more beautiful than an Orchestra sound if you get the honor to play for the Trans- Siberian Orchestra, you're the best of the best no question I love hearing them year-round listening to them is an honor and a privilege
Hearing this on December 24th, 2024. This is a true classic especially on Christmas Eve.
2:52 Dwight Shrute killing it on the Violin
Our director wanted us to be aggressive in our music so he showed us this. You guys sound amazing!
This song will never get old for me
I just saw them for my second time last night in Hershey PA and I loved it but my aunt said that since 2001 they changed there whole show but anyway thank you TSO for coming out to Hershey PA for the second time in the last two years
I lost two of my shipmates in an accident at sea just after Christmas 2006. This song still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
Wash the pain away with those tears. Lucky and fortunate to have known and spent time with them you are. Hope you heal❤
The amount of views this doesn't have is ridiculous.
I know right? Christmas eve by *Savatage* off of the *Dead Winter Dead* album should have waay more views than just 600k.
@@spartansquid5931Это очень сильный альбом
This is the only Christmas song that I’ll listen to outside of December. It’s Art.
My all time favorite Christmas song. Josh does it so well
I love how this song is so rock n roll which is quite different when it come to Christmas songs, but despite it's total difference it still remains to be a favorite of everyone's when it comes to Christmas music :) Even a favorite among those who don't usually like change like this.
***** it is savatage, all the members of tso that arent in the orchestra have been in savatage at one point
The magic, wonder, majesty, and splendor of Christmas in song!!
this is the only christmas song that makes me want to go absolutely feral in bed at 3 in the morning, thank you and merry christmas 2020
Merry Christmas you filthy animal.
(Home Alone)
HELP
Wow!! This guys voice is amazing and amazing instrumentals. This is my favorite version of this song!!!
My orchestra played this last year, we sucked but it was so much fun to play.
We've done it two years in a row, and are doing it again this year. It's our concert closer. :D :D
Introvert_Otter _ Good luck...
Oblivion lepa
When Jon sent this song as a Sava song, none of the major radios played it,when he sent it w a christmas tree album cover it was no:1 in most of them! Respect the roots, its Savatage!!!
I don't know which I like the better, the way they played this song or the video they made for it!
Still here againf in 2024! The show was AWESOME!
I'm here too.
Dreams of Christmas Eve dramatically come to life in this lovely vintage video, complete with it's thrilling finish...
0:13 Melody God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Got to admit, I still come back to this every Christmas. It just seems to fit nicely.. Thank You to whoever posted this!
Yep
I came here because this is a childhood memory 😢❤ this group has only gotten better with time… and there so good they bring out the nostalgia and memories of your childhood around the holidays… god bless to all the family we have lost along the way!! And god bless the world.. and 🎉🎉❤ to the Trans Siberian orchestra for always being a mainstay in music and culture
