      I have 3 plugs plugged on my RTX 4090, it requires 4 plugs for overclocking.
      In fact, when I had 4 plugs in, it would trip my 1000w EVGA PQ power supply, which is premium quality PSU. It would go black screen and spin up fans like crazy.
      Make sure your plug is fully in too, as not fully plugged cable (even a mm) can trip black screen and max fan speed.
      3 plugs are equated to 450 watts. So 4 plugs is 600 watts. Power surge on 4090 can double what it pulls randomly to 900 and 1200 watts respectively. You won't know when it happens, but your PSU will.
      Plugging 3 cables in my opinion alleviates insane 1200 watt pull.
      I didn't engineer this gpu, and I don't know if my speculation is correct, as EVGA tech could not confirm nor deny my claim, as I thought it was bad PSU, until I removed 1 out of 4 PCIE cables.
      My power supply is platinum level EVGA psu made by FSP, who make top of the line PSUs. Just like Superflower. FSP holds same reverence as Superflower in server side market, and they both make PSUs for many manufacturers.
      Highest I ever saw my GPU pull is 462 watts in HWInfo64 monitoring app.
      Technically your PCIE x16 slot can provide up to 75 watts of power. Meaning that 450 watts + 75 watts
      If you need more power, you are on water cooling. My monstrous Aorus Master 4090 can cool the gpu, but with no overclocks, in fact I undervolt mine, and it can hit 80 Celsius in 10 fan Lian Li scenario. I don't want my gpu to run away in watts. So 3 cables is fine. If your psu breaks, don't blame me! You are gambling.

    I have an RM850X with a Zotac 4080 AMP Extreme Airo. I am currently using the stock splitter that comes with the GPU but my PSU only has two PCIE cables that split into 4. So I am using two cables and one daisy chain. I am wondering if this is okay? I saw some people online saying this PSU has more than enough for it but should I buy this wire?

    • @Nori_Plays
      @Nori_Plays 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Corsair themselves do not recommend using the pigtail connectors as it could short and damage your PSU, as well as GPU. Since the 850X only has 2 actual 8 pin connectors it is heavily recommended you buy this 2x 8pin adapter into 12vhpwr for an RM850X, I went ahead and got it myself for use when I get my 4080 Super. This way you can also provide up to 600W instead of the 450W you potentially get with the 3 cables (if necessary, but a 4080 only usually pulls up to 320 watts).

I'm still really confused on how this works. I don't know the difference between if it split into other 8 pin connectors compared to the 1 cable that doesn't split

    • @tpmnrcks
      @tpmnrcks ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the cable that came with your psu needs to be used with the adapter that game with your gpu. this cable in this video bypasses the adapter skipping the bulky look and goes directly from gpu to psu.

    • @XcDrifty
      @XcDrifty ปีที่แล้ว +2

      okay we will split this into 4 parts the gpu,psu, corsair cable, and the nvida adapter(cane with your 4070ti) the adapter from nvida is made to go into the gpu and the pcie cables from your psu would plug into the adapter. and it would work. BUT since you have the corsair cable it will go from the psu to the gpu bypassing the adapter from nvida which will no longer be needed.

  • @mofous

    I must be missing something. Aren't 8-pin PCIe cables / plugs only rated for 150W? And this terminates with only two and that's enough for 600W?

      @soulonr419 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was thinking the same , but no answers here :(

    • @mofous
      @mofous ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@soulonr419 It's because the cable Corsair is selling hooks directly to the PSU with 8 pin connectors. Those type4 connectors are rated for up to 300W+, so the two of them combined (from the PSU directly) support over the 600 watt rating of the 12VHPWR connector itself.
      I've been using this same cable with my 4080, no issues whatsoever.

      @@jimmytimber7074 This cable is specific for Corsair PSUs and even then not all of them. It is possible that some other cable of the sort will work with more than one brand of PSUs, if they happen to have the same 8-pin layout, but in general you need to make *absolutely sure* that said cable is compatible with *your* PSU, unless you want to burn down your house.
