Every time I see Ewan and Hayden doing a lightsabre practice, I can't help but think "this" is what "Obi-Wan and Anakin doing a routine lightsabre training at the Temple" would have looked like... T_T
I like how Hayden's training outfit looks kinda like a mix between Anakin's Episode II and III costumes. Feels almost like a kind of growth for the character.
Throwawayaccount1111136 hahah what are you five? Boring there some of the most thrilling movie of all time! I hate how the Jedi always use there lightsabers in the prequels. In the original trilogy lightsaber battles were for special moments, Luke when in cloud city could’ve killed the stormtrooper with the lightsaber but he didn’t he used a gun, but when faced against his father used it. It really showed how special the things were. But in the prequels they will just kill anything with it.
What sets? Apart from the set shown from 2.47 which was a partial set with CGI over laid the rest of the scenes were against blue or green screen. Overused CGI is not the only complaint with these movies either. Plot, story, dialogue, character motivations and missing scenes are all among the complaints against this movie.
Matthew Sands Hasn't starwars always been a CGI movie? we're talking about laser swords and weapons and space ships and you're here complaining :/ wtf the whole movie/story is CGI, what you gonna do next complain about avatar having too much CGI? lol
Pedram Carter Are you trying to win dumbest moron on the internet award or something? You're a little way off because the competition is stiff but nice try all the same. 1) I clearly said in my comment that there are plenty of other complaints aside from CGI about the prequels. 2) the complaint is not the use of CGI, it is the OVER USE of CGI, to the point it doesn't look real. When CGI is mixed with real sets it can be seamlessly merged and made to look real. The complaint about the prequels, particularly Ep2 and 3, is that Lucas was so lazy he made everything CGI and because of that it looked fake. So go and "lol" somewhere else. Your comment is pathetically misrepresenting of what is actually being said. Lord of the Rings is a good example of CGI, real sets, models, costumes etc. all blended together to make something that looks real. Avatar can't use real sets because it was set on a fake planet that bore no resemblance to real life. Of course SW is going to have CGI, there aren't real lightsabres, lazer guns etc. to use instead, but the complaint is that the CGI was so lazily overused that it just looked fake. FFS in Ep2 they even used a CGI apple for Padme to eat. They couldn't even be bothered to go get a real apple, and as a result it, like many other things in the film looked fake. If you don't agree with criticism of SW prequels then that is fine, it is all opinion anyway, but FFS please try to grow a brain cell and actually read people's comments before you attempt to rebut or mock them
Matthew Sands Who gives a fuck you act like George Lucas is your father your opinion is invalid no one gives a fuck, think about it some of the stunts they did was almost impossible to do even using stunt men and George Lucas created and brought his imagination to life THAT'S his art now stfu.
Pedram Carter Who gives a fuck? Well you seem to enough to comment for one thing. And thanks for further cementing your status as a complete moron by continuing to miss the point. I already said that certain things had to be CGI. But he could have got a real apple for Padme to bite couldn't he? But he was too lazy. He could have built a few sets to go with the CGI stuff to make it look more real. But because he couldn't be bothered to get off his fat arse he just filmed almost the entire thing in front of a green screen with two cameras and wondered why so many people thought his films were poorly made lumps of shit that were not even close to the OT. So your argument is invalid. Maybe you are right and no one cares about my opinion, do you think your opinion is any more valid or has any more people giving a shit about it? This thread is for people to post opinions, whether anyone gives a shit or not. So take Lucas' cock out of your mouth and come back when you've grown a brain cell. The OT were great films and the product of great effort and thought and Lucas got praised deservedly for that. The prequels were, in many people's opinion (including mine) cheaply made, lazily produced garbage, and Lucas deservedly got criticism for that. I don't see how i'm acting like Lucas is my father. You're the one crying over the deserved criticism he gets for being a lazy fat arsehole
Adam Stringer Yeah. I'm actually surprised most people don't know this. If the sets were CGI, they wouldn't look nearly as real, so I'd think it's a bit obvious that they used real sets. Hell, even some of the ships were practical.
@BreakWatcher I believe that's the camera guy. They were only rough shooting/cutting the fight scenes together so they could show George how they might look.
@mranderson00001 but i thought there were proper equipments for that? I don't exactly know the name but it has rails where the camera is rolled. The wheel chair was really weird.
obi-wan's mentor, jedi knight, wise and powerful but sometimes opposed to the jedi council because he believes in feeling the force at the present moment to follow its intuition. Other jedis prefers to take time and to study the force so as they can choose the best solution
@CIarKent how would you make them? i find that no matter what happens in the prequels, all those "hardcore old-school" fans who only like the original trilogy would still hate them
ator Hayden Christensen ele tinha 24 anos durante as gravações star wars episódio 3 a vingança dos sith ewan mc gregor ele tinha 25 anos samuel l. jackson ele tinha 26 anos pauzinho sabre de luz de brinquedo de mitila Christopher Lee ele tinha 87 anos Ian mcdiarmid ela tinha 84 anos natálie portman ela tinha 24 anos
true that, however in the origanol there is a bit better of a storytelling aspect imo. Like in the prequel, when vaders like "noooo' at the end, it sounds fake where when luke loses his hand it and finds out vaders his father, the "nooooooo!" sounds like luke is really in shock and awe
thats just he natural progression of the maturity of better film making over decades, over time in general. HOWever I can agree with RedLetterMedias Mr. Plinkett's skathing review when he talks about it looking TOO ballet like just like a big over rehearsed dance, ppl dont' FIGHT like that, and wheres the anger and raw violence?? I t hink the WORST example was the Darth Maul fight. I mean cue the Brittany Spears bacground track and it would not at all be out of place! Ballet until the end!
The originals had this problem with the fight in a new hope and the fight in last Jedi was so poor you can spot the actors missing their cues by the guards doing an extra spin move.
Also this is taking place in a space fantasy universe so they are going to do moves that a normal human will not due and the duel on mustafar has tons of anger and aggression.
And too close minded to see that the third easily superior to the 4th,not only that but the 4th has almost all the same problems,Mark Hamill and Alec Guiness both predate Christensen at the whole lack of emotion thing for one. The droids hog the first half hour of A New Hope just as Anakin comes a little late. The lines are just as wooden at times to. III beats IV end of story
liam holloway The reason I comment on the prequels is that I have a dream that one day my negative comments about the prequels might cause everyone to want to destroy every single copy ever made. I know it's a long shot, but one can always dream !
The difference is, though, that the fights in the original trilogy were deeply personal, given the history (which was fleshed out in the prequels), and therefore far more emotional than all but one (Obi-wan vs Anakin) fight in the prequels. What emotion is there going to be in a lightsaber fight between Jedi and a random sith or droid general here and there? Not as much.
Cole Soderstrom Well what do you want? That they invent the flying cars on Corusant just for the background? Or keep on traveling from lakes to deserts, just for that same background? Well, forget it. See all those stunts? No CGI.
+ShorkGamer They used very little CGI in comparison to many action films nowadays. All the sets were real, and they used actual props. Th CGI was only used for some of the planet backgrounds, space stuff, and the laser parts of the lightsabers and blasters.
in terms of techniques and movement the fights were the only interesting thing in the prequels in my honest opinion. sure there was no story, tension or drama, but it was a damn good light show. fighting styles and tell you about a characters emotions and ..well, the character. wither they be fluid and graceful, powerful swings, or firm and defensive.
Revenge of the Sith is one if the most underrated movie from cinema history, is a masterpiece in my opinion
Yah, it is my favorite Star Wars film
And my all time favorite Star Wars movie.
My second is Empire Strikes Back (episode 5).
The whole prequels are underrated, it makes me sad.
It’s not underrated because it’s not a masterpiece. Get out more and watch more movies outside of The typical summer blockbuster nonsense
Mad respect to Hayden for doing his own stunts.
Every time I see Ewan and Hayden doing a lightsabre practice, I can't help but think "this" is what "Obi-Wan and Anakin doing a routine lightsabre training at the Temple" would have looked like... T_T
"Kill him, Anakin! Kill him!"
"He got the job."
I like how Hayden's training outfit looks kinda like a mix between Anakin's Episode II and III costumes. Feels almost like a kind of growth for the character.
The kind of effort and training McGregor put is stunning
To be fair so did Hayden, but yah they both did great
Chandan Bhowal Hayden too
Those tapes should be released. Sooooooooo many hours of hard work in choreography have never been seen.
Would love to see the original 4 hour cut of the movie
Devan Devan sane, apparently the opening scene was originally an hour long
I'm so down for a one hour space battle at the beginning of the movie
everyone prequel hater watching the blooper videos thought "the practice room" was set :P
Ever prequel hater watching videos about the prequels are fucking freaks
liam holloway ikr
I really like 1 or 2 but 3 was good
OOOOOH I LOVE HAYDEN He's my Favorite actor😆
Park Jimin Christians Wife he’s one of mine too
You’re joking, right?
Say what you want but Episode 3 and Empire Strikes Back are the best Star Wars movies
You're fucking right although a new hope will alaways remain the most loved
They were boring asf. Gave no sense of scope of the universe and the Jedi where ridiculous- really weak. Prequels were so much better.
What an ignorant
Throwawayaccount1111136 hahah what are you five? Boring there some of the most thrilling movie of all time! I hate how the Jedi always use there lightsabers in the prequels. Ok that made no sense switch Luke used a gun to kill the stormtroopers and then used a lightsaber for Vader sorry
Best swordfights in movies.
Can we get Nick's completely edited reel of Episode III? It'd be like the ultimate Film to watch.
Say what you want but choreography is just stunning in New Trilogy
What do you mean with "new trilogy"?
Adam Levine yep I agree choreography of the prequels are awesome and better than disney trilogy
No it is NOT and the FUCKING EPISODE 8 is HORRIBLE!!
Uh huh. Whatever.
You guys realize this comment is from 3 years ago when the disney trilogy wasnt out yet?
Only just found out that Nick Gillard was in The Last Crusade - He was the tank crewman who got hit by the periscope 🤯
And the haters keep complaining about all the sets being cgi... I guess the sets I saw in this video never existed.
What sets? Apart from the set shown from 2.47 which was a partial set with CGI over laid the rest of the scenes were against blue or green screen. Dat Sheev, tho.
Oh Nick Gillard. I do miss your influence.
the stunt guy has a micky mouse on it! FORESHADOW?!?!?!!!!?!?!
its like poetry it rhymes
die hard starwars fans (like me) love all six movies
The new star wars people leave all action scenes to stunt doubles.
Furtive Pygmy and not even that good
The fight scenes in the prequels were a HELL of a lot better than the Original fights.
If ewan and Hayden went larping, they would steal many lollipops.
FUCKING GENIUS!!!! No matter what all the IDIOTS said!
My favorite movie of all time
So they did use real sets!
Adam Stringer Yeah. I'm actually surprised most people don't know this. If the sets were CGI, they wouldn't look nearly as real, so I'd think it's a bit obvious that they used real sets. Hell, even some of the ships were practical.
Adam Stringer Real sets don't a good movie make...
iLikeTheUDK ...Ingles por favor
Adam Stringer And miniatures and filmed locations.
iLikeTheUDK yeah we speak English here
@BreakWatcher I believe that's the camera guy. They were only rough shooting/cutting the fight scenes together so they could show George how they might look.
@BreakWatcher I know what you mean. Because they were only doing test shots, they weren't using the usual movie cameras, just handheld ones.
Nick Gillard is awesome
a simple answer to the question
The Mace / Palpatine fight was fucking right one. I really dug that one.
i promise you wire work is always better than cg fight scenes.
4:36-4:37 how I play lightsabers as a kid
The magnaguards were people? I figured they were entirely CGI, but that’s cool!
@mranderson00001 but i thought there were proper equipments for that? I don't exactly know the name but it has rails where the camera is rolled. The wheel chair was really weird.
Did they add the lightsabers every frame or did they use a green or bluescreen blade???
Damn, that storyboard version of the Dooku fight was way better.
obi-wan's mentor, jedi knight, wise and powerful but sometimes opposed to the jedi council because he believes in feeling the force at the present moment to follow its intuition. Other jedis prefers to take time and to study the force so as they can choose the best solution
eh what did Hayden say right at the end? sorry I'm not a native speaker, and I kind of struggle with his accent.
@CIarKent how would you make them? i find that no matter what happens in the prequels, all those "hardcore old-school" fans who only like the original trilogy would still hate them
Connor Moore
And now that we have the sequels that hasn’t changed at all
Mostly so,but Revenge was definitely better than the 4th in every way.
You’re not very smart
Would indeed have fit the scene for another character, but it's not very 'Palpatine', the line in the movie is better, I think.
and there were made in the 80s!!! you should have started with that...
I guess they used " green or bluescreen blade"
Did you also like it before it was cool?
I never said it would fit in the movie. I was simply saying that the way that scene was done was funny.
Is George drinking a Diet Coke?
Ewan McGregor at 1:42 kind of sounds like Blobstudios.
1:59, what's with the wheelchair?
A bit of a late response. But it’s to get a smooth shot while moving
That's the most absurd thing I've ever heard.

Hayden and Ewan were given a flat script. Their commitment was A grade.
You're kidding right?
thats just he natural progression of the maturity of better film making over decades, over time in general. Kill him Anakin kill him vs. Good God now finish him
As much as I hate the prequels, I do have to admit that the fight choreography was well done.
If you hate the prequels why are you spending you're times watching things about them lmao tool
liam holloway The reason I comment on the prequels is that I have a dream that one day my negative comments about the prequels might cause everyone to want to destroy every single copy ever made. I know it's a long shot, but one can always dream !
Wow you're really obsessed with these prequels. You must be a freak
liam holloway It's something to do.
Well my advice then would be to find better things to do.
What does that have to do with anything?
The difference is, though, that the fights in the original trilogy were deeply personal, given the history (which was fleshed out in the prequels), and therefore far more emotional than all but one (Obi-wan vs Anakin) fight in the prequels. What emotion is there going to be in a lightsaber fight between Jedi and a random sith or droid general here and there? Not as much.
define emotion we saw obi wan step up to the plate when his master was killed and see palpatine show his true colors in his fight with windu.
Wow lots of green and blue screens.....
they're not gonna fight near real lava
Cole Soderstrom Well what do you want? That they invent the flying cars on Corusant just for the background? Or keep on traveling from lakes to deserts, just for that same background? Well, forget it. See all those stunts? No CGI.
Most of the backgrounds were not CGI either. Blue/green screen doesn't always mean CGI. And beside.. what's the big deal with it?
@pyropulse prequels are great & you can't tell me otherwise
They used lots of real sets the blue screens come from test shoots and the originals used lots of blue screening with the actors imposed on models.
MUH CGI GEORGE LUCAS IS DA DEVIL
As much CGI as possible huh? J.J.A is so much betta!
+ShorkGamer They used very little CGI in comparison to many action films nowadays. All the sets were real, and they used actual props. Th CGI was only used for some of the planet backgrounds, space stuff, and the laser parts of the lightsabers and blasters.
Jar jar Abrams relied more on cgi than the George did.
in terms of techniques and movement the fights were the only interesting thing in the prequels in my honest opinion. sure there was no story, tension or drama, but it was a damn good light show. fighting styles and tell you about a characters emotions and ..well, the character. wither they be fluid and graceful, powerful swings, or firm and defensive.
No story or drama? The prequels show the transition from republic to empire and anakin to Vader
Exactly. The original films had true grit and backbone. The prequel trilogy has tarnished Star Wars forever.
