Yes, I remember catching this on MTV at the time, one of the best neo-glam rock acts of the entire decade (the main MTV video was a different one, in black and white - this is from TOTP isn't it? - but the absence of colour did nothing to dminish the power of the song).

In 1985, The Cult unleashed a sonic storm with "Rain," a track that not only captures the essence of their sound but also marks an epic moment in the history of British rock. "Rain" is the second single from Love, an album that helped redefine the rock landscape of the '80s. The song is an anthem to the cathartic power of rain, with Ian Astbury's magnetic voice perfectly intertwined with Billy Duffy's hypnotic guitars, creating an atmosphere that is both ethereal and earthy. The pulsing rhythm and crystal-clear production transport the listener on a mystical journey, a sonic ritual that seems to invoke the natural elements. "Rain" is not just a song; it's an experience that echoes the mysticism and raw power that made The Cult one of the most iconic bands of that decade. Watching the "Rain" video feels like stepping into another dimension, where rock merges with the primal energy of nature. This track has a groove that can't be ignored, a magnetism that pulls the listener in from the first note, and continues to resonate in the playlists of anyone who appreciates rock in its purest, most authentic form. If you haven't yet, hit play on "Rain" and let yourself be swept away by The Cult's sonic storm. 🌧🎸 #TheCult #Rain #RockAnthem #80sRock #GothicRock
Everytime I hear The Cult, it reminds me of surfing back in highschool cruising to the eastside of Florida...Absolute great times and memories....Thanks for producing great music.
Saw them live in the early nineties. Could feel that bass in my liver and lost a couple octaves of hearing from the guitar that night. They were AWESOME!!!
Dad would often times throw a cult cd in the truck on the way home from school, in my younger years, and I instantly enjoyed it. Old man had good taste in music. For example, “She Sells Sanctuary” came on and I thought it was incredible. Great band.
I was 19yrs old when this came out. This band was not underrated by any means! The Cult grew into huge popularity until grunge sidelined most all of these bands during the 90's
THIS is the Cult at their best!!! I was so lucky to have seen them on their Love Tour many years ago. Not so much a fan of their "metal turn," but still have the greatest respect for the band!!! "Love" IS The Cult!!!
Just returned from their gig in Warsaw. They sound like new. Not because they haven't aged, but because they sound as appropriate these days as 40 years ago. Goosebumps.

Got a bit of a story to tell regarding this song. This song, along with Fire Woman and Mountain Sound by OMAM held me together in my final months of High School. Every morning on the bus I'd have this playing in my earbuds. The sound always kept me relaxed and got me through the day. The final 4 months of 12th grade were the worst, lost a friend and got stabbed in a back by them to the point of life ending thoughts. Listening to Ian & the Cult raised my spirit up, held me together, and got me through it. I always look back on this song if I ever need that same motivation to get me through the day or looking to unwind. Thanks Ian & the Cult for this banger of a song 🤘
Hands down one of the most driving, underrated, and unique rock bands in history. Long live The Cult.

Billy Duffy's opening tunes are out of this world. Probably biggest factor in why this band is so great.
