I prospect in high rubbish areas full of iron using a GPX4500 and surprisingly even though told not to use iron discrimination I still do and saves me a lot of digging. Yet it never misses gold even 0.5 gm nuggets. Before I settled on this I dug every iron signal to make sure. Now I use it in trashy areas all the time. Good test video, by the way.
One of the first things I learned was that you should dig every target. You just never know. Being as new to this as I am with a GPX 4500 ( from Garrett AT Gold ) I truly appreciate your efforts. Valuable information for free. Thank you. But, all I could think about while you were doing it was that it was time you could be out looking for more nuggets!!! I also have the same coil that you are using. Next on the purchase list is an external speaker. I've got more videos to watch!
Hi Ed, wow thanks so much for watching many Videos. Some good some not so good. But I guess thats the joy of progressing over time. And yeah I have many days where I film tutorial videos for my online training. And many other things which could be more time in the fields detecting for nuggets. But its good to take time and give to others ;) Enjoy and thanks again. M.G P.S - hope you pick up some little tips or tricks along the way from the channel. ;)
Hah all Gold - I wish they were all Gold JD - stop trying to confuse other people who will watch the Vid :) - my prediction was lead iron steel aluminium brass and gold.
Thanks BT - I do a similar test on group training field days and its amazing how many operators said which they would dig and the ones they would walk away from. Visual identification is crucial - might only take 2 minutes to inspect but so many times screamers have been gold.
With my SD2200D they most sound like target (#5) mostly lead and gold targets the rest iron gets blanked out and bullet shells and pull tabs and cans are a really high pitch ...... Screaming like a high woo hoo woo ....That's using a Doc's Screamer ..... But all your targets were targets I would be like "mud on a hog digging", we don't have the luxury here in Arizona to walk away from a lead-gold sound ... ...... That's using Minelab DD 11" and Mono 11" both from Minelab ...... I'm saving to get a COILTEK 14x9 " Elliptical Goldstalker " ® Blitz Mono Searchcoil ....... Thanks for your videos and hard work ......
Good video showing exactly what happens out in the field. I always try to guess what it is before I dig (just a small game I play) but ALWAYS dig every target.
Thats great Pat, the unknown is what keeps us going, well gold as well but its exciting either way to see what story could have been behind every target we get. All the best
Hey thanks for this great video. Just wondering, what am I hearing when the mozzie tone "nulls out" over a target? As in, it goes away to "between nothing and barely audible" and then comes back with a little bit of a peak to start with, then returns to normal... (Minelab Eureka Gold on 20kHz).... is that a signal overload because of too high Sensitivity or something else? Don't seem to find anything in the dig.
Hi John, thanks for watching the Vid and glad you liked it. In regards to that response if your digging down and find nothing. Usually ground noise will give us very complex signals - some are very solid enough to be a target. But also some are more broad than others. I guess its the biggest challenge with all grounds and targets is digging so much ground noise during our hunts. Normal targets are quite easy to distinguish, but the deeper they get the more challenging it becomes. We always say dig everything just to be sure its not a target, but some areas we need to draw a line, if its super hot grounds we just use our intuition and certain techniques to identify the response. Hope that kind of helps. ;)
@@MinelabGold That's also known as a " Halo" effect....... It's when there is an iron field (corroded iron) giving off a signal that simply disappears once you dig a hole (Target is small but rusted giving off a good strong signal) but disappears when you dig a hole because it's tiny and the halo field get's broken when you dig .....
That's also known as a HALO effect in metal detecting .... The "halo effect" theory holds that buried metal objects have an ionization "halo" that increases their apparent size to a metal detector searchcoil. This makes the objects detectable at greater depth, it can be a small piece of iron giving off a halo and when you dig it disappears because the target was really small and rusted....
Nice work Luke, apologies on the late response. I have been out of action most of 2018 after some time off. Got some new footage coming soon. And should now be in a position to add weekly vids again.
I enjoyed that ☺ I've found my small test nugget that is near perfect round can sometimes sound quite different depending on how hot the ground is, also using different size and shape coils also can change the response alot! Cheers Daryl
Hi Daryl, thanks mate, wow that sounds great a near perfect round piece in natural form. I have found a lot of types in the many years but never something close to a perfect round ball like a sinker so the speak, expensive sinker that one. I have heard of but never seen in real a perfect cube of gold. Yeah thats true smaller more sensitive, larger deeper response signals etc I also have the GP3500 - mostly use the GPX4500 now - the 35 is set with the Detech DD 15 Ulitmate. Great coil that one on the hot grounds with the GPX.
Can you make a video like this but also include tabs , bullets or other junk items? I noticed although they sound different, they all seemed to have a similar pattern , noticed it at the end each time. But id like to compare the end pattern with junk items.
Hi Bless, thats an absolute great idea for a video. I did have a similar request from a Subscriber about explaining difference between Junk sound and nice target sound. This would be a great video to do for you. Thanks again for watching.
Nice work Dale, apologies on the late response. I have been out of action most of 2018 after some time off. Got some new footage coming soon. And should now be in a position to add weekly vids again.
As newbie, my problem is that I have so much 'other' noise going on (Minelab 4500+Evolution 14" Coil) that I dont hear any of the subtle gold responses. So far , no gold and looking harder by the day until I figure out how to do it right! I have tried many different set ups but still cant get to the stage that the video detector was at, where you can clearly hear the 'hum' and no other interference noises!
I love you man!!! This is the video I have been looking for! I have the GPX 5000 and I have only found bullets, and nails.
Did you find anything eventually? I just bought one also haven’t found anything yet
@@howie6666 yeah. They are good magnets. You have to make sure you set the timings for your area and soil correctly

Thanks Bob, High trash area's absolutely a great strategy. Nice work - I just dont use it - Happy Hunting
Ohh wow it’s all gold. Good video. Very good!
Hi Nic, thanks mate - yeah its a fun test to show that one. ;) Enjoy your week

Had my 4500 for a year now , I probably walked over a tone of gold.. 😟 gunna dig everything. Now.. great video
Ahh thanks so much Pimmie, apologies on the delay mate, been away camping and detecting ;) Good luck
thanks for taking the time to show that fantastic vid
Just been testing a few things thats the best advice thankyou
Cheers John - enjoy and good luck M.G
kool vid! glad they were all GOLD! i guessed no.5 .....cheers, jd

Brilliant👍😂 quite an array of different responses. I wonder how many I have left out In The gold fields 🙈 Excellent tutorial

#DigEverything. Beautiful video. I thought for sure the 3rd one was the gold!!!
Thanks J.B much appreciated. Enjoy your weekend. ;) M.G

Repeatable on left and right swing = dig.

I would have dug them all. The difference in shape can determine the response. Great vid mate👍🍻
Excellent - yeah its good to show some vids for newcomers as well so they can get an understanding of response. Thanks Mate
I was thinking the whole way through this video....always dig every target!

Talk about a throat punch when you find out they are all gold!
Ahh thanks again J.B ;)
Thank you for this video, it explained a lot for me. I do have a question, does the main lab make a constant noise and is that normal?

What do you do with your setting in wet ground
Nothing at all.
Very witty mate !
Thanks Katta, we just never know without that visual.
When you were detecting it you should've just said what they were
