Wowo this must be my biggest TH-cam Nugget - just great to be able to share some of my adventures with you all.
For those new to the channel - I try to upload a couple of times a week, but keep in mind some days I just can't get out detecting or maybe no targets on the day. Almost every upload is a Premiere - which is played for the very first time on TH-cam.

In the video’s its just about capturing the events that unfold on our journey through our gold detecting, and the best part about that is we just never know what the day will bring. Certainly we get excitement just from being out there. But the joys of finding gold no matter what the size is something we just never get back and need to share these moment.
Gold and metal detecting in Victoria in the wonderful golden triangle goldfields using mostly Minelab GPX 4500 with the Coiltek Elite Mono’s coils.

A brass shotgun shell is rare, used for solid slugs about 60 years ago.

I hope you checked inside that shotgun/bullet casing at the start. Old timer told me he used to crimp his fine gold in like that to not lose it.

Nice find guys. I've dug quite a bit of dirt myself, however whenever it's looking like a lot of digging, out comes the 6" gas powered auger & my mucking board. Then using a small hand held spotting detector I can pin point the depth and direction of the signal and generally hit it within the next two holes. And it only takes minutes to dig out. The Hole Auger has saved me from a lot of back breaking digs in the Nevada Desert.
One of them broke a disc in my back please be carefull and good luck.🇭🇲

Check inside the casing. The Chinese miners known for hiding nuggets inside bullet casings and flattening the ends over. Always best to check. Looks old.

Very close Dave. Golds funny in size hey, Ive had ones physically bigger in appearance but less weight. Always gets us sometimes, but this one was super solid chunky. I ended up checking in the cartridge and Nup nothing but good ol Dirt - many thanks ;)
Your found shell is either a rare brass shot gun shell or more likely a 450/577 used in the Martini-Henry rifle.

That shotgun shell casing is either an Ithaca made by Ithaca or Peters made by Peters
What make is your detector?
577 450 martini Henry cartridge
Hi Brett - wowo mate. That's amazing ya surely know ya cartridges. Heres the measurements roughly - Matreial is Brass Casing, measurement across the base at the primer end is roughly 18mm or 3/4 inch. The barrel of the casing appears to be close to 16mm Diameter. Length is 58mm Opened.
What a wonderful express cartridge I've shot a double rifle in that caliber grade 5 walnut m70 Winchester Monte Carlo styled stock break action Martini henry calibered rigby not much change from 30k

Liiks like an old school .45 cal but I may be wrong, its been along time since I messed with any form of shell, (rabbit hunting with eather shotgun, .22 air rifle, and even pheasants)

Ahh thanks so much Darryl yeah wasnt sure to call it big gold or not but I guess they are getting harder to find the half ounce pieces. Lucky to have got this one on TH-cam ;) I think when we compare to all the sub grams we get its big gold. But not when we compare to Welcome Stranger haha.

Nice nugget minelab gold , i work in stainless and we use a cleaning system for the weld scale called a tig brush it cleans welds better than pickle paste you can etch through stencils your brand name etc or electro black through the stencil for black lettering in stainless like the little tag you had to weld on .
Oh hey hey Scott, many thanks for watching mate. Yeah its amazing with laser etching stainless hey some of the stuff they do with varying the temps to achieve colors really is cool stuff. I'll pass that onto Dan he loves stainless work. What do they make stencil with for doing that, ive only ever seen CNC Laser how we use DXF or DWG files. Cheers mate oh yeah cool nugg that one.
@@MinelabGold its a kevlar cloth stencil like used in screen printing you hold the stencil on the job dip the brush in the liquid and brush across the stencil for 5 seconds or so and your logo is on the job .

Can’t be 100%, but that first cartridge looks like a 577/450 Martini Henry case. They were a rolled brass case and they often times had a black base. Nice piece of history there if it is!
@@it_always thought it looked way too wide at the base to be 44/40, but anything is possible!
It also could be 577. Snider which the base looks like 12g brass shell or a 577. necked down to fit a 402 caliber projectile like 577 450 Martini
Which is a 577. Necked down to take a 458" projectile
Safaris styled rifle but back in the day in australia they were our black powder rifles as we didn't have a designated caliber for law enforcement or the public it was like the wild West out here but richer

Those dolly pots are exactly what I have been looking for, something to keep in the car and made of stainless. Ordered one straight after watching the vid. will be good to not have rust in the pan, will make it easier for sure. I like to run the monster over the pan after crushing samples and the rust is a pain
