Minelab Gold Hi ML I have been out a bit after the tutelage you gave me and am slowly getting used to the 4500 and the range of settings you suggested. The up side is that I have picked up gold in every outing using the gpx (2-3 pieces) but they have been small around .1-.2 gms. After viewing your videos I am critically aware that I am a novice and you have excellent skills and knowledge. I have handed my sdc to my son for the foreseeable future so that I can concentrate on becoming more accomplished with the 4500. Instead of wandering around smashed/flogged areas I find it liberating to go bushwalking and try and apply some of the knowledge you gave to me. I am kind of motivated to find larger pieces or the prospect of larger pieces via the 4500. I recently passed on a piece to my wife who created and made a beautiful ring. Hope all is good in your neck of the woods. Cheers Barry
@@57barryt Thanks Mate, no probs at all, again if you feel there is some things you need explained. By all means shoot an email As mentioned there are certainly many Video Explanations which may just fill in those gaps if any. Enjoy and well done mate, either way your not doing anything wrong, just gotta swing over it. We all want bigger gold mate - just gotta keep swinging ;)
Another great vid l learn a lot from your vids, shurely you must be containing your excitement when you see the colour in the scoop, lm stopping myself from cheering and running round in circles 😂😂😂
Thanks Red, glad you enjoy the vids as always ;) Oh the excitement never gets old mate, seeing that color each and everytime even if its a lil sub sub gram. It still shouldn't be taken for granted. ;) Because we have had many days on our journey with zero gold. Hah yeah I guess I'm not one to do the Gold Dance - but my excitement has always been just to look at the gold, what gold type is it and what minerals are associated. I use to only be focused on what shape is it or does it look like something. But later in detecting it was all about the Gold type And don't get me wrong mate, when they are on the higher side compared to the usual 4g and below say 5g upwards well now we are getting a little more excited, and mate if it was 3 ounces in that hole - I would probably have to do some fair amount of editing because it wouldnt be TH-cam friendly haha. I remember my very first piece of Gold - it was a Gold Quartz Specimen, that excitement was very high, even to the point of driving home to show of my find to my family. Even that Dog Head relic not too long ago maybe a couple years back, that was almost more excitement than anything I have ever found, there's just something about cool relics I guess, when we find gold so much. A cool relic like that only comes along maybe once in a lifetime. Glad you liked the Vid mate
Cheers Mate, was very enjoyable and weather was just nice a little overcast at times but a nice cool breeze and about 24 degree's. Just perfect - And no probs on sharing these with you all.
Hi Gary, thanks so much for the SUB - and glad you got something out of the Vid ;) Plenty of good tips along the way for many levels of operators. Even basic things some can overlook. All the best and hope to talk soon.
Cheers Again, yeah its on the cards mate. Hopefully next video, I am hoping to get that one done tomorrow for you all. Seems a little warm but I guess it could be worse. ;)
Great tips and a great video.. Nice gold and yes I would love to see you pan some of that dirt out. I have meant to do that in my area but have not so if you find some in the dirt it will motivate me to do the same, lol.

That's a very good day. If you did that over seven days, you'd make around $1300. I think that's what I'll target when I get out there. Three grams a day! Shush, I know.....but dreams are free lol :) Another very instructive vid, really enjoyed it.
Cheers Mate, always a good day with even the slightest of yellow. Some days as you know can be that extra special. 3g a day is a good day thats for sure. Plenty of days over 3g but many with none in between ;) lol
Beautiful pieces mate! That boot shaped one looks awesome. The dirt in that first hole looks perfect to pan, which is something I would like to see you do for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Buddy, glad you liked the Vid - Yeah FAMO59 also said it looks very much like THE BOOT OF CORTEZ and when I looked at the nuggets side by side - well bugger me Hmmm - pity it wasn't as big as that BOOT though ;) And yeah I had enough Subs ask - so next Video around will be that processing of the material Its very shallow alluvial in Ironstone country and appears its a nice undulated area which should contain more heavies, and the Dense Red Clay Base is very shallow as well - so might next to scrape some of that as well. Further down I found some nuggets roughly 2 to 3 inches into the Red Clay.
That sounds like perfect pay dirt. It`s a shame a Dozer can`t be used for a bit of a push @@MinelabGold, I reckon there is a lot more smaller gold that could be picked up for sure.
Every operators dream, I have so many places like that - knowing how much surface gold was found and knowing the depths varying in those locations from a foot to 4 feet - and all we need is maybe just a foot or 2 taken off - Hmmm we all dream of that ;)
Thanks Again BC - will surely keep the vids coming for you all to tune in and watch. And thanks for your continued support on the channel mate. Cheers M.G
Hi Minelab Gold. Always watch your videos and all of them are great. About panning, I had the same thought. Where you found the 232 bits of gold in the glory hole, you may want to go back there and get some soil from the bottom of the hole and pan it. Good change to get a fair bit of fine gold. What do you use to clean up your gold? I use Ali Brite aluminum cleaner. I put the gold in it and after a few days it cleaned up very nice and brings out the shine. Also works well on species. The quartz will clean up very good and the gold shines out of it. Thank you for sharing your gold finds. Always love the areas you're in.
Thanks Marc, glad you enjoyed the Vid mate - and really appreciate your continued support. ;) With that area with the hole of gold, I removed material below where the main concentration of gold was and also each side sampling, and the results showed very little the further away. I did crush a fair amount after those vids and got some nice fine gold and a few nice pickers as well. Maybe close to half gram of fines. But yeah it would certainly be a great area to put in some more effort, I believe the reef is within 15 meters, and also that calcrete level runs up under a big amount of top material - I would say its roughly 1 to 1.5 meters deep running upwards if this makes sense. That hole with the gold as you know was in the very bottom of that small worked section which the old timers must have just missed. So my theory is it could still continue further under that large amount of top virgin ground material. But for me to move that material is such a large amount of work. It's always in the back of my head though, and those things usually get done when the time is right. And yep Alibrite is great mate, very low percentage of Hydrofluoric Acid and will dissolves Quartz over time - awesome stuff - I use HCl for the Ironstone usually 2 days on most pieces. There's something about Quartz specimens I tend to leave them in tact, havent really had an ugly looking quartz specimen. But many Ironstone ones ;) Again thanks for your support and watching the vids - apologies on the long comment - but definitely well deserved and long reply mate.
Another great video MG and some great tips in there as well. Watching your video's keeps the hunger alive and the need to get back out stronger than ever :-)
Oh Thanks Mate, its amazing some days, might look like 22 minutes to find 5 nuggs, but we all know some days we do hit it every swing. And others just take time, was out for about 4 hours so a little work in between to get them ones. And the next outing there could be none at all. The joys of our journey hey Pete. Good to catch up with you the other day as well ;) We wont talk about that nugget though Hah

Great video and the good old GPX 4500 strikes again: where did you get that fantastic scoop from, please? Absolutely love your vids mate! I have learnt so much from you! I too run a 4500 with a 15” Evo and SP01. Do you mind if I ask what settings you run? It seems real stable and sensitive!
Hi Mate, yeah its kinda hard to explain settings in a Comment, basically the grounds in all locations vary and If I gave you a certain setting it would be very wrong of me to do that. Shoot me an email - prominelabgold@gmail.com - and thanks so much for the feedback - Glad you like the Vids
I usually take samples in most areas that contain virgin ground gold. ;) if they do I would surely post up a vid ;) Cheers Thanks for tuning in again M.G
Thanks Mate, yeah I was talking with another Subscriber letting him know I will be doing this just to show some operators the methodology behind why we certainly should for extra gold recovery. Have done this many times over the years, and some results were pretty good. ;) Looking forward to this one and hopefully have it all done in the next couple days and hopefully upload by Late Saturday or Sunday. ;) And thank for the comment - Happy Hunting ;) M.G
@@MinelabGold thanks :) I've only got flour around me but it's great for learning how to think like gold. My plan is by learning to find small colours in unusual places; when I go out detecting, I will trip over nuggets lol....
Oh nice, its all adds up mate. And I guess its good for operators to break up their days and prospect a little more. I prospect very often with grounds reading and other methods, but its good to break the days and pan some material. ;)
@@MinelabGold so far I've got 0.67g of flour. 0.22g took 3 years then I got serious Dec 18 and in 2 months panned out 0.47g from a river "not known to carry". Hard work but satisfying. Not as hard as putting my first TH-cam video together though... but I'm getting there. When the old timers found Kalgoolie and Cue etc they stopped looking in the thick snake filled bush in the lower South West.... so I have undiscovered flour at the end of my driveway! Lol I get my shiney fix every other day.
@@lithiumvalleyrocksprospect9792 Thats great - I love reading other prospectors adventures. Certainly takes some hard work effort and lots of grounds coverage to read those area's and really get that in depth understanding on each area. Oh yeah the TH-cam vids take a lot of work - but very satisfying sharing it with others. Well done and feel free to shoot an email anytime mate. ;)
Good area,You mentioned acid cleaning Your bits with ironstone quartz or clay difficult to remove.I have been using 32% hydrofluoric acid, but cannot get any more.If You would be interested in a much safer and cheaper method, let me know I will send it to You by E-mail with a picture of a result.(it cannot damage nugets, it is safe that way too), regards George
Hi George, Thanks mate - yeah most nuggets with inclusions I clean with either HCl or HF depending on the appearance and mineral associated. Always up for new methods mate. Shoot me an email for sure. You know I love looking at Pictures ;) Cheers Mate
Can anyone turn up in the countryside with a detector and look for gold? I'm in the UK but have family in Victoria, never visited Australia, would love to give it a go...I'm guessing there's a significant danger from snakes, spider bites?
@@Outaboutdetecting I would recommend GP, GPX, GPZ Series - and SDC for ultra sensitivity. Equinox still finds good targets at reasonable depth. But I can't really comment too much on Equinox 6 or 800's or AT Pro's mate. Havent thoroughly tested them enough. GP series find targets at great depth mate, and I guess it really comes down to operator, as the detector is maybe 10% of the equation. Hope that helps ;) Feel free to shoot an email anytime
Thanks Damon, I think that's 2 comments now with you guys asking to test it. If I get a few more mate I would love to do it. I guess even for you 2 is well worth it - Ahh what am I saying lets just do it yeah and I'll give a shout out to You and Pat ;) - if there is gold it needs to be recovered. And will certainly be a good way to show on that methodology ;)
@@MinelabGold nice, thanks. I guess the next question is how much of the soil do you take? I can't help thinking about 1m square over the hole and about 500 deep?😉 Too much to process? Hehehe. What ever works, I'm just curious if there was small pieces your detector couldn't pick up.
@@damonhumphreys4303 Cheers Mate, yeah will surely be doing that Vid mate. I will pretty much work the alluvial level of material and really focus on that material I was thinking a square meter in size but not cubic meter in volume. That piece was sitting roughly 8 inches down So I will pretty much establish how much more of the alluvial and heavies are on top of the Clay Base. Then scrape so much into that Clay as well. Hopefully it works out roughly 100m or so thickness of material over a square meter. Then pretty much classify it onsite so to speak, if the material is too moist which I think it might be, then I will need to cart a few bucket loads to water and classify it that way. Then simply pan it off. ;)
good one MG,thanks,Davo

I usually take samples in most areas that contain virgin ground gold. ;) if they do I would surely post up a vid ;) Cheers
Thanks for tuning in again M.G
yep beats working any day
👍
Definitely pan some dirt from target holes
Hi mate, just need to get a miners rights for Victoria. If you do end up visiting - just google miners rights victoria.
@@MinelabGold that's great, would a minelab equinox on gold mode work OK? Or an at pro?
@@Outaboutdetecting I would recommend GP, GPX, GPZ Series - and SDC for ultra sensitivity. Equinox still finds good targets at reasonable depth.
But I can't really comment too much on Equinox 6 or 800's or AT Pro's mate. Havent thoroughly tested them enough.
GP series find targets at great depth mate, and I guess it really comes down to operator, as the detector is maybe 10% of the equation. Hope that helps ;) Feel free to shoot an email anytime
It'd be interesting to see if that ground held finer gold.
I will pretty much work the alluvial level of material and really focus on that material
I was thinking a square meter in size but not cubic meter in volume. Then simply pan it off. ;)
@@MinelabGold Sounds like a plan! Look forward to seeing the results.
yep for sure, gettin away from work
Awesome - love reading that, getting away from work detecting ;) Passion
