Job #1 is to buy this Opinel you recommend and job #2 is to remember to keep it in the truck. You wouldn't believe how many times I pop up on nice finds and realize I don't even have a knife in the truck even though I own several. I would like to know how many years has this chicken has grown here and how many its got to go. I'm really fortunate to have access to this tree and I'm super grateful every time I harvest one here. Same to you my man, we're halfway through the week!

I wish I knew how much longer that mushroom will keep growing but dont know either sorry man. I do know on completely rotted dead trees the other species will only go so long and then done(maybe 3-5 years). I use to find them on a few oak and it seems they produced flushes for about 3 seasons then no more again. Im ready for this week to be done man lol. That was one massive tree!!! I wish we had more woods close to the home here but Im thankful for what I do have at least ya know

Yeah! I need to have a big TH-cam mushroom fry. I will be sharing this one for sure, and I found a lot more stuff that same day. About the logs I think these sweetgums will go at least three years, I did some in Alabama that are on their 3rd year now. Possibly 4 or more but I'm not there yet. My oysters produced like crazy for 2 years and the logs were pretty much gone after that. I bet oak would out last the sweet gum. It's a whole subject I want to explore farther.
That’s massive, so cool! Interesting to hear about the differences and also see them compared to the sulphureus. I was looking at all of that dried leaf on the ground and thinking how much I’d love to have that for my compost bins 😄
Yeah and I'm pretty sure they get bigger! Wasn't expecting that when I went. I found 4 kinds of stuff that day, it was nuts! Yeah, that stuff like gold and that place has especially thick leaves on the ground. But right now its so loud walking though the woods I have to stop walking to film or its super loud. Have a good one!
I cut the usable stuff of and put it away until this weekend. There is a lot of it I prefer not to use but I still filled up 1 1/2 whole food bags with the best part. I'm honestly flooded with about 4-5 kinds of mushrooms now so I'm going to have to give some away and use up the rest and maybe save some for later. It seems to be all or none with the mushrooms.
