I just went through the same kind of noise . Scrolling through the internet some guy said he smoothed the ridges on the clutch cone on the opposite side of the spring.with the help of a table belt sander , I smoothed the ridges. No more noise!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nicely done, sometimes having too high of a chain tension can cause this. These cheap coaster brakes are a copy of the original Bendix design. Next up, 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub overhaul. 😀😀

you got it fixed, i never would've figured out the problem. this is somehow slightly harder to diagnose than an internal gear hub.
