I applaud your husband's painting skills. I can't let my hubby come close to a paintbrush. I'm the painter in the family! My kids do the dishes too. Since one is challenged, I secretly have to re-do some. But I give him the chance to feel responsible. He's always so proud to contribute.
I love seeing your kids doing age appropriate chores. I don’t feel like a lot of people are teaching kids to participate in family chores and care of the home anymore. What happens when they leave the house? Childhood can be fun and still include responsibility.
Yessss!!! My 3 year old does chores for her age and my fam gives me stuff for it sometimes that I'm punishing her 🥴 I'm like hey hey i want my kid to know how to do basic things cause momma ain't guuna be around forever
Yes! My 2,5 year old loves to help also, especially to put away the cutlery. Sometimes when I do it she even tells me to stop and takes over 😂 won’t stop her obviously

I don't know if anyone has told you this, but you and Dave are the cutest couple. You guys are a beautiful family, and I love watching your videos! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
For us, it’s gardening that has really been amazing for us this year. We planted 20 fruit trees, built above ground gardens, did some container gardening too. We built 2 chicken coops and 1 duck coop and got some to put in each. I fell in love with our property all over again. Oh and we replaced the ugly old lady door with a super cute craftsman style one we found at lowes. This has been a super productive year for us. Forced time home helped bring my family back together.
Yes! And they say to always begin brushing from your ends and working your way up. (Who is they, you ask? Experts?? Magazines?? I don't actually recall. Hahaha)
LOL! The beige wall color is what our living/foyer/halls are painted now. What we did in Q was new carpet (looks a lot like your carpet) and new wood floors in the kitchen/dining/foyer, that used to be tile and carpet. LOVE! And the pancakes - that's how my dad made them growing up! Love it!
Watching this trying to get motivated to start my day...your voice, energy is infectious and it makes me want to get up and be productive with a joyful attitude.
Here in the UK, that yellow-y, old looking wall colour is called “Magnolia” and it is the bane of my life! Every single rental is painted this colour and of course, you can’t change it cause you can’t paint rentals here. I’m very lucky I rent my current house directly from the landlord (no agency!) and he is the sweetest man in the world as is happy for me to paint the house whatever colour I want. Luckily for him, I just like plain old white walls. 😂
We worked on our house for 10 years..redoing everything...we live in Florida. Tiled the entire house ..painted every wall. Redid doors etc etc. Very satisfying...you get so exciting can totally relate. For us tile is so easy peasy. A broom and cedar mop make cleaning fun...
I took all my interior doors down, sanded and painted them with white satin CABINET ENAMEL. It's excellent on doors and trim because they get as much wear as cabinets do,and two coats does it (I know, I was expecting at least 3 as scuffed and badly painted as they were before!). It came out PERFECT. New matte black hardware too. This makes a HUGE difference for a modest price.
We are currently doing a complete kitchen remodel. New flooring, cabnets, granite, butcher block, black-splash. And paint eventually. For some reason we decided to wait 5 years until we had a 1 year old to do this. We are mid remodel right now. New cabinets and flooring are in but we are waiting on granite. Your house is looking so good. They are my favorite videos of yours to watch right now!

I totally get get where you're coming from. We bought our house 10 years ago and the entire house was baby blue with southwest border in 95% of the house except for our bedroom which was a dusty rose and flower border. Needless to say it has taken be the last 10 years to completely re-paint every bedroom except for 1 that i have left that is completely white of all things, lol......and completely remodel our kids bathroom down to the 2x4's. Love the color you picked out, and it is so satisfying to do minor home projects that completely transform your house. Good job !!
I’ve been painting as well. Goodbye yellowish colour, hello white!. My favourite part of painting is when the baseboards, trim and doors get painted. Everything looks so clean!
I’m an expert painter because I watched “Trading Spaces!” I love it! Yes, I do find it satisfying to watch time lapsed walls being done. I've been cleaning and organizing closets, drawers, pantries- you name it ! I love it ! Makes me feel so good to see how much more beautiful the space in my house can be
Current home project is fixing the walls and painting in our 13 year old daughter’s room. The chimney for our new wood stove had to go through her bedroom on the second floor. We have also replaced a light fixture in the kitchen and have a bunch more we want to replace in the house.
For the catch all, have you looked into having it done locally? I know because of the pandemic a lot of people are out of work. That Commisson could put food on the table for another family plus having that exact piece of furniture you have in mind made just for you! :)
We're doing MAJOR minimizing and decluttering during these lovely covid times. I have an extra long minivan with the back seats removed and we have done two trips to the donation centre with it packed full and another trip with just a couple of boxes, plus a few extra bags of garbage and recycling. Next spring we'll be building a backyard chicken coop and we'll be doing major basement renovations in the next year or so converting a tiny attached garage to a couple of bedrooms.
Getting ready to update our living room with new to us carpet, new paint, and a new set of picture frames. I am soooo excited! We also just added a new to us stainless steel oven/stove and matching microwave to our kitchen, which has been fun!
I repainted my entire home in grey and white. New charcoal carpet, new wood look long floor tiles, personally made sheer curtains for every room and finally some new furniture now that the kids have left home! We lived with the old horrible stuff for about 12 years! We are both retired now!
I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. Days like today I don’t want to move from my couch and watching you gives me the extra motivation I need to get things done. 🥰
I'm spending tons of time organizing my galley kitchen for my own preferences as I am now living in a one person home. It's the first time in my life that I'm taking the time to organize in the way that suits my cooking style and needs. Whoo hoo!

In my apartment I cannot change much, but around the bathroom sink are 70's yellow tiles with white walls. Horribly ugly. I bought tile stickers, just like removable wallpaper but for tile, after applying the tile designs I picked out, which are gray and white, and painted the bathroom a darker gray it looks like a huge renovation took place. Then when I move I can just peel off the stickers. Love it!

Christine, you should consider using rice water as a final rinse on your hair after your shower. There is a ton of info on TH-cam about it. I started about a year ago and OMG you can't imagine how effective it was at stopping my hair from falling out and taking away the brittle! I just put about 1/4 cup of clean rice in a mason jar, fill it with filtered water and put it the cupboard for 24-32 hours. I know it's ready when I tap the jar and bubbles float up. Transfer only the water portion to the fridge to stop it from fermenting further. To use it, I put about 1/8 cup in a squirt bottle and add 7/8 warm water and take it to the shower. At the very end of my shower I do a final hair rinse with it, squeeze the excess then pop on a towel. Huge difference!
Hubby put in a new kitchen sink. Went from a double sink to one big one. I LOVE it! He also put up a new ceiling fan in the living room. Bigger fan, brighter lights.
I used to be a cosmetologist & it is normal to loose 90-100 hairs a day. As we get older, hormones can make you loose more hair & that is genetics too. Also, you have great bone structure with your high cheek bones, you're lovely!
I thought I was the only one who drink in the shower. I take a 1 litre waterbottle with me and try to get all of it done during the shower. Mostly I do that is the summer . About putting products on your skin, don´t smear, it you will get much more benefitfrom it if you pat/tap/press everything in. Try, it even feels different on the first attempt.
Since quarantine we have changed painted our guest bath, replaced 2 toilets, painted the kitchen cabinets, painted the family room and hallway, and next week we are having a security screen put in. Next we need to paint our master bedroom and then I want to replace the sink and kitchen counter but don't tell my husband that I'm already plotting his next project.
Hi Christine! Love love love these videos. You always get me in the groove to get my house projects done. Would love to make that soup 😋 When you get a chance, can you please link it in the doobileedoo?? Haha Your family is gorgeous, sending you all love from Aus 💚💛💚💛
Your resident interior designer here, it’s soffit not bulkhead 😊 excellent paint color choices! Good job!!! Also, have you ever considered staining your kitchen cabinets? I do love all the changes to the kitchen - the counters are SO good and also the backsplash love that the tile goes all the way up at the window!!
Being from Iowa I laughed a little when I heard "Iowa Pine". Being originally from Minnesota I feel like we have NO pine trees here! Great job as always! Thanks Christine!
I love that you love David Tennant!! He is amazing!! Ever since I saw him first on Doctor Who, I have continued to search for and watch everything he’s been in and have not been disappointed! ❤️
I love your posts that start with fitness!!! Kudos to Dave on running while holding a camera backwards and getting such a steady shot (saw the shadow!) -- stellar skilllzzz!!! You are so smart to take good care of your skin while still in your 30s! And I totally hear you on the 'chubby, full face' all through my youth. It finally slimmed down when I hit 40 -- I remember gazing at myself in the mirror and being surprised about it, lol. I thought I was doing so well on the aging thing, then it's like the minute I hit 45 lots of instant aging started happening -- seemingly overnight on a lot of it. A girl can't take too much care of her skin, and the sooner you start the better, IMO. Unfortunately, I did a lot of tanning in the 70s/80s (sans sunscreen of course, cuz who even heard of it back then??) Then I got into tanning beds while living in midwest. HUGE mistake, got lots of age spots and other skin issues, no doubt from the tanning beds. I made my daughter swear they'll never use one!!
Currently my husband and I are getting ready to to buy our first home and move out of our apartment in the next few months so no improvements at the moment but planning for when we move. We're excited to be looking at homes and planning how to decorate
Your updated wall color looks like the colors on our wall. We recently redid the kitchen, and saw that the old paint was the color of your old paint. It definitely brightens it up! We don't have anything planned at the moment, but we redid our kitchen, we took out all the cabinets and counters, got two wire shelves, and totes for all the pantry food. My husband built an open counter for our sink, and then we painted one wall bright, matte orange.
Yassss!!!! Painting trims are the worst! We are in the middle of painting too and dread going over the trims!! Have you thought about refurbishing your dinning table? Like.. chalky white or lite gray would look great and add more lightness to your kitchen!
I am painting my laundry over here in sunny São Paulo, all the way down in Brazil. I live in a small apartment and my laundry is tiny. It will be a lovely shade of PURPLE! Brazilians are all about white everywhere. I, however, have a rainbow of an apartment.
I am in the paperwork purge stage prior to Christmas and hopefully a main floor painting early 2021. Saw something on TH-cam about painting the floor boards and all woodwork the same colour as the entire wall to make it look bigger and I think I might try it!
Your kids are adorable ... Your entire family is sweet and very relatable. ** Black sinks are super difficult to keep shiny, but if you're diligent in cleaning/wiping it should be fine. I think a spray of white vinegar also keeps it clean and shiny.
I don't know if you see comments a year out, but this video just popped up on my utube. I am so excited about Yaktrax. Winter walking around in NYC is an absolute nightmare of slip and falls. Most stores and buildings are good neighbors about sidewalk maintenance, but there are enough bad neighbors to make anyone over the age of 30 dread winter. It's May, but I am gonna order some right now. My old bones thank you so much.
The paint looks great! We repainted all our interior walls this summer and are now working on replacing the laminate flooring with hardwood flooring in the upstairs.
I'm working on starting a vegetable garden, which I need to get weeded first. Husby is kinda helping. I mean, I bought him gloves, but he doesn't seem super keen so far. Love how much your hubby helps with house projects.
Our house project we just gutted our whole basement..... working on getting the bathroom and bedroom done. So we can use those two rooms while we work on getting the rest of the basement finished and start on putting the baby nursery together. :) we have 4 1/2 months to get it all put together.
Love that I took a screen shot to show my husband the buffet in your kitchen bc it’s exactly what we need and then the next video you talk about hating it. Haha
I am doing the exact same pairing project at my house!!! We have the weird tan/yellow on ALL the walls and ALL the ceilings!!! Luckily white trim so we just do 1 quick coat on that. It is so much work!!!
I started renovating a home office since I have been working from home since April 1 and likely until next April 1. I have dropped the ball. I have one wall painted, light switch covers still off and a piece of furniture half-sanded for repainting. I fail a lot but I look to you for encouragement after God of course.
Where do I even start with the house projects! We moved into the house we're in now just over a year ago. We've had and have several house projects that we've decided to tackle. It's an older house (built in the 50's). There's a 1 car attached garage we are turning into a master bedroom. We tore up the old ugly carpet and replaced it with hard floors. (The hard floors alone have made a world of difference in the appearance of the house). We are slowly replacing the kitchen appliances, one appliance at a time. The kitchen when we moved in was already a mishmash of white and stainless appliances (like what!?). Lots of painting as well. We are also tearing down the old patio cover to put up a new one, considering closing in the patio to have enclosed outdoor space. Then a bunch of other random stuff, we replaced one of the old toilets, need to install gutters around the shop building (a 1776 sq ft. Workshop on the property). Etc. Etc. I could go on but I'm rambling at this point. There has definitely been no shortage of house projects here as well.
2020--The year of the home renovation. It all started with a leaking french door in our breakfast nook. Had to tear out a wall and replace outside siding. Removed the leaking door and replaced it with a huge window that let in sooooo much more light. Also had to replace drywall and some ceiling. Then came texture and paint. Realizing that the entire house needed to be painted inside and out we hired my brother-in-law's brother to do all the painting. Well, the flooring in the breakfast nook needed to be replaced so what did we do, we replaced all the flooring downstairs with the exception of the bedrooms and bathrooms. But wait, there's more. We painted the upstairs while we were painting and replaced the carpet on the stairs and in the office. After all that, we tackled the decks. We sanded and stained the downstairs deck and two porches. And we're not done yet. We still have a pantry to replace flooring in/ After that, we will renovate the master bedroom and master bathroom--new carpet, new paint, new doors, new shower, bigger closet, new tile in the bathroom. We are absolutely crazy!!!!
Our kitchen/dining and living room was peach and salmon colored!! Yellow toned colors are hard to paint over. We just finished putting in all new floors, doors and trim! I'm absolutely in love with it 😍 Next summer is our kitchen!
Repainted the laundry floor and my art office floor of our basement from the same paint I used on the floor before. Totally looks cleaner and brighter. Finally painted my youngest one's clothes closet that we didn't get around doing while we were moving in. Made an old desk into my tiny kitchen island so that I have storage for wash clothes and hand towels, scale, and love having more surface area to spread my stuff around. Out of the leftover wood made shelves to maximum use the vertical space in the cabinets and closets. Other wood projects I made shelves for the kids school station instead of going out to buy some. I wanted to be the kind of person who will actually use scrap wood instead of storing them forever and never use them while I drain my funds buying new things all the time. Cut out old rotten wooden trim outside and replaced with new wood primed and painted and caulked. Recemented in cement blocks that was underneath our sliding glass door foundation for the first time. Next spring we will see how well I did. I love working with my hands, being creative and resourceful. Our house is not up scale: boxes used as shelves and storage, furniture doesn't match, still using leftover dish ware given when we just got married, homemade couches made from broken closet doors, etc.
When you asked Dave what he thought about the runner and vase, he laughed, and then you cut it out. It Mades me think YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO “OUT TAKES” OF ALL OF YOU. I bet we all would be laughing and in tears!🥰💙💜
Not sure if it's mentioned in the comments below, but the issue with the paint is that you don't need the primer to be opaque. One coat is enough. The purpose of primer is to properly cover the old color and give adhesion for the new. So a single streaky coat of primer is fine. One coat of primer and two of paint is typical. OR two coats with a touch up if the paint has built in primer.
Love seeing all the cultural differences! :D "Can't have glass, because my kids will break it". My family never used plastic, they were just like "That's a crystal glass you are holding, break it and I will break you" :D Welcome to Slavic parenting :D

Painted and stained my secondhand china cabinet. It looks AMAZING and I'm embarrassingly proud of myself.
It's nice to see children doing chores
OMG the teasers about the home projects! I can't take it! TOO EXCITED! Let's hope you end up doing the "doozy" because I'm so curious!
Painting my kitchen cabinets! I love my kitchen for the first time.
Love y'all, love to see the snow!
The Weekend's Blinding Lights is really good!!
Hi Christine! Love love love these videos. You always get me in the groove to get my house projects done. Would love to make that soup 😋
When you get a chance, can you please link it in the doobileedoo?? Haha
Your family is gorgeous, sending you all love from Aus 💚💛💚💛
A Place to Call Home is a wonderful show! Love it!
Christine and Dave, goals
I love it, when your mum is in your videos.
Haha
I have had Acorn for years, I have watched pretty much everything on there! I love Mondays! I also have Britbox. Love them both.
I am doing the exact same pairing project at my house!!! We have the weird tan/yellow on ALL the walls and ALL the ceilings!!! Luckily white trim so we just do 1 quick coat on that. It is so much work!!!
Acorn tv is awesome!! Discovered it when I was searching for new episodes of Doc Martin!!! Absolutely love that show !
I do the same thing with pancakes. We’ll say it’s “efficient”
Youre family is so sweet. I really enjoy your videos!
20 degrees...I can't even imagine. Its 78 degrees here in Florida.
Me too I live in Florida I can't see myself running unless someone chasing me😀
Its 84 in Southern California 🥺
I love A Place to Call Home - I’m in Melbourne Australia. Have watched the entire series numerous times!
I just made that same soup again today after eating it all week for lunch. Today's soup is for my friends!
I find that when I go looking for something knowing “exactly what I want “, I never ever find it! 😂😂 Good luck finding your new hutch! 😊😊❤️
"You can't sprint to Enya" Words to live by.
Love seeing all the cultural differences! :D "Can't have glass, because my kids will break it". My family never used plastic, they were just like "That's a crystal glass you are holding, break it and I will break you" :D Welcome to Slavic parenting :D
I have to say your basement colors match my bathroom color. Including the ceiling. Love the changes!
I finally gave in and bought a portable washing machine. So super happy that I can reduce my trips to the laundromat.
LOL! I bought restaurant glasses 25+ years ago for the same reason, and we also used them in our camper. I laugh because no one will let me get rid of them, even though everyone is all grown up now! I like yours; mine are just clear and boring.
Doc Martin!! Enjoy!
I LOVE those cups!! I have 1 cup like those that I always end up gravitating toward it
