I will carry either a compact 'wonder 9' or my Officers' model Colt, depending on what I'm up to. If a guy lives in a state where mag capacity is limited to 10... might as well carry 10 big ol' Jesus Rocks. I always saw the wonder 9s as just a tool... I had no love for them, they just served a purpose. However, since I put the Apex flatty trigger kit in my M&P 2.0 Compact (at 5 lbs) I have a whole new relationship with that pistol. It's no 1911 trigger, but it's about as good as striker-fired guns get.

Yep, I agree. The standard loadout for 10mm Tough Guys is 200gns @ 1200fps. It's also known as a "Sonny Crockett Load." No watered-down 40-level junk ammo. That's for 10mm Posers - panty-waist types who buy a 10mm G20 but then swap-out the 10mm barrel for a 40S&W drop-in barrel and shoot only 40 ammo thru it, or at least more than they shoot 10mm, unless it's that downloaded Blazer shit (200gns @ 1050fps or 180gns @ 1100fps). Bottom line: don't be a 10mm Poser. Just buy a .40 pistol and be done with it ... Nope, if you wanna be a 10mm Tough Guy, you stick to shooting REAL 10mm ammo or equivalent handloads. Not only will it put a smile on your face, there'll be one less Poser running around to embarrass the rest of us. ;--/)

Original Norma 10mm load from a Bren Ten 5", was a 170 grain JHP at 1400 fps. (740.05 ft./lbs. ME). This was back in the 80's. The S&B 180 JHP is listed at 1165 fps. (542.6 ft./lbs. ME).
10mm didn't come out first. John Browning created the first prototype 40 cal (40 RAD) on April 20,1897. He made 5 but died before he perfected the gun and cartridge. Then the great Jeff Cooper who teamed up with Whit Collins and Guns and Ammo in the early 1970's started on .40 caliber project which created the 40 G&A. Later on Jeff Cooper along with Nora Ammunition company in 1979 created the 10mm. Smith and Wesson is the company that's awarded with perfecting it in the 80's but not creating it after the 10mm.

10mm really is the ultimate round for a handgun, in my opinion. Best for urban combat, best for fending off bears and other natural threats, it's just wonderful all the way around. G20 is a great pistol, but this new one, WOW, right?
Gotta love the people saying 50 gi is more powerful but forget that power doesn't come from just caliber for example 50 gi maxes out at 600 ft lbs while 10mm maxes out at 700 ft lbs from shorter barrels 800-900 ft lbs out of longer barrels so yes this long barrel 10mm is the strongest factory glock

Agreed! Also, Underwood makes coated hard cast rounds that are cleaner to shoot through the OEM polygonal rifled barrel. They are pretty comparable to the Buffalo Bore in performance as well. I haven't had any issues with the 200 g in my stock G40. Haven't tried the 220 g though.
People only talk about Underwood and Buffalo Bore when discussing 10mm ammo, but there's several videos online where Federal Trophy Bonded for 10mm has outperformed both of them! On chronographs, the Underwood still had better velocities, but the Trophy Bonded did more damage to the target.
I think u mean replace the glock factory bbl which has polygonal rifling , and get an aftermarket bbl Lone Wolf or KKM which has the traditional button style rifling that can handle hardcast lead projectiles. Whatever you do, do not shoot hardcast lead loads like Lehigh, Underwood xtreme penetrators or Buffalo Bore's through a glock factory bbl. Unless u want your gun to blow up in ur face . Due to the polygonal rifling in glock OEM bbl's Hardcast lead projectiles will gum up the polygonal rifling, which will create a dangerous high pressure issue in said bbl which may cause your gun to blow up in your hands and cause serious injury and or potentially fatal injuries. You must always remember that the 10 mm cartridge is an extremely high- pressure cartridge. Go out there and have fun, But do it safely.
The 45 ACP round was meant to be a large lumbering round that does not penetrate through what you intend on hitting most of the time, the 9 mm with today's cartridges are pretty much equal, being skilled with whatever tool you have at hand is the biggest key.
The Glock 10-millimeter which I own one is only powerful when you buy the proper ammo for it. Some manufacturers of 10 mm ammo only load them about the same as 40 caliber. A good example is federal 180 grain 10 mm ammo. Averaged 1,010 FPS through a chronograph. Some brands I have tried we're pushing around 1200 feet per second with 180 grain bullets. And some other brands are in between.
I have a G23 with a Lone Wolf .357Sig barrel in it. Best of both worlds...practice with .40 ammo, swap out the barrel and ammo in the mags for EDC and I run 125Gr. Cor-Bon for that purpose.
@@whiplash8277 totally, the g23 +lone wolf sig combo is what got me into the sig. The 24 came about before I got a sig ar as I was realizing that the longer the barrel the more it out performs against my 9's of the same size... Though it gets weird by 16 inches the jhp's separate and fracture into multiple pieces in the target, it works for hunting; but only out to 300 yards. If you reload try makin some with 357 mag wad-cutter projectiles. It takes a little fenagaling to get them to feed and headspace just right, but the results are both shocking and incredible.

Works pretty well on wild hogs too, had A coworker that loved handgun hunting with that load, that's where I first heard about it. Last I saw it sells under the name "Civil Defense".

I.e. won't go through any rifle rated body armor and most soft body armor. its doing the work of the body armor for it buy expanding and breaking up. And with how short a 40 cal bullet would have to be to only weigh 60grn it would be shaped like a watch battery so accuracy out the window past 20yrds. And even if you hit soft tissue it wouldn't penetrate deep. It hasn't even broken the sound barrier yet. you traded all that weight for 800fps and still arent fast enough to cause shock wave damage Also 60grn at 2000fps is nowhere near 5.56 performance. 5.56 is going 3000fps and the good black hills stuff that the pigs you’re talking about use are 77grn. Love my G40! I put a Leopold Delta point pro on it and use it for deer hunting. You should have put some full load 10mm in it and let them feel the recoil. I don't understand why every single company dilute 10 mm?
I personally think the Glock 20 and Glock 40 is so much of an investment, because if you want to be shooting those heavier harder hitting rounds, you would need a barrel that would cost roughly $200, and that heavier ammo is going to be a lot more expensive as well, for self-defense I think it's a pretty bad purchase, just go with a 17 or 45, but as a sidearm for hunting I think it's a pretty badass gun, although you are starting to enter 50 ae desert eagle territory once you factor in the barrel and ammo, personally I would just go for the desert eagle since I'm already spending roughly that much to have a big bad round
My wilderness carry has been Glock 20 10mm for the last 5-6 years. Excellent sidearm with the potency of .41 mag with the right ammo-I use Underwood 200gr hardcast-and 15+1. I put night sights on it. What’s not to love?

That's for 10mm Posers - panty-waist types who buy a 10mm G20 but then swap-out the 10mm barrel for a 40S&W drop-in barrel and shoot only 40 ammo thru it, or at least more than they shoot 10mm, unless it's that downloaded Blazer shit (200gns @ 1050fps or 180gns @ 1100fps). Bottom line: don't be a 10mm Poser. Just buy a .40 pistol and be done with it ... Nope, if you wanna be a 10mm Tough Guy, you stick to shooting REAL 10mm ammo or equivalent handloads. Original Norma 10mm load from a Bren Ten 5", was a 170 grain JHP at 1400 fps. (740.05 ft./lbs. ME). This was back in the 80's. The S&B 180 JHP is listed at 1165 fps. (542.6 ft./lbs. ME).
Fun fact. The Norma 200 fmj was a little over 1200fps with 610 ft/lbs. Had a 1006 & a1076 + a Delta in the late 80s early 90s.
10mm didn't come out first. John Browning created the first prototype 40 cal (40 RAD) on April 20,1897. He made 5 but died before he perfected the gun and cartridge. Then the great Jeff Cooper who teamed up with Whit Collins and Guns and Ammo in the early 1970's started on .40 caliber project which created the 40 G&A. Later on Jeff Cooper along with Nora Ammunition company in 1979 created the 10mm. Smith and Wesson is the company that's awarded with perfecting it in the 80's but not creating it after the 10mm.

Change that barrel out without polygonal rifling, and use buffalo bore hard cast and you can take anything on the north american continent.

Also, Underwood makes coated hard cast rounds that are cleaner to shoot through the OEM polygonal rifled barrel. They are pretty comparable to the Buffalo Bore in performance as well. I haven't had any issues with the 200 g in my stock G40. Haven't tried the 220 g though.
Change the barrel for a 9 mm Dillon and also use Underwood not Buffalo Bore
Underwood deep penetrators are better.
People only talk about Underwood and Buffalo Bore when discussing 10mm ammo, but there's several videos online where Federal Trophy Bonded for 10mm has outperformed both of them! On chronographs, the Underwood still had better velocities, but the Trophy Bonded did more damage to the target.
I think u mean replace the glock factory bbl which has polygonal rifling , and get an aftermarket bbl
Lone Wolf or KKM which has the traditional button style rifling that can handle hardcast lead projectiles.
Whatever you do, do not shoot hardcast lead loads like Lehigh, Underwood xtreme penetrators or
Buffalo Bore's through a glock factory bbl. Unless u want your gun to blow up in ur face . Due to the polygonal rifling in glock OEM bbl's
Hardcast lead projectiles will gum up the polygonal rifling, which will create a dangerous high pressure issue in said bbl which may cause your gun to blow up in your hands
and cause serious injury and or potentially fatal injuries.
You must always remember that the
10 mm cartridge is an extremely high- pressure cartridge.

The 45 ACP round was meant to be a large lumbering round that does not penetrate through what you intend on hitting most of the time, the 9 mm with today's cartridges are pretty much equal, being skilled with whatever tool you have at hand is the biggest key.
A 230gr ACP weigh twice as much as a 115gr 9mm and hp open up much bigger. There is nothing equal.

The Glock 10-millimeter which I own one is only powerful when you buy the proper ammo for it. Some manufacturers of 10 mm ammo only load them about the same as 40 caliber. A good example is federal 180 grain 10 mm ammo. Averaged 1,010 FPS through a chronograph. Some brands I have tried we're pushing around 1200 feet per second with 180 grain bullets. And some other brands are in between.

Yeah for range ammo it's really just S&B and magtech. All other 10mm range ammo sucks and is really just expensive 40s&w
Buffalo Bore Has 220gr load rated at 1200fps and a 180gr load rated with 1350fps. Both from a 5 inch 1911 no long barrel carbine.

I almost got the 40, ended up building a g24 with a 7 inch 357 sig barrel; I have no regrets.
I have a G23 with a Lone Wolf .357Sig barrel in it. Best of both worlds...practice with .40 ammo, swap out the barrel and ammo in the mags for EDC and I run 125Gr. Cor-Bon for that purpose.
@@whiplash8277 totally, the g23 +lone wolf sig combo is what got me into the sig. The 24 came about before I got a sig ar as I was realizing that the longer the barrel the more it out performs against my 9's of the same size... Though it gets weird by 16 inches the jhp's separate and fracture into multiple pieces in the target, it works for hunting; but only out to 300 yards.
If you reload try makin some with 357 mag wad-cutter projectiles. It takes a little fenagaling to get them to feed and headspace just right, but the results are both shocking and incredible.

Works pretty well on wild hogs too, had A coworker that loved handgun hunting with that load, that's where I first heard about it. Last I saw it sells under the name "Civil Defense".

I.e. won't go through any rifle rated body armor and most soft body armor. its doing the work of the body armor for it buy expanding and breaking up. And with how short a 40 cal bullet would have to be to only weigh 60grn it would be shaped like a watch battery so accuracy out the window past 20yrds. And even if you hit soft tissue it wouldn't penetrate deep. It hasn't even broken the sound barrier yet. you traded all that weight for 800fps and still arent fast enough to cause shock wave damage Also 60grn at 2000fps is nowhere near 5.56 performance. 5.56 is going 3000fps and the good black hills stuff that the pigs you’re talking about use are 77grn. I personally think the Glock 20 and Glock 40 is so much of an investment, because if you want to be shooting those heavier harder hitting rounds, you would need a barrel that would cost roughly $200, and that heavier ammo is going to be a lot more expensive as well, for self-defense I think it's a pretty bad purchase, just go with a 17 or 45, but as a sidearm for hunting I think it's a pretty badass gun, although you are starting to enter 50 ae desert eagle territory once you factor in the barrel and ammo, personally I would just go for the desert eagle since I'm already spending roughly that much to have a big bad round
