    I hope that comment about rubbing deer piss on you was a joke that’s a good way to get killed by a buck in rut it’s used on some sort of wick or sent bombs as they are called to lure them in not apply it to ones person FYI just thought I throw that out there

      Every morning, I wake up before dawn to milk the deer, for the freshest deer pee. Some of it, I use to make butter, while some will be made into cheese for the winter. But the finest, choicest, most delicious-est deer pee, I keep for myself. After fermenting it in a barrel for three months, I filter it, and distill it into the most arouseful scent this side of the Appalachias. Ungulatte -- a scent for powerful men.

    Dude, I really enjoyed every minute of this review...every time I thought I was going find something you did to be arrogant, and then you came across as totally humble and down to earth. Very impressed, and I bought a Glock 40 right as the pandemic began, thought it to be absolutely ridiculous and traded it for a brand new HK VP9-L.
    I miss the Glock, long boy that it is, and am looking for a replacement. This video only solidified that. Nicely done.

    The Glock 20 was definitely a saving grace for me when the pandemic hit , all the ammo was flying off the shelf here in San Antonio Texas, I would stand in long lines with other folks who were disappointed when they reached the sales counter and there would be no 9MM available....but there was always PLENTY of 10MM I managed to get a nice stockpile as I didn't have to compete with others , 😀

    Dude, fantastic review!! I adore my Glock 40 and find myself reaching for it every time I go to the range. Firing this gun is more fun than being drunk at breakfast and 9mm just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I use my G40 as my home defense gun and OWB carry and haven’t looked back. Several employees at my local gun shop carry Glock 40s and are just enthusiastic about 10mm and the G40. We’re a different breed lol. Welcome to the family!!! Btw, there are 30 round mags that will fit that Glock and are super fuckin’ sick.

    I'm from the Netherlands, my wife is from the US and I can't wait to buy this or a Glock20 when I can. I also intend to hike through a lot of bear country for fun and after a ton of research this is the best all-round do everything gun. Great review man! I have only gotten the chance to shoot a bolt action rifle and 12 gauge double barrel in the Netherlands plus Airsoft back in the day. I can't wait to have a blast with this thing, put the heaviest hitting rounds I can find and tame that 10mm on the range!

    Love the video. First new gun I ever bought was a model 40 when they first came out. I’ve got close to 3k through mine, my favorite gun to carry around out in the wilderness here in AK. Word of advice for optics, you’re going to need to replace the screws that come in the kit for the optics. For what ever reason they’re super short and won’t hold an optic securely. Also if you want to shoot hard cast, KKM makes amazing barrels and seem to be the only aftermarket barrel that work for the 10mm

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words! As for the screws, yeah, I hope no one is using the stock Glock screws. The CHWPS plate can be modified to fit this gun, but it'd be nice if they'd release a drop-in model.

    I've carried a 10mm most of my adult life...starting in 1987. I got the bug after watching Miami Vice and bought a Colt Delta after they had been out a year or two. I shot the first one loose and bought a second. Later I bought a Dan Wesson Pointman 7 in 10mm and shot some local/regional IPSC in the early 90's. Eventually Glock produced this 40 MOS and I just had to have one. It now operates with a 7" KKM barrel and is my CCW of choice. I have an IWB holster that also holds an extra mag. Once you wear it for a while, you don't even know its there.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You've got good taste! How are you liking the KKM thus far? Though I've not found them to be as reliable as I'd like, there are few thing as enjoyable to shoot as a 1911. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

      I was only five years old in 1987, but I got on the 10mm bandwagon as soon as I could. I have been carrying a Gen III G20 for almost 20 years now, always stoked with something like Double Tap 180 gr Gold Dots or my current favorite, the Underwood 200 gr XTPs. I have been eyeing the G40 for a while now. My only concern is that once I get my hands on one, my G20 will take a back seat and I will feel compelled to carry the G40 with me everywhere!

    The longer barrel side does help with recoil. Yea there’s more mass but the weight is out front. The weight out front (long barrel, slide) is a counter balance to the rearward reciprocation of the slide. The guns pivot point is in the web of the hand. The slide hitting its rearward travel is the muzzle flip u feel. Having more weight out front is again a counter balance to this aspect of recoil. Tungsten guide rods, wml’s, frame weights, bull barrels and of course long slides all contribute to this counter balance. This why the 17lL was kicked out of competition.

    I'm rolling my own with hornady xtp 180 grain over 9 grains of longshot producing 1280 fps outta my stock g20 4.6 barrel at over 650 ft lbs! When I drop in my 6 inch kkm barrel it spikes this same load up to 1380 and over 750 ft lbs! So yeah, that extra inch and a half really puts the cherry on top!

    • @SapperGentleman
      @SapperGentleman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thegunpenguin A Smith Model 10. 🤣 The 10mm was a buddy's Tangfolio that I shot. I had never shot a 10mm before, which is weird and wrong. What was cool is that his gun is really a 9, and he has a 10mm conversion kit for it, so I was able to shoot them back to back, and really get an "apples to apples" comparison. It definitely strikes me as the semi-auto version of 357Magnum.

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SapperGentleman Your Model 10 is super cool! I'm very jealous of that one. And yeah, I think that comparison is apt. Like .357, the recoil is often overstated, and if you put the time in, it can be extremely effective. I don't dare to think what that Tanfoglio and kit would've cost your friend.

    Looks like you guys have had better luck with your G40 than mine. I bought one when they first came out with the intention to hunt deer. First off I’ve shot regularly since I was a kid and I’m 55 now. I am a Glock guy. But my G40 is the most inaccurate gun I’ve ever owned. Shooting on a lead sled I get 1 foot groups at 25 yards, 2 foot at 50 yards and can barely hit a half sheet of plywood at 100 yards. And yea I’ve had multiple friends shoot it with the same results and used multiple brands of ammo . I sent it to Glock and they replaced the trigger bar and sent it back with targets showing 3-4 inch groups, only problem is those groups according to Glock was at 15 foot lolol. It just sits in the safe. Maybe one day I’ll gut it and put in all aftermarket parts.

    Solid review. I have all three 10mm Glocks. Yeah, maybe the 6.2" longslide makes the G40 a bit big for comfortable 'junk-point' carry (i.e., AIWB), but hey, that's what the G29 is for. Regardless, if you own one of these 10mm Glocks, you need to be shooting REAL 10mm ammo or handloads thru it, not the watered-down 40-level junk. You're wasting your money. Just sell or trade your 10mm Glock for a .40-whatever, and be done with it. Turn in your Man Card while you're at it too. 'Cause you're just embarrassing those of us who are serious 10mm users by shooting "10mm poser" ammo (a/k/a .40-level junk!) Not to mention, Sonny Crockett would be disgusted.

      @Aaron S .... I've shot all the Big Three Boutiques (Underwood, Buffalo Bore, and LOTS of Double Tap), but primarily shoot UW these days based on his pricing. It's pretty good for factory retail 10mm, and his ammo is the Real-Deal stuff. .... That said, most of what I feed my Glocks is handloaded: jacketed bullets for the G20 & G29, coated Hard Cast 220gn FN slugs for the G40 longslide. Long ago I settled on AA7 and AA9 as my go-to powders for making high-performance reloads. I use AA7 for bullets up to 180gns, and AA9 for the 200grn and 220grn bullets. ... With a 200grn Hornady FMJ-FP over AA9, my "Sonny Crockett Load" easily hits 1210fps! Yep, with that load it's 1985 all over again anytime I go to the range. Just need to get a white Armani jacket and some Wayfarers. LOL!

    10mm snob here. Been shooting 10mm since before it was cool. It really ruined other traditional service pistol cartridges for me. Now shooting 9mm and .45 is just so underwhelming and anticlimactic; like going back to masturbating after you've gotten used to real sex. Something is just missing and the entire experience just leaves you feeling " meh." It's alright, in the grand scheme of things, but you really just want the real deal back. And 10mm is the real deal, when you shoot Norma spec handloads and Underwood or Double Tap.
    Don't forget the 10mm Auto was designed as a duty pistol round to address the increasingly apparent shortcomings of the .45 ACP as a defensive and service pistol round, with input from Jeff Cooper, who was instrumental in developing and modernizing service handgun tactics. The 10mm Auto can be used for "huntin" and even for bear defense, in a pinch. Although if you've seen a grizzly up close in the wild as I have, no handgun is going to feel really adequate. I have taken several deer with my Glock 20, and it does fine. But the main purpose for the 10mm Auto was always anti-personal duty and defensive use, and some of us do in fact carry full power 10mm as our EDC in the woods and the hoods. As a do everything automatic pistol cartridge, the 10mm is about as good as it gets.

    I got the G40 MOS AND a G41 MOS both with KKM extended barrels. ..love them immensely! Whether it's 10MM or 45ACP, They take a bit of adjustment from smaller calibers, BUT once you are used to them, they are SPOT ON and effective! Love shooting long slides in both! I agree it's hard to go back to smaller caliber after you're used to it.

    I bought the M&P 10MM in 4" at the time. I prefer M&Ps overall to most anything, for the price. Though I do have a couple Glocks. But if I had it to do again, I'd have went with this exact gun. The 40 is just cool. And the extra 2" would be nice - She. One thing I've noticed as well with 10mm, you've got to keep practicing with it. If you lay off 10mm for awhile, it's a fairly rude awakening when you shoot it next lol. It's not like 9 or 40, or even 45. Those I can shoot 5 or 6 and ok, I'm there again. 10mm not so much. not real 10 anyway. Already having that MP10, I have decided I want a big 45. The Glock41 sister to this gun is on my short list. Cheers.

    Bro, three month's later and I love this gun. Can I carry it in public? Only in winter. That's fine. It's become my nightstand gun with the addition of a TLR-8, replacing my G17 in that regard. 180 JHP for the crib, yet the diversity I've been able to enjoy in range ammo is @#$%ing outstanding. Everything from 180 FMJ from the big companies to 200 grain FMJ from some of the smaller companies. 220 Hard cast BB as well. Holy shit, aside from the 220 it's very smooth. That trigger? dead on review. Now something we need to talk about, you and I. I got the fancy gun, fancy belt. Was not enough of course Han Solo! Got a RIA 1911 in 10mm as well, so because of you I am now two guns deep into 10mm and learning the 1911 platform. Thanks.

    Smart decision. You got yourself an effectively proven magnum Hunting& Tactical Defensive Pistol!
    The longer 6.2 inch barrel helps.
    KKM barrels are a good aftermarket choice of barrel especially when shooting Hard Cast Lead RFN rounds.
    Excellent for Hunting, Wilderness, Personal Self Defense, Home Defence & Apex Predatorial Beasts.
    Including, Wild Boar, Big Black Bear as well as Grizzley Bear, Moose, Elk.
    All you need to stop Wild Boar and Big Bears etc. Are Sold Metal or Hardcast Lead RFN Bullets in the cartridges. Like Underwood, Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, Hornady etc.
    Glock should come out with a Gen 5 model 40.

      I keep reading long barrel tames recoil but ballistically that isn't true. Longer barrels extend bullet dwell time. Recoil lasts longer and is more severe. Once the bullet leaves the barrel those forces drop to nill. The extra mass of a longer barrel can help mitigate recoil but better that mass was elsewhere.

    First of all, fantastic review!
    I love my GL 20 and have taken, many hogs, deer and an elk with it.
    I use 200/230 hard cast with gas check rounds.
    Foe my edc 180 HP.
    10 mm has always been a great secret based on some people hesitant to shoot it based on recoil.
    10 mm is also being manufactured by more companies then ever as well.
    It is a tad bit heavy but I carry it IWB just fine but you need a good kydex holster for sure.
    The enormous power in the 10 makes it worth wile and I echo your thoughts on the 9mm as well.
    My 20 is a slight bit pig nosed as well but I am certain it is by design. I have consulted for many gun companies and that is the nature of the beast with a larger framed polymer gun. Hard to beat the Glock,. My only lament is that it should have first come from The USA instead of Austria..
    Long story short the work, are safe (if the shooter is safe) and are extremely reliable.
    Once again great review!
