    I've lived in Phnom Penh for almost 20 years and $1200 a month is enough to live comfortably. You can even save money if you budget yourself. You can save money on rent and groceries, but you need to live here for awhile and shop around. I like living in the city everything is walking distance from my house.
    Great video.

      What job can you do to make $1,200 a month in 🇰🇭cambodia?

      Thanks Kevin, I'm glad my video aligns with your experience! I agree, it's covenient being in city everything is literally walking distance

      @@brucelee8926 It's difficult to make that much money if you are Khmer and working for someone else. I have lots of Cambodian friends that make more than that, but they are self employed and have their own businesses or they are high educated professionals. My advice to young people in Cambodia is to learn English and Chinese or another language. The more languages you can speak the better.

    Hello ladies and gents! Sorry the apartment walk thru was a bit shaky, I don't have proper video equipment so I just did what I can with what I have. I hope you guys found some value in this video.
    Before I came to Phnom Penh I really wanted to find a video that covered the basic living expenses so I could have an idea, which inspired me to make this video since I've been here for 3 months now and feel pretty comfortable to share my experience.
    Thanks for watching!

    Brother where are you buying your produce? I recommend going to the wet markets that is where you will find your cheaper products. In supermarkets is mostly imported expensive products.

    • @quanthachjourney
      @quanthachjourney  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Kai, it’s funny because I used to buy from wet markets until I realized I overpaid for everything since no prices are listed and they know I’m a foreigner. I started going to supermarkets because the prices are labeled, however you’re right wet markets prices are better I just need to learn the actually prices and learn to negotiate!

    You should buy a motorcycle, it would save you travel cost and pay for itself. You're right, meats and sea foods are a bit expensive if you go for the imported meats in the supermarket, but the majority of people go for the local meats and produce in the local markets, much cheaper.

    • @quanthachjourney
      @quanthachjourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I just need to practice my negotiation skills because I automatically am charged 4x the actual market prices so I always am at a loss lol. I agree about the motorcycle, maybe I'll look into it once I get the courage to drive in these streets :P

      You’re very welcome Steve! As for jobs as an American I have not actually applied myself, but from what I’ve been told there’s always plenty of teaching jobs. Aside from that I’ve actually been approached to work for larger company’s to do marketing and other management positions as an English speaker to deal with international, but I’ve never took on any of the jobs so I honestly wouldn’t know. I honestly think it’s best to find a freelance job while in America and then continue to do those jobs here since there’s plenty of wi-fi. I’m not sure how you’d go about with business legality but there’s definitely lots of products here you can possibly sell to Americans. Good luck !

    The funny thing about sim cards in Cambodia is depending on how "good" the number is like how easy it is to remember and other superstitious factors, they can go up to tens of thousands of dollars haha while some are free. They just be giving those out for promo n shit

    im more interested in your story than your condo or your quartering. please do tell us why you are willing to leave america for cambodia and how you are dealing with it , psychologically. will you be coming back or living there as a perminent resident . Is there any regrets please do share, it's important or have you found happiness there or loneliness, at least at first. i know, i know, too many questions it's only because im thinking about plunging that dept. As for me im just trying to find my purpose in life and hope i can find it where im originated or at least the meaning of it. when do you think the monotony starts kicking in and haul ass back to america, after all it's a small country and provincial and if that don't get to you will the heat, the dust and stench shake off patriotic fervor and wake you to the realization that you had it so good and just didn't know it. many from around the world weather treacherous seas and land emigrating to america wth hopes and dreams for freedom and prosperity, forsaking country and patriotism for the primacy of individualism. But you what gives.

    Didn't see the hand held bidét "bum gun" by the toilet. They never installed one? Air conditioning.... I never use it when I'm living in Thailand or Cambodia. I only use fan and cross circulation between windows. I make sure to rent an apartment with north and south facing windows to avoid the sun blasting inside in the morning and afternoon.
    It only takes me about three weeks to acclimate to the tropical heat when I arrive in that part of the world....IF I don't use airconditioning. Use air conditioning and you never get used to the heat and you'll suffer every time you step outside.
    A bonus is... by not using air conditioning and TV .. your electic bill will be much much lower.

      Hi Robert, lol there was a bidet I just didn't go too detailed into the bathroom. You're absolutely right about finding an apartment thats facing away from the sun!! It makes all the difference in the world. Thanks for your input
