The Case-o-matic tractors had a torque converter with lockup; when it was unlocked you could drive it like a automatic transmission, stopping with it in gear just by holding the brake. When you needed it to hold its speed you would lock it up (had a lever to do this).

Again, interesting farm magazine, in Australia MF tractors, farm machinery were very popular because Sunshine factory in Victoria. Pa would demo combines on his farm, he had few but had IH tractors. When i work at piggery many years ago boss had old Fordson Major, poor old girl had water in oil but she just kept pulling hard with dead sows. Full respect for Fordson, nice tractor to drive. Never seen Case around here n only saw those old JD at tractor pull events, you see more Lanz Bulldogs.

I believe the massey Ferguson ad was showing the merger between them and massey Harris.
You may be right, it was around that time they merged.
J I Case spent millions developing and promoting Case-o-matic. It failed miserably in ag tractor sales, but dominated in construction.
That’s what I figured.
