I was just given the only VIP early access link to BUY the New Ice Barrel 500 before public launch. I was told I can share with a few friends. You’re my friends. 😊 HTTPS://dmjr.co/500 Make sure to use code “MAUS”
I’m in Florida will keep in a covered patty screened. I’m located in winter park. Would you recommend the 400 or 500? I am 6 foot 195. I pre ordered a chiller already. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hope you like this review! Sorry my voice is gone from talking so much this event. lol I am pretty stoked, just agreed to a partnership with Cowboy Colostrum, love for you to try it out (It is GOLD): dmjr.co/CC Use discount code "MAUS" for some savings, and let me know what you think on IG @dmausjr 🙂
I think so, need to do a few better tests as it’s getting hotter. There is more insulation and I see the chiller working less to keep the water at temp
Just ordered the IB500 yesterday. Used your code. Thanks for that. Recently I’ve been using a Rubbermaid 100 gl tub. Works great, but I’m excited for this new barrel.
I live just outside of Nashville, so I’ll def deal with heat and humidity. I’m going to try to get through the summer without adding a chiller. How long do you think 40 lbs of ice will last in the IB500? 3 to 4 days?
I am also using Rubbermaid 100 and want to order IB500. I wonder if IB500 can be left outside in 15-35F , that's what I did with Rubbermaid in North Jersey area this winter.
My IB500 hasn’t arrived yet, so I’m still using the Rubbermaid. Still works great. The coldest my Rubbermaid dealt with was 21* outside. It got down to -1, but I was on a work trip and missed it. The IB500 is insulated, so it’ll def keep the water cold, if it’s cold outside. And definitely a lot longer than the RM.
I really enjoy my 300. But it can be a bit tight. Im about your size David so watching you try these out really helps me judge what product is best for me. Excited for the 500. I wish i could try it before i bought it. Also excited for ice barrels chiller to release.
I’ve actually heard of it (you mean the 400 stool) but yes it’s possible. It will fill with water and become very heavy. Also not sure the need for the seat in the 400 the shape makes it very comfortable to squat in and lean into the side of the barrel
I think it’s an interesting design but missed the mark with the bench. They should make it collapsible or removable for easier dunking. People could stay upright on knees or a whole plethora of options. Still think I’ll stick with my 400 though.
which has more leg room; 300 vs 500? I had the 400 and just bought the 300. i'm only 5'8" and I'm already complaining about how I have to sit Indian style to get my legs to fit. of course I buy a "new" 300 and then they come out with a 500.
So much room in the 500, still has a seat in it so it takes up some of the potenital dunking room but its much larger than the 300. You sit like you would in a chair. I should have one this week or so and plan on a full, detailed review without water so you can see more inside.
Cool design. Not sure I see enough of an improvement to spend the extra money over the 300. I’m guessing it’s slightly deeper than the 300. Seems like the 300 is low enough I don’t need steps. Again, not sure I really see the benefits of this over the 300. Maybe do a comparison video of why a person would go with the 500 over the 300. Maybe just aesthetics? Idk. Thanks for the video.
Biggest difference is the depth. It fits people up to 7’ tall and comfortably. The 300 my shoulders come out of the water unless I cross my legs and slouch back. It’s bigger but similar
I feel like ice barrel keeps missing the mark, why don’t they release the original, chiller ready, and insulated? Not being able to submerge easily is a killer. I’m 6’3 and have the plunge. I hate having to lay down but chose it bc it was turn key package and allows for easy total submersion. I would 100% be on board for a deep barrel that was insulated with a chiller.
How are we both 6’1 but you can get your shoulders fully under and I cannot? I bought this because I thought we were the same height. I have to scoot forward on the bench and cram my knees into the wall.. seriously feel like this vid was misleading
A few tricks to it. 1. Maximize your fill line. 2. You either scoot forward and round your back or you can turn around and sit in the deep end. 3. When I go fully under I sit far back in the seat and bend forward. Sorry you feel that way, never want to mislead anyone. I Also wish there wasn’t a bench at all.
Its pretty tall! Should have one next week to do a full backyard review, I will go over everything a little better and without water inside so you can see it all
FWIW, I belong to numerous Cold Plunge groups, just wanted to mention that Ice Barrel is getting very poor reviews for customer service, so be aware. Do your homework. Considering the prices for basic plastic barrels, one insulated, two not, and a very pricey chiller with 90 day lead time and no published spec's, you would think they'd have EXCELLENT customer service. Just my unasked. 02.
Since you're such a fan of the Ice Barrel, thought you might reachout, see what the issue is. The excuse, "we're a small family company" doesn't cut it anymore. You really have hyped up Ice Barrel in the past, people are bitching up a storm on line. It's just not right to not respond to VM's, emails etc. Thanks. @@DavidMausJr
Honestly for it being insulated plastic these products are very much overpriced. Why does it have to be so expensive to be healthy. You wonder why America is fat! Make it easier and more affordable to be healthy!
How on earth is he sitting in this cold of water and able to function and talk. Every morning I lug 20-40 pounds of ice to do my ice bath and I cannot think, let alone speak. All I can do is focus on my breathing. I am not a novice by any means, however these guys make it look like the water is luke warm. I simply don't understand. Are they on drugs or something?
Haha it’s freaking tough! Put a camera on and try to talk, surprisingly you’ll be better at it than if you’re not filming yourself for a post. And the time goes by faster n

Just picked up the 500 and chiller. Used your code for barrel.

Awesome! In that case go with the 500 for sure! Will be easier to hook up your chiller and the insulation is incredible.@@mammmmmoth

Does this stay colder longer than the 300? And if so, how much better is it, or is the insulation basically the same?
I think so, need to do a few better tests as it’s getting hotter. There is more insulation and I see the chiller working less to keep the water at temp
do these ice barrels hold up if they are left outside in freezing temperatures up here in Canada?
Yes they were made for it

Once you get it nice a cold, i think that would do the trick for sure. @@jamesrios4564

Thanks for always giving us great and details content!
Sure thing! I love this!
Can’t wait to tryout the new 500! Thank you for such a thorough review
You are so welcome!
Wish they would make the 400 insulated
They have, Penguin makes an insulated cover. That plus a chiller, you're golden.
looks great! at $1500 a chiller should be included though.
Haha I wish!
Pumped for the 500!!
How often do we need to change the water?
So many variables. Can be every week, month or quarter. Depends on how well you take care of it.
I really enjoy my 300. But it can be a bit tight. Im about your size David so watching you try these out really helps me judge what product is best for me. Excited for the 500. I wish i could try it before i bought it. Also excited for ice barrels chiller to release.
Right on! Where do you live?
Southern part of NJ
Will they have a lid?
For sure. It’s shown in the video 🤙🏽
Does it sweat or is that just spillover?
No sweat. That’s spill over
Appreciate your videos David. 500 looks nice but I really like the 300.
Glad you like them!
Great review! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wondering if any one has ever used the 300 stool to sit on while taking a plunge? Fits?
I’ve actually heard of it (you mean the 400 stool) but yes it’s possible. It will fill with water and become very heavy. Also not sure the need for the seat in the 400 the shape makes it very comfortable to squat in and lean into the side of the barrel
ahhhh yes the 400 my bad. Newbie here...victim of cold plunge YT rabbit holes here. Great job boss! @@DavidMausJr

I agree, it would be better if the seat was removable.

I agree and wish the same! Maybe one day
on the ice barrel 400 my friend had put the staircase inside and it filled up with water now it's heavy and it doesn't move lol😂😂
Haha! Same thing happened to us during a storm!

Chiller just released, $2,500 and 90 day wait. Hard pass. So many better affordable options.
So many great options!
