I've never seen anyone take a call in the middle of a podcast, but I love it!

Genuinely laughed out loud more times to this episode than at some standup gigs.
Phone calls, shouting through to the missus, absolutely brilliant 😂
When everyone’s podcast performance is so well polished these days, this was genuinely refreshing.

Rory's phenomenal. I can't even put my finger on it, but I could listen for tens of hours of these. I mean **I already have** but I just want more. Would I do podcasting, my life goal would be to get Rory there even once 😂

Rory is a joy to listen to!
His question about how much reducing carbon emissions is in line with human well being is very insightful. I sometimes think the same about climate as a mass hysteria, its worrying that looking at how our institutions have been lately makes it very viable

The best thing you can do for the environment and your wallet is to make the appliance (car, heater, ac, etc) you have work for as long as possible because the energy it takes to mine, refine, manufacture and transport is decades worth of energy used for operation of the appliance.

Chris, I live in San Antonio, TX just 75 miles south of Austin. If you get the chance, you have to go to Luckenbach, TX. It’s one of the most “Texan” things you can do in the Hill Country. Great live music and the best environment that will make you feel as Texan as it gets. Be safe and have fun!
Oh, and I love your show! Been passing the word on to my mates here in the States.

Re the NZ Fisher and Paykel dishwasher … is that design not universal? I’m from NZ and the DishDrawer, as it’s called, has been around for decades, and I’d kind of just assumed that design had been available worldwide. My aunt’s got one. It’s great.

Ingenious individuals that solve one of mankind's many problems while aiming to solve one that may not be real is not the problem. It is politicians tendency to put their foot on the scales, penalizing some and rewarding others. The poor and voiceless are not the ones rewarded.

Electric cars maybe silent now but I've heard in the future you will be able to install something that makes whatever noise you choose, so as soon as the knob head boy racers start buying them it'll be back to noise pollution. Also car's making a noise isn't that safer? How many people will get knocked over because they don't hear anything and just step out without looking, just playing devils advocate here. Another top episode Chris, Rory is great always enjoy listening to him.
Hope America is going well mate. Think you got Tim Pool on the wrong day, thought he would have talked to you more about general things especially as you're the first brit on his show.

For Rory: What would be the reaction of tourist who bought tickets for a cruise trip, if when getting on board they’d listen from the speakers that the ship has been redesigned and now travels faster, thus arrives to destination in only 45 minutes…

The fear of needles point he made about anti vaxxing is 100% on point and ive never heard it spoken about before this.
I knew several ppl who were perfectly normal and became rabid anti vaxxers and without going into a huge amount of detail here it was definitely a fear or injections driving it. When they were legally required to have the vaccine they were so emotional but having had it they then reverted to normality.

I don’t think they gave Stewie a British accent because he might be gay. I think it’s because the English accent is seen as more eloquent or proper and Stewie is a genius so he has to be well spoken. Similar to how Dexter from Dexter’s lab has a Russian Accent (or whatever it is).

  • @wirebrush

This guy is quite entertaining, but I have doubts about some of his assertions. There's a good percentage of EV owners going back to ice cars. I'm not convinced of the utility of the adaptive cruise control either. It's just something else encouraging drivers to tune out of their driving and dicking around on their phones instead. I want a man portable EMP cannon to shut down the cars of these jackasses that pace the car beside them on the road regardless of speed because they're on their phones and can't bother to focus on a speedometer when they can rely on peripheral vision to pace the car next to them instead.

OMFG - Like, virtually zero people who have some kind of principled opposition to compulsory covid vaccines are afraid of needles. It's almost entirely a personal cost/benefit analysis, a conclusion that the dangers of covid and advantages of the vaccines have been blown way out of proportion in opposite directions, and knowledge that this it's a symbol of the cold war between two hostile tribal-ideological groups. He's smart, he could surely see this if he put his mind to it. Kinda frustrating because he does seem like a generally decent chap. Just one who's happy with... The end to bodily sovereignty and forced medical procedures. And as for that cringe Bill Bailey strawman... Reminds me why I loathe the smug self-congratulation of the English middle classes.

I’m a huge Rory Sutherland fan but was genuinely bewildered how he couldn’t see a sane point of view from ‘the other side’ on masks and vaccines.
