I am amazed by the amount of people who still think they have to defeat the boss before they can leave when they get trapped there…. There’s only one dungeon like that, every other trap is like you said- run outside and wonder why you are suddenly in hell.
Tip for the confusing cave(and other confusing areas in general): drop a prism stone(can't remember what they were renamed to in elden ring) in each room when you finish exploring and looting it. It's minor but it will help you track your progress
they are rainbow stones and they are absolutely essential for certain areas of this game if you want to try to complete yourself without watching a guide. especially places like the sewers of Lindell and shit those stones became invaluable

The merchant at 14:35 is actually incredibly useful if you are using a bow - he's your source of fire arrows. The arrows you can buy are generally better than the ones you can craft, AND you don't need to farm resources (besides runes; 120 per arrow seems like a lot at this stage of the game, but later on - or at this point with using one of the farming spots - it's really not that much)
Came here to say the same thing and you'd beat me to it, this guy can be essential for archer builds sometimes. Also buying poison darts to overload land squids was great too, they're not hard to craft normally but I'm lazy haha
@@ZE0ZEN plus those infinite poison stones! I didn’t know anyone had those for sale and you cannot craft them. Anyone know if there is a merchant who sells infinite of the LARGE exploding stones? You know, the ones that come in a big cluster? Or maybe the Large Glintstone Scrap?? I don’t know if any good sources for those and seeing this merchant with the infinite poison stones gives me hope

Don’t know if anyone already said this, but for those enemies that keep dodging by reading your input, just use delayed magic spells, the ones you never want to use because they take too long to get to your target. They will dodge when you cast them but then just stay put while the magic is slowly getting there.
The Flame of the Redmanes is a great detour before Carian Manor as it provides Fire affinity which will make fighting those weird hand enemies easy-peasy
Why did he say that it was great for faith builds? When I tried to use it on my faith character it took away the faith scaling and seems to make the weapon scale with strength.
@@kode-man23 there are two "fire" upgrades: Fire and Flame Art. The latter will make it scale with Faith. If you do not have that option... you'll have to find the right whetstone knife for it.

There’s a scarab hidden in a tree limb with an ash of war. It’s just south of Forsaken Ruins. There’s a small and large hill of the white and pink stuff the birds sit on. A tree limb connects the two hills and stand on one end of the tree limb and use an area attack. If it’s not powerful enough to kill it , it will drop to the ground and try to run away. Also , a lot of those hills the birds are on have something to collect.
The lever to open the gate in the castle: After getting the 10 mushrooms go back up , go to the right instead of jumping down and itll be directly above the gate on the wall Praise the Sun
If anyone is wondering where this is in the video: go to 13:17 in the video, and instead of running the direction he is running turn left, walk down the walkway toward where the gate is, and it should be at the end. It kind of blends in to the rubble from a distance, so it's easy to miss.
If you throw some crystal darts on one of the burial watchdogs you'll make them fight each other and you can sit down,watch them fighting and just kill the survivor who should have left a small ammount of health - crystal darts work in this way on all enemies made of stone,like Imps,Gargoyles,Burial Watchdogs,...ect.
There aren't a lot of caves like Gaol Cave, so the best thing you can do is to keep (Rainbow) prism stones on you. Once you come to a dead end or one that ends in a loop, drop a stone so you know that you've checked there.
I never had a problem with Gail cave as it's broken up into 2 parts the thing that took me the longest was finding the boss behind a crappy wooden plank. 😂
If you are a melee sword/board style player, do not let him trivialize the Dual Eldtree cat bosses. This took me over an hour and when I finally beat it I was out of potions and everything. Their jump neutralizes your shield. The magic one has a "magic impact" on his jump that blasts you back. Their fire hits everywhere (and while spinning, they can accelerate to super speed fire spins) and often you can't roll past them because of their size. It's tough to separate them because they are so mobile. They are hard, they are challenging, and you should feel good when you eventually take them down. I tried wolves to distract the melee one while I took on the caster, but they were dead before he was at half health. Tough fight! But hey, now I have a pumkinhead ash.
Another great video. I found it easy to get those invisible Scarabs with the Hoarfrost Stomp. For the life of me, I can never time it right until I used the Stomp.
These guides are really useful for me. I've played like 110 hours of the game so far, and there has been something I've missed in every single video you've made! I covered all of Caelid & Valcano Manor while actively avoiding the Altus Plateau + The Capital. Only when I saw you uploaded your other video about the capital did I realise I'd been putting it off too long lol
I'm way past all your guides areas but I love your videos and your positive attitude. I'm still watching these videos just to support your channel. Your videos are short and straight to the points. You could compile a series of all the talismans location by itself, weapons armors spells etc so people who hunt 1 category items can just watch that video. You could potentially generate more views. Just an idea.
Tip for new Arcane builds that want to use the Regalia of Eochaid: you can currently (v 1.03) get this sword by Skyriming up the cliff with Torrent. and since the sword is actually on a cliff in Limgrave, you can actually get this from the start of the game, giving your Arcane build a nice magic dmg option right away. Look up a vid of how exactly to hop up there, as it’s a bit screwy, but totally doable with some persistence. Edit: 14:18. Useless??? He’s the only one who sells infinite poison stones and he also has infinite fire arrows. I didn’t think there was a merchant with infinite poison stones… Now only if someone has infinite LARGE exploding stones (totally aware you can get the normal ones from the hold with the right bell). But any infinite throwing item is wonderful for pvp, those big poison stones will be super helpful!
Fort Gael North can be a good rune farm... draw in the demon dogs and have them chase you right up the middle where all the troops are... the dogs will engage the troops and take them out for you
I have been using flame of the red manes for abit now and its awesome! The damage is fine n all but where this ash of war shines is in its stagger. Just a few uses of this can stagger just about any boss which will allow for a critical hit. Used it against the rot dragon boss and only had to use the ash of war twice on him to stagger him.
It's like that for most bosses; 2 - 3 smacks of the Redmane and you have them on bended knee. Damage, while there are ways to buff and scale, is low - but that keeps it balanced. If this AoW cooked health like it cooked posture it would've been on the 1.03 patch kill list alongside Hoarforst Stomp.
7:50 Flame of the Redmanes destroys posture with facts and logic. Seriously though, everyone talks about blunt weapons against Crystalians - all you need is 2 pops of this AoW and you'll be smashing delicate glass. As a bonus, it also imbues your weapon with fire damage.
Thanks for producing and posting this guide. For anyone having trouble with the 2 Erdtree Burial Watchdogs, remember they can be confused similar to imps if hit with 3-4 Crystal Darts. Once discombobulated the Watchdog will attack its partner until one of them is dead, leaving only 1 to take out, and I don't mean for a dinner date. Also like imps they are weak to strike damage, being fairly resistant to slash, standard & pierce damage.
Definitely use Flame of the Redmanes, I don't know why but it does ridiculous poise damage, you can break Hoarah Loux's stance in 3 casts which are quick, have surprising range in a cone in front of you and deal really good damage especially since it's fire and can be easily buffed to deal double the original damage with talismans and incantations. In my opinion for PVE content it's easily in the top 3 best Ashes of War you can put on your weapon.
Hark, all ye Tarnished! But, yea, seriously, people are sleeping on Flame of the Redmanes, destroyer of posture. Works well in PVP too, good roll catcher and the stagger lines up a good follow-up jumping plunge attack. One world I'd invaded; this cooperator was sneaking up on me, getting his creep on although I could plainly see him (for some reason he must've thought I was playing in 1st person). Turned around and flamed his face, while he was writhing in indignation I swept him aside with a single stroke of the double greatsword and sent him back to his world. The host must've been stunned to suddenly find themselves short of jolly cooperation so soon after an invasion, the host didn't last long.
4:59 You can ride torrent in the boss room in case you didn't know. Should make that fight easier. 6:12 I've gotten to that area if you want to know how to get down that long drop with out wasting time.
So close to beating the game but don't want it to end. Your guides have made it that much more incredible to try an 100% the game. Keep up the great work ty😁😁😁
Flames of the Red mane Ash of war is clutch especially if you nabbed it early game. I don't know for certain but it feels like it does A LOT of poise damage in a very generous arc attack, and a little reach. It's helped me stagger so many bosses. It's also one of the quicker to activate Ashes with little to no wind up time which further adds to its utility
Also. the Regalia of Eochaid is based on an actual historical sword, the Sword of Gaojian, a 2500 year old Chinese Sword that was found in almost perfect condition. It's a decent non-bleed option for arcane builds. Lastly, the wakizashi is unique in that it is a dagger that can be used in the offhand to powerstance with a katana. Meaning if you want to be able to parry while dual weilding "katanas" you can, if you put the parry ash on it

If you're playing an astrologer and have rock sling and the meteorite staff the rot balcony is a great farming spot hust hit the crows they cant reach you and you can just trow rocks at them
that left wall trick i learned escaping corn mazes, and maybe it was your word choice, but if you follow one wall (left) you wont eventually have explored the whole dungeon, you will find the exit. There could be a near endless amount of things you miss following that strategy, but you wont get lost, and you will get out.
Flame of the Redmanes is OP now. Great for two-hander STR-ARC builds. If you're a caster and have Star Shower, you can cheese the Lion thing in Fort Gaol from the Rampart when you first climb up. The spell has enough range and the tracking beats it's dodging very well. Also, in Fort Gaol, the lever to open the gate is actually near the gate itself, inside the fort.
Honestly I got the lion with rock sling and did the area with two lions with rock sling too. Yeah yeah not inventive or whatever. Just saying it also works.
Another great video. I missed the Caelid catacombs and that crazy face shield which I am going for immediately. I can't believe I bossed Fort Gael with basically all melee. I am a Souls virgin lol. You should def try strength melee. I started with sorcery and have used that for most of the game but I'm having more fun with melee and incantations now. Thanks!

Flame of the redmanes is so good for my strength build. It knocks any enemy or boss down in 2 uses. Like every enemy, and it does great damage with good range and AOE. I just stance break everything and destroy bosses with massive damage
To cheese the wolf lion in fort Gaol move around were the ladder takes you to get the angle and spam the rock sling spell, make sure you have some blue flasks if you haven't added to your mind stat.

Ah he’s off again! I just finished Nokron and Nostella well scary… I think I’ve done most of Caelid but will see!! The first Erdtree Avatar I sat on a tree branch and shot with arrows 😂. Just finished watching and I completely missed a cave lol. Edit: Apart from the first Erdtree Avatar the next 3 or 4 I have been able to sit on a tree branch or hill and kill without taking a single hit.
Tip for the duo Erdtree Burial Watchdog fight. Load up on crystal darts and aggressively spam them on the Scepter watchdog. This will cause him to go berserk and if you keep your range, he will start attacking he other watchdog and massively deplete his health. Use this opportunity to spam both from range and then finish off whomever is left behind.
flame of the redmanes does serious stagger damage i used it on the boss before elden beast and it would stagger him in 2 or 3 shots i suggest using it on the misericorde dagger or whatever its called

The "hug the wall" trick only works for rooms on the inside or outside wall. You can still miss stuff on interior, disconnected rooms. BUT I've used that tip for a really long time!
I found this out myself but for anyone that doesn’t know if when on weapons or armor screen, on Xbox it’s x I think. Helmets most I have found have a special ability and same with weapons. If you look at description scene on equipment menu it tells you if weapon has a special ability. ones that don’t have a slot for an ash of war usually have some kind of special ability. Which is helpful if you want to see if it’s worth using. I think you can use ability even without full stats. But I wouldn’t recommend using without required attributes.

Flame of the Redmane is my favourite ashes of war! It consistently staggers bosses and enemies like nothing after two casts! I honestly sometimes use it over the sword of night and flame
@3:33 if you having problem take in about 10 or so crystal darts and tag the sword one with them until he get bubble and sparks next to his head at the start of the fight then watch them fight. you can finish off the winner.
Only thing I know of that has been missed is that you can jump off the side of the fort to grab a mushroom, pissed me off cus I worked hard to work out how to get to it lol. And then a lever to open the gate which no longer means anything because you've already got everything?? Great vid!
Quick tip on fighting the two watchdogs. Use crystal darts at one till you see somewhat of a bubble effect around its head and it will attack the other. They work specifically the same on the imps as well.
I've made a habit of consulting this series of videos after I've explored each area. I'm always amazed by how much I've missed. Always at least a few things.
I deaded myself so many goddamn times tryna jump down to that little cliff ledge at the back of the Duelist cave that exits in Limgrave. So happy to have finally gotten those fecking items. 🤣
I am in NG 5 (or 6?) and "Flame of the Redmanes" helped a shit ton of times. Its relatively fast, has a good range and you can stagger most mobs with it. It is my "go to" to stagger giants and strong poised mobs.
I just stumbled upon this guide and it’s the best Elden Ring exploration guide I’ve seen so far. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I missed the two ruins at the start of this video in Journey 1, because I was afraid to go near those creepy looking big birds 😅 and forgot about them later on. I also never went through the weird confusing dungeon with all the locked doors … and seeing it in your video … I am not sure I want to. 🤣 Love your content 🙏🏻
Fighting those 2 Cat Bosses, use a Crystal dagger on one of them. Shoot like 5-7until it gets Stun. It will make that one Fight the other one. Also works on those Stone Giants. If there’s one, it will Stun for heavy Attacks. Cheers 🥂
the wolf lion thing in the fort IS cheesable with magic like gravity stone and the homing missile spells its easier to use a summoned ash to have it fall down and distract it for bow shots as well.

At the dog camp with the coach at 6:55, you forgot to go North East from there toward the giant jar arena; at the edge of the cliff there's a chair there with a corpse; it has a Somber Smithing Stone [4] on it. If you come across some common soldiers you're going in the right direction.

I have finished the game 6 times now and I am on my 7th playthrough... My second playthrough was a pure mage build... yet I still have never actually used the moonveil... I have it on most characters.. but I just never cared for it:P
I beat that invisible scarab by having the fire tank follow me out there and juking around with it.. the tank actually killed it for me... I was never able to time it right to kill it myself.. but that tank sure came in handy.

I will say about the meteoric ore blade, it's been my main weapon since I got it. I don't use the weapon art often, but the weapon itself has some pretty good damage output on its own. So if you don't want to use any FP and stick up on HP flasks, I recommend the ore blade

the night sorcery is great too since it’s mostly invisible to enemies

I recommend getting the beast-repellent torch before really exploring caelid it makes life so much easier
great tip for dogs but remember it doesn't work for the birds

Their fire hits everywhere (and while spinning, they can accelerate to super speed fire spins) and often you can't roll past them because of their size. It's tough to separate them because they are so mobile. They are hard, they are challenging, and you should feel good when you eventually take them down. I tried wolves to distract the melee one while I took on the caster, but they were dead before he was at half health. Tough fight! But hey, now I have a pumkinhead ash.
Another great video. I found it easy to get those invisible Scarabs with the Hoarfrost Stomp. For the life of me, I can never time it right until I used the Stomp.

I'm way past all your guides areas but I love your videos and your positive attitude. I'm still watching these videos just to support your channel. Your videos are short and straight to the points. You could compile a series of all the talismans location by itself, weapons armors spells etc so people who hunt 1 category items can just watch that video. You could potentially generate more views. Just an idea.
Tip for new Arcane builds that want to use the Regalia of Eochaid: you can currently (v 1.03) get this sword by Skyriming up the cliff with Torrent. and since the sword is actually on a cliff in Limgrave, you can actually get this from the start of the game, giving your Arcane build a nice magic dmg option right away. Look up a vid of how exactly to hop up there, as it’s a bit screwy, but totally doable with some persistence.
Edit: 14:18. Useless??? He’s the only one who sells infinite poison stones and he also has infinite fire arrows. I didn’t think there was a merchant with infinite poison stones…
Now only if someone has infinite LARGE exploding stones (totally aware you can get the normal ones from the hold with the right bell). But any infinite throwing item is wonderful for pvp, those big poison stones will be super helpful!
Fort Gael North can be a good rune farm... draw in the demon dogs and have them chase you right up the middle where all the troops are... the dogs will engage the troops and take them out for you
I have been using flame of the red manes for abit now and its awesome!
The damage is fine n all but where this ash of war shines is in its stagger. Just a few uses of this can stagger just about any boss which will allow for a critical hit.
Used it against the rot dragon boss and only had to use the ash of war twice on him to stagger him.
It's like that for most bosses; 2 - 3 smacks of the Redmane and you have them on bended knee.
Damage, while there are ways to buff and scale, is low - but that keeps it balanced. If this AoW cooked health like it cooked posture it would've been on the 1.03 patch kill list alongside Hoarforst Stomp.
7:50 Flame of the Redmanes destroys posture with facts and logic. Seriously though, everyone talks about blunt weapons against Crystalians - all you need is 2 pops of this AoW and you'll be smashing delicate glass.
As a bonus, it also imbues your weapon with fire damage.
Thanks for producing and posting this guide. For anyone having trouble with the 2 Erdtree Burial Watchdogs, remember they can be confused similar to imps if hit with 3-4 Crystal Darts. Once discombobulated the Watchdog will attack its partner until one of them is dead, leaving only 1 to take out, and I don't mean for a dinner date. Also like imps they are weak to strike damage, being fairly resistant to slash, standard & pierce damage.
Definitely use Flame of the Redmanes, I don't know why but it does ridiculous poise damage, you can break Hoarah Loux's stance in 3 casts which are quick, have surprising range in a cone in front of you and deal really good damage especially since it's fire and can be easily buffed to deal double the original damage with talismans and incantations. In my opinion for PVE content it's easily in the top 3 best Ashes of War you can put on your weapon.

Works well in PVP too, good roll catcher and the stagger lines up a good follow-up jumping plunge attack.
One world I'd invaded; this cooperator was sneaking up on me, getting his creep on although I could plainly see him (for some reason he must've thought I was playing in 1st person). Turned around and flamed his face, while he was writhing in indignation I swept him aside with a single stroke of the double greatsword and sent him back to his world. The host must've been stunned to suddenly find themselves short of jolly cooperation so soon after an invasion, the host didn't last long.

Flames of the Red mane Ash of war is clutch especially if you nabbed it early game.
I don't know for certain but it feels like it does A LOT of poise damage in a very generous arc attack, and a little reach. It's helped me stagger so many bosses. It's also one of the quicker to activate Ashes with little to no wind up time which further adds to its utility
Also. the Regalia of Eochaid is based on an actual historical sword, the Sword of Gaojian, a 2500 year old Chinese Sword that was found in almost perfect condition. It's a decent non-bleed option for arcane builds.
Lastly, the wakizashi is unique in that it is a dagger that can be used in the offhand to powerstance with a katana. Meaning if you want to be able to parry while dual weilding "katanas" you can, if you put the parry ash on it

If you're playing an astrologer and have rock sling and the meteorite staff the rot balcony is a great farming spot hust hit the crows they cant reach you and you can just trow rocks at them
that left wall trick i learned escaping corn mazes, and maybe it was your word choice, but if you follow one wall (left) you wont eventually have explored the whole dungeon, you will find the exit. There could be a near endless amount of things you miss following that strategy, but you wont get lost, and you will get out.
Biggest thing I missed when I was in Caelid was the exit.
I was always so terrified of Caelid but having a friendly guide like this helps ease the fear and makes me believe I can get through it 💪 thank you ❤

Flame of the Redmanes is OP now. Great for two-hander STR-ARC builds.
If you're a caster and have Star Shower, you can cheese the Lion thing in Fort Gaol from the Rampart when you first climb up. The spell has enough range and the tracking beats it's dodging very well.
Also, in Fort Gaol, the lever to open the gate is actually near the gate itself, inside the fort.
If you're a melee build, the Ancestral Follower with a bow is also good, since his arrow fires so fast the lion can't dodge it.
Honestly I got the lion with rock sling and did the area with two lions with rock sling too. Yeah yeah not inventive or whatever. Just saying it also works.
Tip the carian phalanx spell or AOW will auto target invisible beattle
Another great video. I missed the Caelid catacombs and that crazy face shield which I am going for immediately. I can't believe I bossed Fort Gael with basically all melee. I am a Souls virgin lol. You should def try strength melee. I started with sorcery and have used that for most of the game but I'm having more fun with melee and incantations now. Thanks!
The gate to Fort Gael is opened by a lever that is on the very top of the wall directly above the gate. Definitely a weird spot for it.

Flame of the redmanes is so good for my strength build. It knocks any enemy or boss down in 2 uses. Like every enemy, and it does great damage with good range and AOE. I just stance break everything and destroy bosses with massive damage

To cheese the wolf lion in fort Gaol move around were the ladder takes you to get the angle and spam the rock sling spell, make sure you have some blue flasks if you haven't added to your mind stat.

Ah he’s off again! I just finished Nokron and Nostella well scary… I think I’ve done most of Caelid but will see!! The first Erdtree Avatar I sat on a tree branch and shot with arrows 😂.

Edit: Apart from the first Erdtree Avatar the next 3 or 4 I have been able to sit on a tree branch or hill and kill without taking a single hit.
Tip for the duo Erdtree Burial Watchdog fight. Load up on crystal darts and aggressively spam them on the Scepter watchdog. This will cause him to go berserk and if you keep your range, he will start attacking he other watchdog and massively deplete his health. Use this opportunity to spam both from range and then finish off whomever is left behind.
flame of the redmanes does serious stagger damage i used it on the boss before elden beast and it would stagger him in 2 or 3 shots i suggest using it on the misericorde dagger or whatever its called

The "hug the wall" trick only works for rooms on the inside or outside wall. You can still miss stuff on interior, disconnected rooms. BUT I've used that tip for a really long time!
I found this out myself but for anyone that doesn’t know if when on weapons or armor screen, on Xbox it’s x I think. Helmets most I have found have a special ability and same with weapons. If you look at description scene on equipment menu it tells you if weapon has a special ability. ones that don’t have a slot for an ash of war usually have some kind of special ability. Which is helpful if you want to see if it’s worth using. I think you can use ability even without full stats. But I wouldn’t recommend using without required attributes.

Flame of the Redmane is my favourite ashes of war! It consistently staggers bosses and enemies like nothing after two casts! I honestly sometimes use it over the sword of night and flame
@3:33 if you having problem take in about 10 or so crystal darts and tag the sword one with them until he get bubble and sparks next to his head at the start of the fight then watch them fight. you can finish off the winner.
The lever for Fort Gael is above the gate. Where you jumped down to get the 10 mushrooms, if you had gone towards the gate you would have run into it.
Only thing I know of that has been missed is that you can jump off the side of the fort to grab a mushroom, pissed me off cus I worked hard to work out how to get to it lol. And then a lever to open the gate which no longer means anything because you've already got everything?? Great vid!

Quick tip on fighting the two watchdogs. Use crystal darts at one till you see somewhat of a bubble effect around its head and it will attack the other. They work specifically the same on the imps as well.

I am in NG 5 (or 6?) and "Flame of the Redmanes" helped a shit ton of times. Its relatively fast, has a good range and you can stagger most mobs with it. It is my "go to" to stagger giants and strong poised mobs.
I just stumbled upon this guide and it’s the best Elden Ring exploration guide I’ve seen so far. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I missed the two ruins at the start of this video in Journey 1, because I was afraid to go near those creepy looking big birds 😅 and forgot about them later on. I also never went through the weird confusing dungeon with all the locked doors … and seeing it in your video … I am not sure I want to. 🤣 Love your content 🙏🏻
Fighting those 2 Cat Bosses, use a Crystal dagger on one of them. Shoot like 5-7until it gets Stun. It will make that one Fight the other one. Also works on those Stone Giants. If there’s one, it will Stun for heavy Attacks.

the wolf lion thing in the fort IS cheesable with magic like gravity stone and the homing missile spells its easier to use a summoned ash to have it fall down and distract it for bow shots as well.
This may be useful for the next video.. there's a hidden larval tear in the graveyard just west of the dragon cathedral. Kill one of the guys there and he'll transform to a giant

At the dog camp with the coach at 6:55, you forgot to go North East from there toward the giant jar arena; at the edge of the cliff there's a chair there with a corpse; it has a Somber Smithing Stone [4] on it. If you come across some common soldiers you're going in the right direction.

I have finished the game 6 times now and I am on my 7th playthrough... My second playthrough was a pure mage build... yet I still have never actually used the moonveil... I have it on most characters.. but I just never cared for it:P
At 13:35 as you jump go to left, the leaver for gate is there, than go grab 10 mushrooms
The way to open the main gate in the Keep is a lever on the same area the 10 mushrooms were on, just go left rather than right

I beat that invisible scarab by having the fire tank follow me out there and juking around with it.. the tank actually killed it for me... I was never able to time it right to kill it myself.. but that tank sure came in handy.

I will say about the meteoric ore blade, it's been my main weapon since I got it. I don't use the weapon art often, but the weapon itself has some pretty good damage output on its own. So if you don't want to use any FP and stick up on HP flasks, I recommend the ore blade
Moonveil is just so much better and has the same scaling
