      I thought it was great. This is obviously an epic tale about humanity's next stage in evolution. Whether it is the host or some human-host hybrid which will take us to a journey to the stars remains to be seen in this tale. But I do believe the Nolans went out of their way to present the Wild West as an ultimate Proving Ground for that which ventures forth. The World as we know it has been turned into WESTWORLD. But you only get one life this time around.

      I enjoyed the finale and would have to say I preferred this season to season 2 on the whole, especially how Delores Prime realized that for how awful humans can be, they're also capable of good and, just like hosts, deserve to have a choice about how their future plays out. A change of heart and self-sacrifice I thought reflective of Dr. Ford in season 1. The aspect I believe they did clearly bungle was Maeve, changing 180 degrees from being so intelligent and clever, to sticking with helping Serac when it seemed obvious he would just erase the host data, including her daughter, stored on the satellite. The aspect I am quite confused by is why Serac/Rehoboam would consider the guest data on the satellite as still being of vital importance when the world order is rapidly crumbling. It seemed clear he had no interest in making use of host technology once he took control of Delos, so how might that be so useful beyond having a bit more knowledge? (Some of which, perhaps in large part, was already being shared with Rehoboam)

And if need be he could be probably be able to build them just like he did with Dolores. Maybe he’ll need to do this to fight against Charlotte(Dolores) and her army. very disappointed in this season and how they dispatched the man in black. He just stood there with a desert eagle not shooting evil Char-Loeres in the face, after just shooting his way in, WTF? did he not make it clear he was trying to kill all hosts!? i guess I will just stand here and let my own copy casually walk up and beat the shit out of me, it's like he forgot he was fist fighting a robot? this show has turned into a knock off of blade Runner, i miss Westworld storylines. many people gave up after season 2, I choose to give up after season 3.

      Funny thing is he gets his wish cause charlotte puts him into the game that happens season 1 n 2 man in black that story is his story that he keeps running cause charlotte wanted to punish him or oversee westworld or wherever bernard went to thats what i think season 2 happened after season 3 and ford is guarding the valley beyond a d so is bernard but charlotte wants the data but she cant get to it cause bernard os offline and went into westworld or the sublime which is a looped game and thats wby charlotte seems to knkw everything in her season 2 ... Funny she fucks hector tpp then seems all the hosts or host that bernard and or man in black go with are copies of delores lawrence and then shogun world... Its all a game and charlotte cant get to fidelity for man in black or other human hosts cause tbey need the data but never get tp it cause bernard traps himself in the sim of sublime which i think is westworld she recreated it and its a loop to try to figure out and she just cant get the data...

    This season felt like the ‘safe’ narrative to get WW to the next HBO extension... If the writers come back strong in season 4 they can make this one worth it in retrospect. Feels like it could become West World’s Age of Ultron-kinda sucks on first reception but might have created just enough heart to fuel greater narrative highs in the future.

    Great recap as always! Yes this was a lesser season than 1 & 2 but still entertaining. Curious as to why you leave the door open for Serac to be alive though he was bleeding out but not the same for the Man in Black? We didn't see either of them actually die...

    • @PetePeppers1
      @PetePeppers1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To me the Man in Black scene played like Charlores' plan was to wait for him to arrive so she could kill him and replace him. In order for him to live she would have to save him, and that doesn't make a lot of sense. Serac was injured and probably dying, but Maeve and Caleb just left him there.

    I will admit.. Due to GoT, I never gave Westworld much thought until I kept seeing the Previews for S3, and thought, "Lemme check this out and see what I'm missing".. Thus far, I have not been disappointed at the depth of the story.. I never watched either of the original movies, and it was REALLY fun to watch something I hadn't seen before... Robots gaining sentience, theme park slaughter vacations, and Evan Rachel Wood, whom I've heard about, but never seen her in anything.. For me, there isn't any one big part of any episode in S3 that didn't hit, and it took the finale to fully explain why Dolores chose Caleb, who Caleb was, and what he was really all about... It's all still building to something bigger at this point and i'm vested for as long as many seasons as they wanna do... They've sold me on the series...

      Acsitram - ok from memory - why Musashi would be picked by Dolores as a copy when she never knew anything of his relationship with Maeve and really, given she never knew Maeve would be out the park, what purpose at all Musashi’s body served in the real world. How Clementine came back without any back up. Why Maeve would request Hanaryo to for backup and not actual MUSASHI ..or even Armistice - both of whom she was much closer to. Why Rehoboam was wiped at the end and there isn’t even a backup?!! Why Solomon would still be running AT ALL? Why Serac, who shoots people in the head, would give a shit about freezing outliers to fix later. Why there is any use for William’s character whatsoever? Why Charlores, who was shown as a more caring motherly character than Dolores would want a different plan to Dolores...when they are both Dolores and only haven’t been for 3 months. Why Charlores grew to love her Charlotte’s family so fast in 3 months....is this enough for now?

    • @dasturschloss8679
      @dasturschloss8679 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sctmcg They both started from the same point, but they experienced different things. They're not alike anymore, hence they want different things. Every host was created from Dolores, they're still not all Dolores anymore. Different experiences forge different characters.
      And for Serac: We don't know whether he gave a shit or not, but it doesn't even matter since he never did anything from himself anyway. He did not freeze the outliers, Rehoboam did, same as Rehoboam shot the people in the head, not Serac. He was only the mindless executioner of Rehoboams commands. I don't know whether I like this twist in the end or not, it turned an awesome villian to be a stupid and pathetic brat.
      Dolores not knowing anything about Maeves and Musashis relationship? She had access to every data of the park and later to Rehoboams archive. She knew everything.
      My theory about William: I don't think there's any use for him at all. He's not important to what's happening. It's just a side story about his character, a character study so to say. He was the mcguffin for Dolores and people liked him, so they kept the character.
      The other questions: Well, plot convenience probably. They're irrelevant nut picking mostly anyway, don't over analyse it.
      Except for Solomon still being active. That really didn't make any sense. You would shutdown the shizophrenic AI as soon as an upgrade is online, especially a very resource hungry and expensive giant ball one. The scene was cool nonetheless.

    I still feel like this is setting up The Matrix or its' own version.
    Cha-lores is seemingly going darker than Delores and she might end up representing the machines that just want to destroy all humans. The Sublime is appearing more like it could be a secret copy or continuation of our world, perhaps there is a larger creation going on within it or it could really be a representation of heaven/paradise for those who were uploaded or anyone who can visit.
    The real world is definitely gonna be fucked up for awhile, who knows if the entire battle shifts towards 'Humans VS Machines'.. I kinda like the lighter twist on Westworld being an alternate version like 'Human AND Machine (Free will) VS Control and Power (Determinism)'
    Loved the similar psychological tie-in to Fight Club and how there is a difference in wanting to change/save the world and people by destroying it and rebuilding it _without_ seeking to purely annihilate people themselves.

    Was there a scene in any season that explained the effect of alcohol on Hosts? I’m just wondering if “drinking cheap booze” is going to numb any of the sensations of “literally [rotting]”? I suppose it would make sense from a story point of view for Ford & Arnold to make them affected by alcohol so a player could use alcohol to perhaps get the upper hand against a Host foe. Maybe. I really didn’t like having familiar human characters replaced as hosts so it makes less sense to me to kill off William. A good portion of the hosts we did see were just copies of Delores. It also rendered Williams arc this season pointless. He’s on the side of humans now and an anti-hero, opps, not you’re dead now. I hope he’s alive to face the worst parts of himself in his host.

    There are no guarantees that Clementine and Hanaryo took the Musashi-lores pearl to *CHARRED* lores. They were working for Maeve, not *CHARRED* lores, but I could definitely see an argument for the idea the pearl was returned to *CHARRED* lores.
    I think in the end, what we may see in season 4 is that Maeve, Clementine and Hanaryo will all fight alongside Caleb and the humans against *CHARRED* lores, the Host in Black, and a legion of other hosts under *CHARRED* lores' control. The events of season 4, I believe, will happen prior to the point in time of post credit scene of Bernard waking up in the motel room and the point in time of William going into the Forge and encountering his daughter. In fact, I'd bet money Bernard is responsible for creating the post-apocalyptic version of William, and that *CHARRED* lores is the one responsible for the apocalyptic conditions hinted at in the post credit scenes of William and Bernard.

    Season 3 was a transitional season, with huge changes going on in the scenario, characters, protagonists, antagonists, etc, so it's understable that people didn't like it as much as the previous ones. But the big problem with transitional seasons is when the gap between season is so damn long. The 2 years gap originally scheduled was already too long, the extra year added by the pandemic will kill it, and I think they will have to end it in season 4.

  • @SunnyGabe
    @SunnyGabe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not sure that's actually Bernard at the post credits... He looks different and I'd say he's actually Arnold; the one that needed certain events to unfold so as for him not commiting suicide...
    As for Hale, it would seem that she did in fact succeeded in retrieving data from the immortal Delo's experiment... Not sure if all of Dellores copies knew, but Delores Hale certainly did since she did successfully made a MIB replica... It's been concluded previously that MIB would actually kill himself with little remorse, so goodbye humanity...
    As for Serac's part, he's brother has most likely awoken and he's the one that would play a huge part! He's actually the real genius, and I don't think he was in an inert coma state this whole time; actually I'd say he was busy dreaming a new plan, a new ideea...
    Bernard/ Arnold couldn't have had energy storage for decades; what going on here? Hosts need power to continue functioning, and he wasn't plugged into anything... I would've said that, at most Arnold's rebirth took a few weeks, given he's grown beard, and that time span wouldn't interfere with the autonomy of energy hosts have, since he remained motionless this whole time...
    As for season 4, all events indicate a stallmate; no winners in season 3...

The first half of the episode was quite annoying but it really got better starting with the Bernarnold - Lauren scene.
    I love that they used elements of optimism and existentialism instead of pessimistic predeterminism, it shows growth on both Dolores and the show as a whole.
    I love how the quotes ('I choose to see the beauty', 'a new world') we've kept hearing (that were overused in S2) finally paid off.
