Ray C, Otonashi in the comments bellow describes perfectly why this kit is at least a silver tear. Granted this kit has obvious retooling but that in no way inhibits this kit from being a top tear kit considering that it’s based on a 9 year old kit that to this day is still phenomenal

Age 2 Magnum what next MOTHERFING AGE 3 MAGNUM
When the Age-1 Normal was released, it was a revolutionary kit. It had what was considered perfect articulation for an HG while not suffering from the lack of color separation that marred the equally articulate and revolutionary HG 00 Gundam. Though you say it's basic, it's overall more articulate and solid than the newer HG IBO gundam frames that you praised at the time. If we want to talk even newer HGs, the Age-1 has better articulation than the HGUC Mudrock; it has about the same range in most joints but more in the shoulders, waist, and ankles.
Heck, the HG Age-1 had straight up better articulation than the earlier HG revive kits by virtue of having better ankles and the same articulation everywhere else. The Age-1 Normal is essentially the template for modern HGs. The major improvement Bandai has made in the past decade is that they redesigned the joints with a softer polystyrene to reduce the polycap count and reduce wear and tear on the joints, but the joint structure is basically the same.
HG IBO frames are shit. You can't pose them in squat or kneeled down. The legs, the hips, were shit. I had my Barbatos Lupus, Dantalion and Vidar. They're so weak and armor don't stay on. My Age-1 Normal was way way better. HG IBO can't even be on par with RX-78-2 HG Revive. It's so bad and boring.
@OriginalDrDeLeon They're generally okay at first , but the joints degrade significantly, more so than most modern kits I've dealt with. I never really posed my HG Gusion Rebake, Hekija, or Shiden after building them and the joints are all loose despite sitting in the box. Even out of the box, the gundam frame's waist/chest connection is hit or miss despite being the same parts. I just find IBO kits to have iffy quality control, which is a shame since some of the kits have some unique design elements.
I personally have had issues with the full mechanics line worse than Age. I had to basically tighten up all the Gundam frames. I basically had to turn the Lupus Rex into a Fix Figuration. I just have it posed on my shelf with Metal Build being the more practical option. Right now, my Age 1 HG and the Adele are still working perfectly fine. For me, I feel like I like the IBO kits more but I do too much customizing. I ended up turning one of my Rex into a Battle Damaged version and that's holding up. Even the Perfect Strike is holding up better. I feel like Akihiro would be mad because his Gusion Rebake is only holding up by the battle damaged one being next to Rex. Lupus and regular are holding up, but Full Mechanics and HI Res are not. For me the Barbatos are the most stable. The Vidar and Kimaris Vidar along with Gusion are just completely shot to shit and the Gusion is a hand grenade at this point. Meanwhile most of my Age stuff has Aged great. Except the Clanche, that thing was a hand grenade when I got it. I think what happened was the original Gundam frame worked. The problem is that they made too many reprints and mistakes in molding later. My Barbatos is from a much earlier print and it's just fine. The issue is that the frame while better designed had less quality control. I think that was also why Full Mechanics had admittedly worse issues. It was a frame that was already worn out, except upscaled. Hi Res used the same thing as Full Mechanics, but that frame was not made for that. As they got into later prints everything was falling apart and the Hi Res had way more issues. It couldn't be taken apart, and thus any issues with the frame couldn't be sorted out. The die-cast parts are the only thing that saves it from being a really bad paperweight, and that can only fix so much.
@@Zeromaru42 agreed with the reprint issues. My friend's HG Kimaris was so great. I can throw it to the wall and it's holding up. But mine fall off just by touching. You're only lucky with HG IBO if you manage to score the early prints release.
@@BentangAlam MG Barbatos is still kickass though, but I just want a Lupus Rex that holds up without clear coat. A Lupus would be kickass too. I think Age was definitely better designed though. That was probably why they got rid of the frame after IBO ended. Was definitely a good thing, but I'd prefer a type of Cross Silhouette frame if they do it again.

@@chlemer0 what's wrong with vanguard? You do know the creator of vanguard helped takahashi with the yu-gi-oh manga when it became a hit and was the creator for the yu-gi-oh R side story manga right?
I have absolutely no idea why most of the peeps hate Gundam AGE and made it underrated as hell. To me, the model designs was pretty impressive overall, I pretty much liked it.
I really liked age as well and the Genoace custom was my favorite grunt HG for a long time. The kits were fantastic back in 2011, just not so hot compared to the level of kits right now.
I enjoyed the series but what did it for most people was horrid dubbing, alot of my friends prefer to watch on dub personally idc either way I love sub and if the dub is good I'll watch it to view sentencing differences and scene differences.

Nah maybe AGE sucked cuz they get kids below 14 to pilot the Gundam, I liked Asemu arc the most mainly because he registered as a proper pilot and trains instead of getting carried by Newtype (X Rounder) abilities

I have some age kit that I put to storage coz of the ploycap became brittle and crack even super won't help it kinda sad it a good kits
@Black Chandelier Mirage I cant really say all AGE kits as the UE/Vagan Kits have mediocre articulation and balance. Good designs though.
Age kits are basically Revive quality, good stuff!
If you keep your old extra polycaps you can always replace the bad ones.

Random Update: Found it with some of my other Gundams, lost the eye stickers and front facepiece (thanks young me) but other than that it's mostly intact
underwhelmed noises.
Try holder frame has another function. When you play Try-Age, you can see Try Age summoning weapons/powers of other gundams with cards. The enlarged cards pop out from the try holder frame. The kit featured here also has space in try age holder that lets it hold Try Age game card on it like in the game.
The only reasons I want this kit, the sword, cape, and funnels, lol

With beam tonfas you trade wrist articulation and a good deal of movement range with a melee weapon in exchange for quick use and (usually) more power direct from the generator. It's often down to preference in MS design.

@@rockblockstudio Oh, I just researched about it. It's from a card-based real-time strategy arcade game called Mobile Suit Gundam: Try Age. Gundam Try Age is the base kit of Gundam Try Age Magnum, technically.
I feel like the affect parts is what makes the kit worth it. They look pretty damn good on the kit
Seeing TryAGE Magnum's vigorous great sword, this makes me worried about Aegis Knight's King Mode Sword. Hope Bandai manages to make it's wrists more stable to hold it when we post the HG Aegis Knight in it's epic King BEAST mode pose when it comes out.
The Gundam age 1 was and still is one of my favorite kits. I’m so hyped to get this kit.
The Age ! was a great Kit and head of tits time it can still got toe to toe with kits made in 2020. I don't get the bronze tier rating.

tbh i was very confused why kyoya became a yu gi oh fan on the final episode of gundam build divers re rise, This explains a lot
that cape reminds me of star build strike when it goes plavsky wing mode, it forms a blue cape before turning into wings
I cannot wait to see this in action! This has to appear in the next episode, it just has too!
Love the design! Might even get it, thought if I get it I probably won't use the sword with it and will mostly just use the cape, especially since the sword doesn't hold well.
I could see people buying this just for the Effect Parts and the Sword/Defense Unit.
I hope Bandai would release an option set for the backpack and tri bird. I'm gonna attach them to my custom Astaroth Origin. (I'll use the backpack as an extendable claw arm mounted weapon)

Imagine if the TRYAGE Magnum had it's own theme based off of the Yugioh stuff.
All the harping on how aged the kit feels is weird to me because the actual HG AGE-1 kit is one of my favourites in terms of solidness, articulation, colour separation and general out-of-box presentation. Looks like its the new parts or parts from the AGE-2 or AGE-3 that let it down which is a shame.

Reason I would get this gunpla: his weapons. I’m planning to steal them, except the beam sabers effect parts, to be given to age 2 magnum (specifically SV) =v=
Weird how this one has stickers for the yellow parts on the back skirt, when the normal Age 1 had actual part separation

Lots of fans may think AGE is not a good show but you have to admit, most of their model kits are pretty good and can still hold up to this day
the reason the age 1 titus is advertized is that in the anime, he uses the card to summon a giant fist from the Titus to defeat one of alus' airships.
The arms of the Age 2 Magnum are compatible with the TAMagnum. Even with the TAM's wrist guards. For me I swapped the arms and head, and now my TAMagnum is perfect. No loose hands issues. If you like, you could even swap out the entire lower body. Fun times.
To be honest they could have given that sword effect parts to the Aegis Knight as well to make that battle scene on episode 22?!?! Just my opinion...
I feel like that's the best reason to get this suit. After that episode I felt Aegis Knight needed better effect parts, and here we have effect parts that would suit it perfectly. Heck, I feel like the sword would go better with Knight than this kit.
@@variablelight Yeah I think you are right. The effect part might look better on Aegis Knight and it makes more sense since we already know what it is capable of doing. Really tempted to get this just to put that effect part on Aegis Knight now haha
Wrist beam saber reminds me of Protoss warriors in SC series. My life for Avalon! We are the blades of Avalon! Kujo seems to have played full campaign of Legacy of Voids.

Idk which colour scheme i like better, the tryage, or the magnum. I love the magnum's blue effect parts, but i find the red effect parts of the tryage contrast the colours way better.
If the tri-age magnum will show up in re rise or any old build divers, that will look cool. Also I think the white variant of the 00 sky MIGHT be also showing in re rise but IDK
The old Gundam Age-1 Normal is still a damn good build. Solid kit.
SOS!! Is there a way that I can essentially “reset” my builds? I.e. taking the decals off and rinsing it in soapy water? Would that work?
I usually put the polycap on the wrist the wrong way, that helped with most of my Age Kits.
I hope they release the sword as a seperate weapon kit like the revise weapons cuz I can imagine the customizations that can be done with multiple sword/capes

It's a little ironic that next week they are going to feature this on Gundam Build Diver Re-Rise next week.
I would like to take the beam sabers wrists, the Try-birds, the try-Cape/sword, and some other parts and and them to a different kit. So I think it one of those kits that people want to customize.
Myself personally I prefer the age 2 magnum sv it’s got a thinner and more aggressive design. But the one I personally put together I unintentionally painted in a dark hound color scheme without any gold
1:58 I mean the arms and legs are mostly what changes when the AGE suits swap parts soo... 3:50 Magnum's wearing heels. 7:52 Yeah but then there is the possible issue of maintenance so something like the Unicorn's forearm tonfa or GM Sniper Custom's box saber where they can be deployed as is or in hand makes sense to me rather than being fully integrated.

With the new episode of Build divers rearise coming out next week and the original build divers being in the episode I wonder if they have new mobile suits also.

Did you notice the leftover yellow skirt pieces on the old Age-1 A-runner? They have the exact same sculpt as the yellow section on the Tryage back skirts, but Bandai opted to mold the whole thing in purple for some reason. The ankles of the Age-1 Normal have better range than the new ankles, as do the knees.
Besides the wrists (which were adequate for the original accessories), your problems with this kit are really not because of the base kit. The parts you complained about are mostly new.

AGE-1 was great kit for its time in my opinion.
When you see the preview image from afar and think it's build divers ep 0, then you see it's a model kit of age 2 M... it's actually try age. No joke tho... I actually thought someone posed the kit like the suit was in the preview for the anime episode

13:59 i think some people forgot to pull the torso up a little bit so it have some room to rotate the joint, and FFS, don't bend the torso like that before pulling up the torso, you will break the peg inside of polycap. (i'm talking from experience)

I'm not a fan of Gundam Age series, but I think this one deserves a MG 1/100 version. It looks cool
Old, but I think I have a fix for the hands I used regular glue on empty sockets spaces on a GM II it kinda worked for a while, but my constant moving of the hands pilled the glue layers off, so I used 2 step putty to fill in the gaps.
Imagine if the Cloak and Sword are just used to further emphasise that Kyouya is just a great big Fate/Zero reference.
I would suggest simply flipping the polycap for the wrist around so that the polycap socket will be pressed against a flat wall instead of the tiny nub for what I could only guess be for a better stronger grip on the wrist ball joint.

@@MasterSwo I tried it out, and it might help a little bit, but at the point where I tried it the polycap was already a bit worn down so I couldn't really tell too much of a difference between the intended way and the mod I suggested
For some reason I didn’t think it wouldn’t be in the anime, but it was shown in the 24th episode preview... now I’m more interested in it
But I wished it transformed like the Age II Magnum
I hope bandai release the accessories of this kit as a separate release like they did with the Injustice Weapons and the Zeonic Sword

I honestly don't understand why they used stickers for the back skirt. They ALREADY had parts for the yellow skirt armor from the original kit.
Could you in theory put something in the wrist to secure the hands? I hesitate to suggest it but blue tack for example?
