Hello there; I love your work! What a cool idea. Is the pot leathery hard? Are the bottles filled with different colored slip? What did you add to the red colored one? The first bottle is filled with a thicker solution and the second thinner and the third thinner still? I think your work is beautiful!
You will find a broom bristle(get one from your studio broom)works better to drag the feather line along.your needle works ok,but there's more drag with a bristle ,or indeed a real feather stripped to leave only the end feathered bit, like a writing quill, using the other end..you get a longer drag ,less scratch.
Beautiful. I saw similar Ukrainian decoration on a bowl; but I liked how you used the needle tool to jazz things up. Wonderful! PS: if someone wants to see the TH-cam Ukrainian video just search on: Flendrivka-rareUkrainian pottery decoration style
I love it! I have never seen anything like this before! Is the pot newly thrown or is it leatherhard? What do you have in the bottles? Coloured slip? Is the first "slip" thicker than the next etc? Or is it just the thickness of the spout of your different bottles that makes the "lines" look thinner? Thank you so much for sharing!
Wow! That feathering! Never seen it done on the vertical. I wonder what that will look like pushed out with a throwing stick...bwah, hah, hah, hah, he said.
Well, looks like it's gonna be the sincerest form of flattery tonight at LaMano pottery in NYC! Love this!
Would love to see this after it's been fired!
Wow wonderful vid! I am going to have to try this!
It would be good to show the finished product at the end. So that we can appreciate more
matt, thank you must add your pots to my collection.

Like magic.
But what does it look like after firing?

No finish fired pic?
i was watching a nirvana video, them a guy in the commentaries told me to watch a video called spider crabs vs stingray.
Ugh - wish you would have shown the end product after firing!
Can someone tell me who the music is by?
The first song is "Late Winter Early Spring" by John Denver....
Here is a similar piece feathered.... Google Bauman and Pardon Me, But Your Slip Is Showing. There is a piece that he did this way on his blog.
I think you need a bigger bottle...
