I love this effect. I use my lemon zester for different effects ... mostly to give a woodsy look. It looks like it gets a little more difficult as you start getting towards the bottom. A very well done piece . Thank you for your video!!
I'm so excited, I'm going to be able to work on the wheel and try to make something I hope will look like two matching mugs eventually, my Instructor makes everything he shows us look so easy to do...as they all did on these videos.
its not always all about "faster, true! but what is wrong with working smarter? i made a 1000 mugs one summer month, the first week i made 90 mugs. the last day i made i made 90 mugs with trimmed feet and a handles. the brain is an economic machine, if one let it work - it will automaticly bypass waisted motion, and will develope what is know as skill.
F. j. Acuna Sure, you can do that. It's a different look, though. Not a worse look or a better look, but not the same. It's good to have different methods of mark-making in one's repertoire. Skill is vital, as is craft.

I really want to reach out and get the little thingies off the scraper! Beautiful job!
none of the comments said what i was thinking: this is so satisfying
All that patience pays off! Great woven effect.
Everyone is commenting on the effect only... but dang! that bowl looked amazing before you even carved it!

That’s a great bowl shape.
ALWAYS WONDERED HOW THEY MADE THE WEAVE LOOK...NOW I KNOW! BEAUTIFUL!! :)
A great use for a zester that never worked well for its intended use in the first place. Bravo!
Lovely effect, would like to see the finished glazes piece.
Well...thats just plain brilliant.
Awesome.....just awesome!
Lovely. It is almost meditative watching this. I suppose it must be that way doing it too.
I've watched a couple of your videos. Sure would be WONDERFUL to see the end product.
@potterybyjohn Yes, it is a citrus zester.
What's the music? It's soooo peaceful! ahh
love it.
just wondering how you determine that when you start your first row you are not going to land up with a too large or too small final scoring?
I used to draw those little lines as doodles.
beautiful!!!!!!
Very nice - and a very nice form to begin with! What on earth is that tool called? I've never seen one like that.
nice i liked it
Thanks
Wow!
Unless I miss my guess, you are using a zester; a kitchen tool....correct?
I'm guessing that is you playing a guitar that we hear in the background ? Do you have a CD available ? Or at least the name of the CD ?
+Bob McGrath I shazamed it, its She's Leaving Home by Adam Rafferty
Song please!!
Anybody know the name of that carving tool?
wait until he finds out about crimpers....
Onde encontro estas ferramentas?
nice...
Very nice but I think it would be better with only 1/3 getting the pattern, too much of a good thing
what tool is being used?
It is a lemon zester. You can get one from any kitchen store or a thrift shop possiblr.
you can get an app for this tile pattern at the app store, or just carve this pattern on a wooden or clay wheel and lay it on faster!
