  • In October, 1959, more than 50 years ago, Alpha Industries began its operations making military clothing in the basement of a rented Knoxville, Tennessee factory using leased sewing machines and only a few employees. The first few years were very difficult for newly formed Alpha because it was a time of peace and the U.S. Defense Department purchased only small quantities of military clothing. However, the outstanding quality of Alpha’s clothing quickly came to the Defense Department’s attention and as America’s need for military clothing increased as the Vietnam conflict deepened, Alpha’s growth as a manufacturer for the Defense Department rapidly accelerated.
Alpha specialized in manufacturing many types of jackets and pants for U.S. military forces. As the years went by America’s Defense Forces came to rely more and more on Alpha’s expertise to produce U.S. Air Force and Naval Aviation flight jackets, Army and Marine Corps field jackets and a host of military pants and other clothing. During this time Alpha manufactured over 40 million garments for the U.S. military ranging from simple hoods to complicated cold weather Gore-Tex parkas.
Although Alpha made many different types of clothing the company became most associated with several jackets that became classics of American fashion. Two of these jackets--- the MA-1 flight jacket and the M-65 field jacket-- were almost exclusively made by Alpha for the military and Alpha was instrumental in working with the U.S. military designers to improve their performance and design. Subsequently when these garments migrated from their military roots into globally popular casual or street wear styles Alpha, as the authentic producer of the MA-1 and M-65 for the military, also became famous in the public’s mind for these styles.
In keeping with the Alpha Industries concept "tried, tested, proven"
Alpha Industries has remained true to its history by continuing to produce authentic military garments. Nevertheless, Alpha Industries fulfils the expectations of its global customer base by continually developing casual clothing that interprets its military heritage into products that people want to wear because of their unsurpassed performance characteristics, design and quality.

I really like when fashion brands shoot videos like this for markets where they are relatively unknown. Its important for a consumer to understand what the brand is and what it stands for. This made me buy one instantly. Good Work!

Alpha Industries is not very popular up here in Canada, I've seen maybe one other person wearing the jacket. I kind of like that, since it still has a element of uniqueness whereas there are not a dime a dozen other people wearing the jacket you are...you stand out. Unless they catch on....

I bought a MA-1 at the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Museum. I had it for 10 years. Unfortunately during one of our moves, it was lost. Still miss that jacket! It was awesome! Nothing beats an Alpha!

I'm a 64 year old male and I owned a lot of flight jackets in my day Rothco ... and they just don't measure up to Alpha Industries in fact I just purchased 3 cwu-45p flight jackets green black and replica blue at $160 each and in my opinion they are of the highest quality in Flight jackets and Military apparel that I have ever seen one one of my jackets has Marine Corps emblems on it the green one and I'm always getting compliments on how it looks on me after all I'm a 64 year old Marine Corps veteran... Lead the Way Alpha Industries ... YOU HAVE POINT ! ( UP FRONT..LEADING THE WAY.!! ) SEMPER FI ( ALWAYS FAITHFUL]

I bought an Alpha Industries M65 and was sad to see that it was made in China. I know that there are some made in the USA but I have no idea where to locate one. Don't get me wrong, I really like my M65 by Alpha but I would have liked it even more if it was made in the USA. My next M65 will be the made in USA "Cockpit USA M65 Field Jacket" They are $370 but I don't care, I want American made quality. The SKU# is Z26L008-S for anyone here who wants an American made M65. Simply google it and you will find it. :-)

My experience has always been the opposite. Typically everything I have ever owned has failed when compared to the American made counterpart. Even my Jeep has been far more reliable than anything else I have ever owned. If that's what "gone to shit" means then I want more, lol

Since Alpha moved to CHINA in the 9os - their just making OVERPRICED DESIGNER garments for Fashion Hipsters and the CIVILIAN MARKET , has nothing more to do with the once great > MADE IN USA < military issue quality . There are other companies still in USA making ORIGINAL Military issue garments at a CHEAPER PRICE such as CONCORD - PROPPER - DELTA etc .

Bring back regular, big chest pockets on m-65 field jacket. Made this jacket great again. In the mean time, old "pieces", the real American products by So Sew Styles, John Ownbey, Alpha from the 60'&70', Golden MFG etc. is far better choice in genuine look, color and materials, than "new" style, bad copies by some Rothco and similar funny "wanna be" M65 field jackets manufacturers. Today, Polish made Helikon is closest to original. You have tons of pictures, pieces from military depots, vintage & second hand stores with genuine US Army jackets so..what's the problem to made it on right way? Need help? No prob- visit this site- Vintage trends, m65 section.

Alpha today are cheap fashion crap, not military american quality as in the 80s.
I bought an M65 about 15 years ago, and I hardly left the store before buttons fell off, and it lost its color.
When I came home I looked at the label, and it said: Assembled IN EGYPT by american parts, WHAT!
Today it's all about fashion/gay drug gang lookalikes, just look at the pics on websites selling their stuff, political correct crap.
