I love the Twinkle with the sprays of beautiful flowers. Thanks for sharing...I have a few oncidiums and the twinkle will be one on my next purchase...
Happy to meet you here. You have a beautiful garden. I just found you. my collection is all indoor as I live in an apartment. Looking forward to seeing more of your collection.
Hello Jasmine, really lovely to meet you here as well. I'm happy you love my garden, I quite a wide collection. I'm sure you are creating a beautiful tropical indoor garden. I do look forward to the interactions with you. One love. 💖🥂
Hey Rosie, I want to agree with you, off late they are doing pretty well and I am so happy. 😃. The twinkle is twinkling and I am certainly enjoying that. I'm so happy you love this video. Blessings and have a great week. 🥂.
Thank you for this very informative and educational video on Oncidiums, especially the Twinkles. I live on the East Coast of South Africa and our climate (tropical and lots of humidity) is very much like Jamaica. I visited Jamaica, Montego Bay in the late 70's and your climate was very similar to ours here in Durban. I was very reluctantly given (after a great deal of begging) three small rhizomes of Oncidium Dancing Lady from a lady. This plant was performing like a champion. It was mounted in a tree. I brought it home(approximately 20 years ago and it has been the most resilient and perfectly performing orchid in my whole garden, even when I fell ill and was unable to look after my poor suffering orchids for about 2 years she still pushed on and gave me magnificent shows relying only on rain water and fresh air and shade in the garden. She had multiplied at least 100 fold. I am now thinking of repotting some of the rhizomes into smaller pots, selling them and then I can spend the profits on some new Oncidium Twinkles etc, What a lovely reward for me having taken care of the original plant for +/- 20 years! I consider this my best Buddy in my whole garden. Thank you for your lovely video. I can tell you love your orchids just by your tone of voice and the way your seem to care passionately for them. I have subscribed to your channel.
Hello Joan, so good to have you visiting from South Africa both literally and virtually. Yes these dancing once they like where you have them, will reward you unconditionally. I find that they do very well mounted or hanging. Yes you are correct, I am passionate about growing orchids, I just need more time or help to maintain my garden. Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel and continue to enjoy the videos that are posted. One love from Jamaica.
I’m loving your oncidiums. I’m starting to collect more oncidiums and Tolumnias. Seeing yours makes me want to go out and buy some more. I do notice that they have to acclimate before putting out in stronger lighting. The leaves get yellow and spotty. I looooooove your twinkle. I have the same and I’m gonna get a couple more and create a huge price like yours. Good for you taking a little time off. It’s very hard to run channel plus do all our daily needs. 💚
Hello there Nel, Yes the oncidiums orchids are awesome and so are the Tolumias. We actually have tolumnias that are found in the wild. I have a few in my collection and they are all spiking I can't wait for them to open up. 💃💃. That twinkle I tell you did put on a splendid show it's truly beautiful. You should have access to more colours than us. Operating a channel and to be consistent is hard work, but when you love something you skillfully make the time. I'll be hopping over to you soon. You know how things get sometimes. Happy to see you. One love from Jamaica.💖🥂👍
This video came at a perfect time. I just ordered an Oncidium package from Carmela’s in Hawaii. Should arrive this week. For some reason I can’t get enough of them. All my plants are in the house because Florida is in the 30’s for 3 days then the 40’s for a few more. It’s time for it to warm up. I love the twinkle and the pink one.
Hello Jo, awww! I'm sure you are now anxiously awaiting your order. I'm glad you have taken up your plants as 30's and 40's degrees are really cold. It's 60's here and we are bawling 🤦♀️. I would really love to get the ID for that pink one. Do keep safe and warm. 🥂
Your oncidiums are just LOVELY! I grow several here in south Florida. They are my most reliable bloomers. Recently I have realized that they are more reliable for me than Cattleyas. So I will probably stop buying Cattleyas and decide to add more oncidiums instead. Thank you so much for your video. It is always a pleasure to watch them. Thanks!
Hello Pat, I'm so glad you love my Oncidium orchids. I really find them to be super easy to grow once the growing medium is right. I personally don't have much luck with growing Cattleyas I am now growing them in wooden baskets and I find that that is working for me. Thanks for watching and I'm really happy you find it a pleasure. 🥂

Hello 😊So nice to see you. Wonderful video. Your yard looks exquisite 😍This video came at the perfect time too. I recently bought 2 oncidiums, one Sharry Baby and another similar one , both of which smell like chocolate milk. After seeing your oncidiums, I'm so motivated to get more of them, they look gorgeous,. After hearing your story I'm not surprised you went and bought them, the plant had enormous potential 😊😍Thank you so much for this video, I really appreciate all the care tips. Warm greetings from TnT😎🌴☀️💕

Doc your Oncidiums are beautiful 😍❤ I must admit that I don't know much about them, but I'll follow your instructions because I'm struggling with one at home. Loving the Twinkle.
Hello Jenny, thanks for the compliment. 😊 I'm sure you will reap success once you keep them water and fertilize them regularly as well as keep them semi shaded. Happy growing. 🥂
Hola querido amigo. Estoy tan feliz de que ames mis videos. Me encantaría visitar su país ya que veo dónde crecen muchas orquídeas en su país también. Gracias por ver. Lo aprecio.
What an exquisite show of oncidiums, I am so in love with them. I gave up on them a long time ago because I used to buy them at the Agro Grace Sale each year and the rest is history. I realize that they do not like the hot climate. However, I do have one that I acquired in 2019 to give it another try and it is yet to spike much more bloom😞. Your colIection is very very beautiful and I have to agree that your twinkle is quite a show stopper. It's beyond beautiful🤩. Great video, thank you so much for sharing, I do hope that one day I will be able to grow them successfully😁.
Hello there Precious, yes the Oncidium orchids can really put on some spectacular shows. It seems they are bias as they do pretty well in the cooler areas but they will grow in the warm areas too as they are adaptive. In your area I would add a lot of water retentive medium as they really don't like to dry out. 💧 Thank you so much, I'm happy you love my collection. That twinkle is an unassuming one as they are so small. A small plant with the ability to put on a big show. 😃. I have all confidence that you will be successful at growing them.🤞 A true plant lover never gives up or run away from a plant challenge and I know that's who you are. 😊 Thanks for stopping by. One love. 💕😎🥂
@@growingorchidsinjamaica Thank you so much for the encouragement, and yes, I will not run away from the challenge of growing them, guess that's why I have 2 at home lol. Take care and blessings evermore my friend🥰🙏
Hi, I enjoy your video. Can you give the names of the plants you are showing so we can try and get the ones we like. You have a beautiful collection. Thanks
Hello friend. I do not always have the names of all the plants, however when I do, I share. Thanks for your comment and thanks you so much for watching.
Hi ca you make a video making the media and you repot it. I living in tampa florida. I like so much your video. I want mi oncibium orquid getting well like your. Thanks . My name is iris
Thank you for sharing videos on oncidium care. I watched this video several times😅😅😅 Bought addtional varieties of oncidium. I noticed my leaves get light yellow i water every 7 days maybe not enough? Im afraid of rot root cause my previous oncidiums died of rot root before. Im watching from the Philippines. Thank youand God bless❤
Hello, welcome to my channel from the Philippines. So sorry for the delayed response. You should observe the orchids prior to watering as over water will cause root rot. Ensure too that you treat your orchids with an insecticide as well as a fungicide. That helps to prevent certain insect and diseases from attacking your plant. Happy growing.
Hello Marilyn, so sorry you did not understand what was said. I use river stones or construction gravel, charcoal and small pieces of fern root. Thank you so much for watching.
I love your oncidiums. They are lovely. I have started to plant these last year in December. They habe not yet bloomed. I also live in a tropical island. I have put them on an open balcony, half day they received a full sunlight and half day, they are in full shade. I notice that the leaves have turned yellow and very often i have to remove them. What is your advice? Hope to hear from you.
Hello Yune, yes I must admit that oncidium orchids are truly beautiful. Welcome to the world of orchids. I find that my oncidium orchids does better under filtered light however they may still do well under your growing condition if you do not let them dry out for too long. The leaves of some of them cannot manage the full sun and so this can cause damage unless you acclimate them. Re the yellowing of the leaves, different things may be the cause of this. Check to make sure you are not having rotten or saggy pseudobulbs as this can cause the leaves to become yellow and fall. Thanks for touching base. I really appreciate. Happy gardening.
Did you create/ compile the orchid care book you speak of. How can I get a copy of the one you use. I'm a new grower, think I need the additional information..Especially for this hot Spanish Town climate.
Shakera, no I did not compile the care book I spoke off. You can get books online. I've bought these books a long time and so I'm not even sure where to point you locally. Welcome to the wonderful world of orchids, I'm sure you it's a ride you will enjoy. What types of orchids do you presently have?
Thanks for sharing. Love your twinkle I just bought a small one. Its 41 degrees in fortlauderdale so all my Orchids are in my garage I'm afraid the cold snap will hurt them . Hope we don't get any frost ❤❤❤❤ your orchids.
Hi Joan, yes that twinkle is really showing off. OK, so nice to know you now have one in your collection. They are beautiful. ❤. Wow 41 degrees!! That's cold. You have to probably cover your plants to reduce any damage. It's 63℉ here as a cold front is passing. Please stay warm. Nuff love from Jamaica.
Omg omg doc. Thank you. Amazing beautiful. Pretty. I am blown away. How i would wishhhhhhhhh to get an oncidium twinkle. We only have the yellow dancing lady back home. Oh doc send me a small package lololololol. Oh oh oh my world. These beauties. Great job doc. And yes I did miss you. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

@@growingorchidsinjamaica Thanks for your reply. Really appreciate it.

Hey Tarja, yes these orchids do know how to wow us. That Oncidium twinkle is so unassuming, but a real stunner. You could perhaps try to import some orchids as that is what most of do. It's good to be back and I hope I can keep up as I would love to. I value your support friend. Nuff love from Jamaica. 👍😍😎
