I fell in love with this hobby because of your videos. I started with one rescued phalaenopsis in September and now I’m addicted to rescuing more. As of this day I have 10 Phals and 2 Oncidiums. They’re showing new growths and I am so happy! Thank you Danni! 😘💐
Your title made me call my barber, he's opened yeah !!! Years ago I gave my sharry baby a total root clean cut (left small nubs) because of six or nine months of struggle. Also used your mineral oil formula. A year and half later gave me it's first bloom finally. Removal of dead roots did it. Thanks Danny.
Great video! I’m so happy that you teach your viewers and walk us through your decisions. This is why you’re the best! Great advice about doing what you want and what works for you. I see too many people who worry and stress over their orchids and if they are doing things correctly, and that’s not what orchids are about. Thanks to you, my orchids bring so much joy to my life! And the concert was very nice! I love seeing and hearing commentary from Maya and Joey!
This video is PERFECT bc I gave my bff a division of my miltonia sunset & it literally is in the same position. New roots outside the medium, still semi fresh bark & moss - you read my mind!
I understand ur problem with not having enough clear pots. I've been using drink cups for the smaller ones and on another video I watched a man make a pot out of a water bottle, looked like a 2 liter possibly. He cut it in 2 about 1/3 down from the top. He burned holes in the crew on cap (left in place) and several around the neck. Then he put a wick thru the cap and inverted the top part over the bottom that was full of water. He planted his orchid in that and it could wick up the water it wanted. I thought that was excellent and the only thing I would comment on is to tape the edges of the cut bottle with masking tape, etc., so they don't split.
Hi Danny! I have exactly the same problem with my Shelob Tolkien. I would love an update on your re-repot, and also updates on your saved oncidiums once again. Thank you!
Great timing for me today on this one. I have a near identical situation due for division and repotting this morning. I feel empowered rather than intimidated now, and your actions answered a question I had, whether I needed to treat the cut rhizome with cinnamon and, related to concern about subsurface rot, whether I could water immediately after repotting. You said you would water it and you didn’t mention rhizome rot at the cuts, so...one less issue to worry about. :)
Hi Danny. I am new to growing orchids. I just purchased a mini phal in bloom. She is potted in one of those cheap plastic pots packed and sphagnum moss.I took her out of that pot cleaned and sprayed her roots with hydrogen peroxide. My question is: should I repot her back in sphagnum moss? I was wondering if I should put a bit of the old sphagnum Moss mixed in with the new to help her acclimate more quickly.
I should have watched this one months ago! I was so afraid to cut apart the rhizome on mine when i repotted and now its stunting itself because it now has a heart shaped rhizome and is growing onto itself and stunting the pseudobulbs.. i did at least divide it during the repot because it kinda fell apart and the other half is doing really well but yeah the other not so much… hummm at this point i may wait to repot unless it starts to obviously decline…
Hey Danny!! Thank you for another seamless/enjoyable video! 😊 I have an onc. ‘Speckled spire twisp’ that is growing THREE new pseudobulbs, but the pot is way too small... should I wait for them to grow a little more or is it ok to repot while the new growths are tiny?
Hi Danny, maybe you could consider helping us out with the care of vandas in pots, the ones you have out and the ones inside. Just like you, I live in an area quite mild and windy -Algarve-Portugal, where the mild temperatures can vary to colder and windy,I would say in between 10C. And 30C along the year, and worry about leaving my vanda outside. .even in summer when we have the temperature around min. 15C, and higher 29, 30C... I am thinking of bringing it inside at night and in winter. Will it be ok? Window/outdoor balcony is southeast - in the summer sun between 7am and 11am in the balcony, however bright . At the window inside the house, I dont have direct sun, however is bright . Thank you for your time, and for everything you teach us. Ana
Hi, nurseries deliver to limited teritories, so it depends where you live. Maybe my favorite doesn't deliver to your location. I am in the EU and only know of stores that deliver in EU and my fav for Phals is Orchids Deluxe. Good luck!
Hi, I think the idea is great, I don't like that they are metal and I had some bad experiences with floral wire really damaging all it touched, canes, roots you name it! Now I use bamboo stakes that I cut to fit the pot and place it over the rhizome. I think I talk about it here, check it out th-cam.com/video/1UQHjYZvPIM/w-d-xo.html
@@MissOrchidGirl Oh wow that is good to know. Thank you for sharing your experience. I have a few rootless orchids that were mistreated during shipping so I was looking for extra help.
Great video, as always ❤️🙏🏻 do you still grow Cattleyas in semi hydroponics (Specifically outside)? Would love to see an update video on your semi hydroponic setup... if you are still happy? Do’s and dont’s? Ever thought of giving it up?...you know, your thought 💭 if you’ve already made a similar video, please navigate me in the right direction to that video please. Keep well 🌺
Hi, I actually gave up semi hydro completely a bit over a year ago, I don't have a dedicated video on it, but I talk more about it here th-cam.com/video/2tdQKv--CtU/w-d-xo.html

Wohoooo!! It's a bloom party 🥳 glad to hear! ☺️
You have helped me over my “fear” of cutting. Great video once again!
Thank you for doing this one! Videos about dealing with well established orchids that are overgrowing their areas are really helpful!
I want to thank you for your maintenance videos. You are a very good teacher and you don’t paddle us when we make mistakes 😜😜😜

Thank you so much for making growing orchids fun . We can make choices that suits the situation rather than following rules. Loved the video.🥰🤗
The doves are so cute 🥺
You are right! We need to make things easier and have realistic expectations 😆 I loved this video and it made me realize that I need to fix mine. 😻
Thanks for this video Danni! I enjoyed watching your thought process☺xx
I realy found this video very helpful. Thank you!
I have to share this video! So many people need to hear the end of this video. And I am sure anyone who had orchids needs to see the beginning!
Aww glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for being my member! 🧡🧡🧡

Hi, yep I don't typically seal rhizomes anymore, they are woody and dry on their own super fast ☺️
*MissOrchidGirl* Love it !!
Very informative thank you so much!!! 💋💖🦋

I love my sweatshirt and I get soooo many compliments!
Still waiting for my sweatshirt. It has been shipped, so maybe it will arrive in the next few weeks! 💜
Aww 🧡
Hope there won't be delays in transport, let me know when you receive it!
I really need to do this with my Oncidium Aloha Iwanaga. It's such a climber!! Thanks!!
Oh dear, I had so much trouble with this plant, finally got rid of it. I wish I found your channel earlier

Upps.. Vanda insignis, I should have mentioned
Mmmm I am still scared to repot oncidiums much less to cut the rhizomes!!!
I repotted a orchid in leca, put some fertilizer on it, and a leaf turned brown. Is the orchid okay and did i make a mistake?
How do you fertilize orchids? Is it by spraying? Do you also have to spray the leaves?
What is the best fertilizer?
Dannie, I’m having trouble finding the perfect phalaenopsis. Do you know of a website with a large selection?

MissOrchidGirl that place has some real beauties.
What are your thoughts on rhizome clips? I watched a seminar the other day and they were saying rhizome clips really help with root growth.
It could in a way as in this case orchid doesn't move at all in the pot and roots tips wouldn't get damaged
@@travelorchidslondon thank you
