Great review and good board comparison. I´ve tried de subdriver 2.0 for long time and I agree with you, good board but kind of sticky, hard to move around in small surf. I am currently riding the PJ pro, mainly in small and mushy waves, good paddling and manage flats spots pretty well… in more punchy waves with different set of fins the PJ pro works also good. Maybe riding it a little bit more, would be better than Rad Ripper. Very good review!! Thanks
Dig the on locations mate. The comparison is great, some sweet tunes towards the end. Water looks cold and that makes it all more impressive - lol don’t envy yall East Coasters (anymore..).
@@TravisVarga winter used to seem to last forever, but it’s really only a few months of this haha. Fall is a dream (if Mother Nature cooperates). Looks like you’re getting some solid surf out there!
@@b1slyfox I was looking into the larges and they seem super large, they look to have a ton of surface area, what conditions were you using the quads in?
@@SurfTechChannel I've ridden them in everything to VB knee high mush to almost double overhead OBX in that last hurricane swell at the end of summer. I've always liked large fins for smaller waves, more drive and speed. I will say I bought a Pyzel ghost after riding the PJ pro in the bigger surf. PJ Pro is my daily and the ghost for those hurricane swells/ good waves when it gets overhead. Matt has a TH-cam vid talking about the 3.0 fins and he recommends the large for wide tails like the PJ pro. Here's the link th-cam.com/video/6q492S9KiaE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YY9gRz0_G37tZs7M
@ thank you!! I have a ghost too that I’ll be throwing a review together on when conditions permit haha! Thanks again for the support and info/ recommendation!
@@brandonbernardo4748 I’ve held the ripper in person and they look pretty sick. I think it would be in between a rad ripper and a sub driver 2.0. Looks to have some elements of both. I’ll see if I can get one in the future. Thanks for tuning in!
@@SurfTechChannel you will love it moving forward. the RR has a super flat deck that makes it over stable and harder to rotate IMHO. the very wide tail does not help for that also. the PJ Pro has all the paddle and wave entry benefits but it is easier to manuver. i think you slided on the PJ first wave because you are used to putting more power to rotate the RR but in the PJ pro that amount of power is not needed. lastly, there is 'the ripper' now, and it should be more of a direct competiton to the PJ PRo...
@@coleharvey5418 thanks for watching Cole! That’s what I’ve found with the SD2, but also likes cleaner waves better too. I’ve ridden it in punchy chest to OH with some chop and wasn’t the feeling I was after, but that was just my preference.

The puddle Jumper Pro goes pretty good with the Mayhem 3.0 fins in a quad setup. Much better than the thruster setup with the same fins.
@@b1slyfox definitely going to try that option out on the full review! Thanks for the recommendation!
@@SurfTechChannel I have the 3.0 in large, figured Id' mention since we ride the same dims/vol .

Nice review. How do you think the newer the ripper would compare?

i had the rad ripper for a year and a half and the PJ pro for a year and a half. PJ pro for the win no doubt...

Best surfing was definitely on the Rad Ripper. Great review seems like the SD2 needs a more punchy wave.
