    If it was just 1 or 2 joists not more than a 1/4 high I always pull out the belt sander & knock them down the sheeting isn’t hard to belt sand down on the high spots. This will also help when doing the rest of the bath floor not just where the tub is.

      That's a really good tip. I ended up getting some self leveling cement and bringing up each side instead. Worked pretty good and now I don't have to put down cement board for my tile. I'll definitely think about pulling out the belt sander next time. Thanks Roy!

    One main issue is make sure everything is clean and flux, and next you always put the heat directly on the thickest parts so that when the soder draws into your joint, it seals well to both parts., and if you ever have to soder on something that has a valve that can be damaged by heat, you need to remove those parts and once the soder is done, you put that valve back in place that is done not to damage the valve.

      Good tips. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching our videos.

    One word from a HVAC guy that did a lot of soldering of copper. Do not heat the joint directly, heat below the joint so the solder will be drawn into the joint. ( clear as mud I hope. ) one other point, soldering flux does not need to be applied with fingers, using a flux brush keeps the flux from any human body oils.

      Good tip. I was a little unclear on where to point the torch but finally got the hang of heating above the joint like you described. I learned my lesson with the flux. I had a small cut on my hand and it hurt a bit after messing with the flux. Next time I'll be buying a brush for sure.

    Hallå badkaret bör ej stå på trägolvet det behövs inte mycket fukt för att förstöra trägolv . Golv väggar tak sedan utrustningen .

    Why such a small tub and why such a cheap plastic wall? Why not putting ceramic tiles?

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a standard size tub. This is our guest bathroom/kids bathroom. We are doing tile work in our master bathroom and will probably remodel once the lower bath once the kids move out.

    American plumbing is soooo different to UK plumbing 🙄 your baths are short, you've got to use that black paste stuff on joints 🙄
    In the UK, our baths are longer and we use screw type white plumbing pipes under the bath & sinks (faucet to you I guess 🤭 )
    But your place is coming along nicely 🥳🎉👏

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. PVC is used frequently here as well, but usually not the screw on fittings. Interesting that tubs in the UK are longer. Maybe you guys are taller?

  • @djburland
    @djburland ปีที่แล้ว

    Why are you fitting the bath before you line the walls?

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  ปีที่แล้ว

      This tub and surround are designed to be attached directly to the studs.

  • @Mariekennedy7478

    While you two are doing tub and shower stall. Why not continue up with shower walls with some type or same as walls already; So you can raise shower head up enough so your husband can actually stand under shower Head; instead of having to bend or squat under it? Unless it was just angle of your camera that makes it look like your Husband is Much Taller than shower head. Then just patch original hole for shower head.

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are right, we should have raised it up. Luckily this is only our kids bathroom so it should work out fine for them. We'll make sure to make it taller in our master bathroom.

    • @MarciaStanfield
      @MarciaStanfield ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do know they are likely to be tall also? Better before you tile. Just saying.....

  • @larryperdue508

    Bathtubs are out dated because setting in dirty water is unhealthy walk in showers are more modern 😊😊😊

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for this thought. We thought about doing just a shower because that's what we'll mainly use it for, but then we thought about bathing our dogs and hopefully, one day, some sweet little grand babies.
      But, to contradict your thinking, my (Sara's) grandma only took baths, and she lived to be 95 so it didn't seem to cause her any major health issues.
