I love Nobunobu because he wasn't redeemed by dying. His redemption was something he worked for. Wracked with guilt for his wrongdoings, and surrounded by people who hated him for it, he strived to do the right thing regardless. In the end, he showed what a true Shogun should be and earned the respect of those around him. With his life, he was able to end the war against the Liberation Army, and entered Edo into an age without a Shogun.
How gintama manages to create characters that I hate at first and by the end of their lives and seeing what they are or in nobunobu's case, redeem themselves is beyond me. Sorachi is an absolute genius when it comes to writing characters. As someone who only finished gintama about 8 months ago, there has been no other series out there that has made love it's characters as much as gintama
As a fellow Gintama fan, this video just earned you a subscriber. I used to hate Nobunobu, but I found myself shocked at how I started liking him after his redemption arc as he tried to atone for his wrongs.
I so relate, I used to hate his guts but honestly in those 20ish eps my opinion completely shifted, he is a redemption arc done right what a great character, oh and thanks for not only the subscription but also the comment as well
@@SephTheSin I hope you cover other characters from Gintama like Takasugi or the duality of Utsuro/Shoyo. I think you should also mention some of the historical circumstances behind Gintama and their inspirations like the Meiji Restoration. Takasugi is based off Takasugi Shinsaku. He's a national hero in Japan whose actions helped kicked off the social upheaval and modernization during the Meji Restoration as he did with the real life Kihetai.
I already have a Utsuro video up on my channel for you to watch, and Takasugi is a character I really want to make a video on but I just don't think I could do him justice just yet so It may be a while off, and yeah I am a big fan of the history behind the real life people much of Gintams cast is based off
Let's just be honest. If Katsura and Tatsuma show their respect to you as a Ruler and mourned for your death then you are already worthy of the title of Shogun.
Nobunobu us defo a super underrated and overlooked character in Gintama While I don't like him as much has Shigeshige (nothing against him, I'm just the #1 Shigeshige Stan), he's still a incredible character And comparing these 2 shogun, is one of my favorite aspect of Gintama, they work so well as foils
Despite what I said in the video Shigeshige is still my #1 Shogun, and will make video on him in the future, but yeah I so agree, they act as such amazing foils for one another
The moment he willingly laid his life for his country, the moment he casted away revenge for the good of his nation, the moment he actually started caring for his nation he's the real shogun, the general of the nation. Sadly Sorachi would never let him live because he killed Shigeshige. (Though I kind of expected Shigeshige to die too because he won't have any further plot significance tbh and otherwise the Shinsengumi and Katsura would never work together, and unless all characters are on the same side the final boss won't be able to appear)
The thing that makes me so sad is to think that shigeshige probably never resented nobunobu at all. He probably never had any feelings of hate towards nobunobu at deaths door. Shigeshige would have probably wished that nobunobu became a greater shogun than himself.
I really like ur videos also I just started watching this series called BOFURI I don’t want to get hurt so I’ll max out my defense and it’s really good after finishing that series I wondered who would win in a fight Naofumi from rise of the shield hero or maple from BOFURI if you haven’t watch BOFURI I highly recommend it if you have who do you think would win a fight 🤔
I can't forgive Nobu, Shige will also be my shogun. I don't care about Nobu's redemption. This is the hill I will die on. There are three Gintama characters I will always hate and Nobu is one of them.
Alright, so I wanna step in here, the "pants shitting" scene is Very Clearly a political commentary on the value of "peace-talks" during war. That NobuNobu is the one dealing with that is almost irrelevant to the point of the scene. The fact that "it's poop" is repeated is what the focus is on. All of these negotiations come down to shit, and offer such a temporary relief they might as well be shit, as tomorrow the same platitudes will have to be shat out again. It's both hilarious and brilliant. The rest is really good though.
It’s coming soon, Gintoki, Takasugi and Nobume r all characters I really want to make videos on but need to rewatch a lot of the show in preparation for making those vids
I hate how he becomes a different character just after being around Sakamoto. Sorachi just uses him as talk no jutsu and useless at everything else. Irrelevant for the majority of the plot and can't even use a sword.
He is a Shogun. A Ruler or a King. While of course there are a lot of Kings or Rulee who can do combat but it is not their main roles to be a combatant. Him being a different character after being with Tatsuma is of course different than Naruto.
Shigeshige lived as the Shogun but died an ordinary man. Nobunobu lived as an ordinary man but died as the Shogun
o shiet this is deep

I completely agree, Sorachi is masterful at his trade and Nobunobu is just one small example of that
bloody sorachi he killed two the charakters I liked when i thought they are saved

No not even close lol. That's Sada Sada who carried out purges and was doing the bidding of the Amanto.

Best part is he redemption start off with him having diarrhea but somehow that entire part has actual significance to his development.

Yeah he started off as a fake but by the end of his arc became the real deal, thanks for the comment
He live as a villain and he died as a hero
Your analysis is great! I love Nobunobu so much. And even now, I'm crying. Because this is so beautiful and so sad. Good, very good job! Thank you
It warms my heart that you enjoyed the video so much, RIP Nobunobu
character development personified

Love that scene when he got punch from Kamui))
This character had such an great redemption arc Up There With Killua And Tsukishima From Haikyuu Such Goat
Redemption arc's are on of the best types in fiction

as much as i grown to like nobunobu shigeshige will be forever my 1#Shogun
They both hold a very special place in my heart and honestly I couldn’t tell you which I prefer more, let’s agree though that Shigeshige is great
Great video. Here's a comment for the algorithm.
Thanks for the comment as always Rin
Can't wait for the audiobook

get my like, and get my tears T_T

Of all the people who could show Nobu Nobu the right way, it had to be Sakamoto the baka. Sorachi is a genius ❤
I hate how he becomes a different character just after being around Sakamoto. Sorachi just uses him as talk no jutsu and useless at everything else. Irrelevant for the majority of the plot and can't even use a sword.
I’d completely disagree but hey we are all allowed our own opinions and thanks for the comment
Agree to disagree can't compare Gintama with trash naruto
