Be careful of snakes when you're on these trails or just hiking! We were there a few years back and my daughter and son-in-law helped women get her son to the hospital because he got bitten. Be mindful of bears as well because you are in their territory.

I love it up there in Gatlinburg and surrounding areas.. Out of all the vacation spots my family visited when I was younger, the great smokey mountains in eastern TN was my favorite and most memorable.
The "steps" up the side of the house with the ladder look to me like it was once a tiered waterfall. The cistern at the top would've supplied the water.

I was thinking of the labor required in the process to gather and transport the stones (were those steps hand chiseled to the correct size?), bricks (even 10 bricks is a heavy load), cement or sand and lime or whatever., pipes... to the perfect location. Home depot wasn't dreamed of and hardware wasn't likely within 100 mi radius. Then the build itself. I enjoyed your video. Thank you.

Go to Smokemont campground in Cherokee and hike about a mile up the mountain and in the middle of nowhere is the old Carver cemetery. There are some interesting homemade tombstones. Also there is another cemetery near the campground and a long abandoned amphitheater with trees growing in the sitting area.
also at the 7.23 mark you have one sitting o the mushroom with that yellow and black bug on the opposite side :) they are almost see thru but you can see her little wings flapping
kimberly johnson If you go to Yellowstone Nat'l Park, I want to "warn you" that all of the geysers and bubbling paint pots give off a sulfur smell. So if you're adverse to the smell of rotten eggs, you'll be prepared. We went on a trip there when I was little and we were all complaining to our Dad,"You didn't tell us it smelled so bad!" He told us,"I didn't know it smelled so bad!" It's beautiful though. You'll see Morning Glory Pool which you may have seen on various nature shows or in magazines. It's a vivid blue with other colors towards the edges. It's very hot and I think the colors are from algae or something. I've seen it referred to by other names recently. I'm so grateful that my Dad took us to see things like this every summer. I'm 66 and about 15 years ago it occurred to me that he wasn't showing us, but these were places that he wanted to see! He was an avid reader and probably carefully planned our trips so he could take as much as he could in 2 weeks! Not too many other 66 y/o kids can say this! I know you'll enjoy your trip! Take it all in and have fun!

Fairy houses blend into the environment so well they are nearly impossible to see unless you have spent years around the Fae.
Still they really should have left some flowers or fruit or some offering. I suppose they didn’t know.
