People underestimate sampling, it's one of the hardest things to pull off successfully. Trust me, once you learn an instrument, you learn how other things should sound naturally and what goes next is instincts. Not having that natural ability will cause a lot of headaches and growing pains when using samples.
@@hectorheckler6327 like they say, hindsight is 20/20. In the eighties and nineties there were no sample packs with tempo and key in the description. You needed to use your ears and without those pioneers, Splice and all that other stuff wouldn't exist. Even now, if you're really digging in the crates for some obscure record you may not find the key and tempo. Even with that knowledge it's obvious when you hear a beat and they don't know what to do with the sample. No added instrumentation, bass is not in key etc.
navie D is underrated. he changed the entire structure of his face and head just to fit more information in his head, just to give to us. truly a saint
1. Use the chord progressions inside the sample to give a direction instead of just picking random parts. 2. Use minimalistic sample parts to be flexible when it comes to adding your own sounds, VSTs etc. 3. Use a single note from the sample to put it in a sampler again to create your own chords.
Since the day I discovered this channel, my desire to produce music has multiplied by understanding things that otherwise would have taken me months or years. Thank you for dedicating part of your time to share your knowledge with people. We appreciate that.
Used all of these techs on my recent contest beat and secured a runner up position 💪 Shouts out to the Navahoez. If you put a beat up for the contest let me know so I can listen to it. I'm excited to try the course out Navie
I'm really kinda intimidated by sampling and with so much to learn and improve on, I have yet to even try. But videos like this one are very encouraging. I've come to really trust in your content and teaching style. So thank you for this, and your entire channel really! You've become my go to source for nearly all things related to FL Studio and music production.
You’re the best Navie, been a subscriber for years and it’s helped me a lot, I self-produce for the most part and your videos have helped A lot and made me improve my beats For that I say Thank You Navie🙌🏽
idk if it counts as a bone, but i can definitely change the size of a certain body part. lmao. love your videos, man. i've been producing for years and even with everything i've learned, i still pick up tricks and tips from you.
Hey Navie... Just to let you know that I always visit your channel and watch your videos... I confess that I'm not the best viewer, I don't always hit the like button, but I always learn a lot from you.. In a current world looking for numbers and metrics, know that the impact you have on my productions is much bigger than all that... anyway, thank you and a hug... DJ Noé (São Paulo / Brazil)
This dude is a true artist. His beats has another level of feel to it. The second beat slaps so hard i thought that was my mom hitting me with the belt
I watch a ton of TH-cam videos. I’ve watched about 3 of your videos. I must say, I love the way your low end sounds. You should do a tutorial on how to get low end like you.
Coming from the old school era ( Golden age ) it was fashionable to flip a sample until it was unrecognizable (So as to not have used the same sample in the same way as anyone else ) . I’m a fan of all of these methods mentioned here. Chop chop 🍴
Navie your videos are excellent man and your humor is on point! I love the "Overexplained and "Beginner, Intermediate, Big Brain" like this one! Keep doing your thing man I'm definitely learning from your teaching P.S. Are you going to be doing a video from the most recent subscriber beat submission? Hope to hear from you!
I would love to see a video how to find samples. I am often trying to find a good sample for hours and find nothing or end up with sample with completely different vibe than I wanted it to sounds like
Hey Navie D , hope you're doing well. Man where can I listen to your beats, such as the one you played at 6:04? That sounded soo hard and grimey, instantly fell in love with it. TIA
Hey man. Im just starting out and have been loving your channel. Youre truly the best FL Studio guide out there. Youve done step by step vids before, any chance you'd make a video on how to make an NF/Tom Macdonald kind of beat? Beats with that orchestral sound. Like they got Beethoven type instrumentals mixed in. Thanks for the content!
Crazy off topic question. But first let me say ur teaching style and videos are awesome fam. I just finally bought fl studio. I bought the producer version. Should I upgrade to the full version with all the plugins. Or the signature version. Thank you in advanced
That first tip was helpful. Although it would seem that your tips point to just looking for samples or parts of samples that aren't super busy with other instrumentation or textures. Just curious, how much would you charge for that beat at 10:00? Such an amazing beat came out of an example piece.
You're a doctor, huh? The way you speak reminds me of the general practitioner been going to for quick medical check ups if necessary since I was a child, lol.
@@NavieD lol, yeah bro, everything you say sounds like a thoroughly researched fact, cus doctors be sounding like that, lol. In one of your videos you said you review subscriber’s beats… I tried searching for the videos where you do that and can’t seem to find them.

True. But knowing what key that the sample is in makes things a heck of a lot easier to build around it.
