I Can not believe this!! I chatted with Apple support for FOUR hours yesterday and they could not help me with this issue and suggested me to bring the MacBook to a repair centre. You solved my problem with this video in only 6 minutes!! Thank you so much, you are amazing!! :D :D
Just simply avoid partition tab (it was complicated there). Go to erase tab instead after macOS extended (journaled). Name your disk and click erase. Done and done.
I just don't know how to take sir, I spend all day trying to figure out this issue, I couldn't find it, until I watched your video, thank you very much. God bless!
Did you ever fix this problem? I am stuck at this exact step further if I look at the installation log is see chunk validation failed error over and over before it gives up finally and says failed to install additional files or something like that
I fixed the problem after a month of testing and it is not available on TH-cam. I changed the version from Leon to High Sierra and installed the program.
When I hit download it says -200000004668 hours then 0 hours and then it says cant download the additional components needed to install Mac OS X. Is it time for a new computer?
Thank you so much it’s a big help. I’ve been watching and searching lot of videos this one worked. By the way is the 166gb is enough for future upgrade OS?
The certificates of many of Apple's installer certificates expired in late October, 2019, so a lot of people have been having problems installing an OS that was previously downloaded from the app store - even if you burnt it to a CD or an USB stick. It has caused big messes that their support stuff hasn't a clue about fixing. This has been a problem with mainly the newer OS's but probably is affecting the older versions also. Apple has reposted some of the operating systems for download - mainly the newer ones - but if you go to their support and do a search for the one you're looking for (try "Lion download") you might be able to download it from there. Though if you have access to another Mac, after getting the glitch with the app store, try logging into the app store on the other Mac and there might be an option to download it again - I had the same problem with El Capitan then when I logged in from another drive, the download for it showed up in the App store so I had a fresh copy. If not, people have been having success with the older (or expired) installers and using Recovery to reinstall by changing the date before reinstalling... (this is from an apple discussion post discussions.apple.com/thread/250793420?answerId=251691766022#251691766022 - go there for more help - or search more specifically for the OS you're trying to reinstall). The error message in this post is a bit different, but it might work. Boot into Recovery again. Try to login the App store again (it will give you the same message). Restart again if it says to. Once you're back in Recovery, do the following... Shut off WiFi (Airport - top right) and/or unplug Ethernet cord. Drop down Utilities Menu at the top. Choose Terminal, then type this and only this: "date 0115124517" (without quotations - It will show new date with new time - Jan 1 12:45 2017 - any date in 2017 or earlier should work - you might have to experiment). Quit Terminal - go back to the main menu and click on "Reinstall OS X" again. Hopefully it will install properly. If you reboot and the machine gets hung up, zap the PRAM in between to clear out the air (Command + Option + R) - no brackets. Hold the key combo down for at least three reboots - then let go. Then either hold down the Option key to get a list of viable startup disks - or hold the key combo to get into recovery - Command + Option + R - I think.
@@MonkellD - good to know. Glad you figured it out. I spent weeks trying all sorts of "remedies" I found online trying to install El Capitan - then I found that post above about the changing of the date and it changed everything - it installed properly without any errors. Then I downloaded the upgraded installer from Apple's website, and made a new USB installer with Terminal and used that to install on the other drives without having to change the date. The part about zapping the PRAM - well that always fixes something, doesn't it, lol. I found that when I'd try (and fail) to install El Capitan from the corrupted installers, not only the drive I was trying to install onto got screwed up, but it would go in a loop rebooting back only into the installer - no operable drives would show up - so I thought I'd give the PRAM zap a try and it broke the cycle. The corrupted El Capitan installer would destroy the permissions (and access to) of any drive I tried to install it onto and I would finally have to use Terminal to reset it's permissions. Totally crazy! I read that people had spent hours on the phone with Apple Support trying to find a solution, and not one of them ever suggested the time change - or even knew about the expired certificates in the installers.
thank you my man you saved the day for me, much appreciated i thought i ruined my imac kept getting no harddrive and the folder with question mark, thanks so much
I was having the problem with the temporary unavailable while reinstalling (I watched your video on that too). I never replaced the disk, but "option+command+R" on startup did the trick. (Before it was trying to install Yosemite, but this reverted it back to Lion. Not a real issue.) thanks for the help, and please link the videos for future viewers.
None of this seemed to work for me so what I did was that I went to the disk I tried making during factory setting that’s turned corrupted, clicked erase, and then it let me repair + verify it so I did that, then it magically also let me connect to the WiFi and then I installed OS X Mountain Lion. Thankfully I could skip all this info bc it wasn’t working for me since I don’t have enough memory to make a partition LMAO
LIFE SAVER! Apple wanted to ship me off to a paid service when I wiped the main OS disk. While I had to make a partition like you did. Saved me a lot of hassle. THANKS!!

If not, people have been having success with the older (or expired) installers and using Recovery to reinstall by changing the date before reinstalling...

I figured mine out and the last paragraph you wrote is exactly how i fixed mine!
