    Looks good. Hopefully they'll bring out a steam era one in BR green with wasp stripes and/or LMS maroon.

    Thank you for the 'top-off' views. I'm interested to see these, simply because the chassis looks ideal for use on 3 foot gauge
    (OO12) outside framed steam locos, as indeed the Grafar N gauge Gronk has been used in OO9. Letterkenny & Burtonport, West Clare and County Donegal come to immediate mind, never mind all the Indian and African roads........

  • @wildstrawberryline

    Thanks for reviewing. Looks promising. I'd like to see one crawl on DC once run in. It does indeed look like there's bags of room inside for a sound decoder and speaker and/or more weight. I'll consider an early green one when they become available.

    • @PeachyTT120
      @PeachyTT120  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I’m not sure why they didn’t start with the early green one, perhaps the bean counters just looked at which 08 sold the best in 00 rather than looking at what could be a running mate to the first wave of TT locos?

    haha when you said "someones gona tinker with one" my ears went yep me probably! 🤣ive just done a Graham Farish 08 with sound and lights, crew and weathered... i have a Hornby TTS chip so naturally the next sensible thing would be for me to get the TT Class 08 and maybe a peice of track! Great Review! Hornby here i come! 😂

      A chap called Richard did it yesterday
      m.th-cam.com/video/_mN0q2eWrhk/w-d-xo.html
      Although he is using WiFi it’s not the Hornby HM7000.
      What I’d like to do is try using the Bluetooth HM7000 8pin with an adapter down to a 6pin plug, maybe with it located in an accompanying wagon? Also I’m not sure if that reduction from 8 to 6 is even possible?

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeachyTT120 yes you can run an 8 pin on a six pin.. 2 pins are for the track, 2 pins are for the motor, 2 pins are for lights 👍 the extra 2 pins generally are a common positive and an Aux wire 👍
      Ive litterally just ordered the 08 thanks to your video it pushed me over the edge haha, plus some other bits and bobs.. in my case il add the Hornby TTS, stay alive, lights, maybe a coupling actuator too 👍

    • @PeachyTT120
      @PeachyTT120  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThisWayWorksTWW I think the stay alives are almost a must, without them these Bluetooth decoders are a bit “glitchy” only problem is they aren’t a straightforward fit.
      As for 8 into 6 I’m assuming it would need some hard wiring rather than using NEM sockets/plugs?

    • @ThisWayWorksTWW
      @ThisWayWorksTWW ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeachyTT120 a plug would be easy enough to transfer 6 to 8 pin however the downside would be loosing space, il opt im my case for hardwiring as il need all the space i can get. That being said if there is plenty of space as it looks like there is i may get away using an adapter plug 👍.. its possible to DIY an adapter from 6 to 8 pin just using the pinout drawings on the web 👍

    Hi Chris, I hope your health issues get sorted out! My 50 arrived today and is great! Just need to fit a power bank once your video comes out!!
    Hornby are now showing the HM7000 6 pin decoder for the 08 as not arriving until Autumn 25! Are there any suitable alternatives available for the 08? Best regards David

    • @PeachyTT120
      @PeachyTT120  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello David. I’m doing fine thank you.
      I’ve just uploaded the 50 review, a powerbank install might have to wait until Hornby bring out their smaller version I’m afraid. As for the 08 and decoders, the only alternative if you want to stick purely with the HM7000 app is to hardwire an 8pin.

      I did switch my main loops over to DC control to run it in after I’d made the video. Runs well, but if the previous models (the A1 & A4s) are anything to go by then when it’s under DCC control I’m expecting the crawling to be excellent.

    • @RichardBrooklyn
      @RichardBrooklyn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hornby say that a speaker won't fit and I think they might be right.
      I can fit a spare sugar cube speaker I have and I *think* I should be able to hardwire the 8 pin hm7000 without issue.
      However... The speaker will only fit if you don't include any type of enclosure. And without the enclosure, it'll sound pretty awful.
      I can fit the speaker between the space above the worm gear and the "shelf" the circuit board sits on. I can't see any space where the speaker enclosure would also go.
      The space inside the cab is inaccessible.
      Might be possible if I take a dremel to it. But I'm unwilling to do that.

    • @PeachyTT120
      @PeachyTT120  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeachyTT120 or we can source a smaller speaker.
      I'm fairly new to the hobby. What is smaller than a sugar cube with it's smallest enclosure?

    • @RichardBrooklyn
      @RichardBrooklyn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A bit of searching and head scratching and I think it might be possible.
      You can unscrew the "shelf" part where the circuit board goes. You'd then have to unsolder a wire to remove it, and resolder it later. Then I think the sugar cube will fit above the worm gear.
      If you want to keep the shelf you'd have to hit it with the dremel and trim the end, and hope it doesn't shatter. The board would then be able to sit back a bit and the speaker in front of it.
      I think it's possible. Just.
      Then you need a very small decoder.

    Non-modeller question: Assuming that the yellow track rods are true to life, do you know why it was helpful to paint them like that? Oh, and why the nickname Gronk? Thanks!

    • @PeachyTT120
      @PeachyTT120  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hopefully some Gronk fans will be along to advise on the Yellow, but I’m guessing it will be something to do with visibility as the locos quite often work at very slow speeds adjacent to track workers.
      I think the Gronk nickname is to do with the sound they make.
