Agree that Acura needs to add a hybrid trim of the RDX and the Type S is a no brainer, however I don’t agree with fully digital gauges, there is a beauty in the combo of analog with the digital screen in the middle and that screen is big enough to show you all the info you need, do you have the new RDX?, if not I’ll tell you since I have this same trim I know the gauges as you see in the video the background is white during the day and as the day goes by it changes to light gray mid-day then dark gray at dusk and black at night, I love that.

  • @rs3tuber425

We just sold our RDX 3rd gen A specs. We loved a few thing and we hated a few things. What we liked whas the size, it is a perfect size SUV. The handling was unreal too, you could toss this vehicle around on 90 degree tight turns and it handled so good. The AWD is so good and there is minimal body roll. Steering was great, seats were great and technology and looks very good. What I hated about it it was how weak and watered down the transmission was. No launch control, only soft launch leaving a full second on the table on acceleration. I have dragy and I could only get 7.3 sec 0-60 and a pathetic 15.3@93-94mph at 3100 ft elevation. Another thing that was so inadecuate was the average brakes, too weak, no strong bite. lastly the gas mileage. I got 17-18 mpg in east texas for a few hundred miles with the A/C on at 83-85 mph. My Tacoma 2020 with the V6 and 4X4(although running as RWD) would comfortably do 20 mpg. I almost did a Stage 1 and/or stage 2 on the RDX using flash tuner but we never did. Had I known about the acceleration or the gas mileage and i would have gone for the BMW or the Audi. our A spec was $47k so it wasn't cheap either. Lastly, the transmission, despite being fast is a weak transmission rated barely above the manufacturers torque ratings, basically it is known to not handle a lot .

We have a 22 RDX.Two comments Tedward. 1. I find the touchpad wonky but you can get to any corner of the screen by touching that corner/position on the touchpad, no need to drag your finger. We set up the screen before we leave the house and use voice commands while driving. 2. I'll bet you can swap that 2.0 into your Civic Si. Excellent overall assessment. My wife loves the RDX, I'm sticking with my 2013 TSX wagon.

I'll say, posting from the future, that the 3 year residual on this isn't so great, which isn't a problem if you're not trying to sell, but for me whom is changing vehicles to more practicality due to life events, buying something like this used for 30k (in my area) is one hell of an attractive idea! This seems like a lot of car at that price point and with only a few ten thousand miles as well. Great video.

I’ve got one of these. It’s a 2021 model with a lot of accessories. It’s a White A-Spec with the SH-AWD Package, Red Interior, Step Rails, Cross Bars, bunch of cargo accessories for the trunk, floor mats with the A-Spec logo on them and a bunch of other accessories on it. Just did a 2,000 mile road trip from California to Illinois and the car did great. It has a respectable amount of power considering it’s an SUV with only a 4 cylinder. It’s a great car, only complaint is the tiny gas tank and terrible gas mileage.

Upon reflection, the 10-speed gearbox (or maybe it's programming) seems to make the car bipolar. In some respects it reminds me of an Southeast Asian buffet restaurant near me, where every dish was labeled either "Mild" or "Blazing Hot". It seems that the engine in the RDX is always either a couple of RPM above idle (max MPG), or else with the RPM maxed out (max HP), but with little time spent in between.

    • @Pilski

It gets a little sticking if you set the transmission to 'S' and drive in "Sports" mode... but I mean if you are looking for max efficiency, you should be manually shifting at this point.
I'd say for the avg driver the ratios are perfect, and for enthusiasts, having the other options is amazing. my only complaint... I'd love to be able to see what gear I'm in on the dashboard easier when I'm in manual shift mode.

You guys ('testers, reviewers') sometimes drive me (us) nuts! @5:10, for instance - you get in a car for a VERY brief time, fiddle around with a few things and begin your negative harping. My first of the current model RDX was a 2020 Advance. Within a VERY short time I determined just how superior the touch-pad is to the stupid, clumsy, distracting tough screens. Took just that short time to LEARN to use the touch-pad, with merely a nano-second glance at the screen to navigate it. Touch screens (I've had those...YEARS ago) require diverting your attention from driving, the major fault, take more time, get smudgy and are simply clumsy to use. Before you condemn something, take a few minutes to learn HOW TO USE IT! (i turned 85 yrs. old 'bout a month ago and if I can do it, you young 'techies' surely should be able to!
About that same month ago, traded the '20 Advance for a '22 base model. Yes, I miss head-up display, parking sensors...but drove for nearly 70 years without them so that's no biggie. I DON'T miss heated steering wheel (I live in Florida!), and that inane, disturbing, adolescent-minded piped-in engine noise. The 22 model is quieter, smoother and more pleasant to drive.
Why go from Advance to Base?$?$?$?...quite a few of those $$$$ for things I don't really need...dampened suspension, 'we got to compete with the market wheels', aforementioned 'noise', etc. Thought I'd miss the 16, 19, 43, 76...whatever-way adjustable seats and they were nice, but not really...base seats fit very well, with more than ample support and adjustments. The Base has all the necessary items, safety stuff, etc. And, have driven with onboard GPS for nearly 20 years but (before trading) found Android Auto to be just fine (used it a couple times in the '20) with a couple things liked better that the built-in.

That interior is atrocious on every level. The center stack extending into the console between the seats is a horrible waste of space, these types of cars are already cramped for no reason and this is just worse. The leather color design is also pretty gross. Shame because the rest of the car seems nice.

@@TedwardDrives Yep, you have another car on preview. I wanted to see it, but in fact I saw another car in a different body

What are you talking about. The thumbnail is an Acura RDX. The video is an Acura RDX. Are you talking about the Omaze advertisement? I have no control over what TH-cam chooses for a hover over sequence on a thumbnail. That’s not our choice as creators
