There is an old Nordic tale my Great Grandma used to tell me when I was a child. She would always tell my that The Wind or the Howling Wind was the desperate cry for help from the Lost. Cursed to cry across the lands Howling in desperation for help. For they were so cold, so tired of the never ending cycle. For if they too, should suffer then you also will suffer the freezing winds for the rest of time. She would always finish the tale by saying the Goosebumps you get when you are in a windstorm was the presence of another.. She was a Scary old Woman, let me tell you.
oof i can tell. that must be really unnerving to think that the lost soul's haunt this after life and they know they'll never escape it because they knew what they did...what could they've done you ask? well...they caused sins that god couldn't bare to see...so becareful when you head out...cause you'll feel them on your shoulders and you will be haunted as well.
As a kid I used to be terrified of the cold howling wind sounds, we lived in an old wood and brick house ontop of a mountain and the wind would be tremendous up there. My room was in the northwest corner on the 3rd floor and would always catch the brute of the wind. Outside my window was 11 tall pines, roughly 70-110 feet in height and when that wind got to blowing it was something viscous, and since the wind blew right through the trees and onto my window it was very loud. I could never sleep as a kid because hearing that sound inside the total darkness of night would scare me senseless. I moved to Florida and now I miss it all entirely. I took it for granted and never truly appreciated the cold windy nights for what little they had to offer. Now I lay awake at night listening to these sounds to help me fall asleep, in hopes I'll be able to once again live back towards home and be able to really embrace all that I missed because of my childish fears. I find it ironic too that now for me to fall asleep, I find my self listening to the very thing that made me lose countless hours of sleep as a child.
As a child I always liked the sound of the wind and rain on the window. I used to sit by the window and look at the mysty mountains and trees. And I always wanted to know what is behind those mountains and the rain. When I became 18 years old I went to travel far from where I grew up. I'm 67 years old now and still traveling. Never stopped traveling. There is nothing more exciting than getting off an airplane into a new culture. Again and again. Keeps me alive, young, and happy
This reminds me of my childhood. Used to live next to the city of Saint-Peterburg, Russia. There are snowy and windy winters, I often lie in my warm bed listening to the blizzard singing outside. Felt really grateful for the warmth of the apartment that gave us shelter. Good old days.
My dad once told me when he used to work graveyard shift at night in Jerez, Zacatecas (Mexico) he used to travel through canyons during storms to get to work and he understood it was just the wind but he said there was something so ominous about the sound the wind made, he doesn’t believe in the undead but he said that some(thing) helps the wind make that noise. That scares me thinking about it
Lol someone once told me that there's a drunk person I the night at the graveyard and it was dark so they talk to each other and then one of them asked when they were born most of them says 1970's,1980's,1990's. One of the guys tho say he was born at 1850 and they laugh at him they said:stop joking, and that guy says he's not joking he said that he live just over there, the other guys was confused since in the direction he pointed at is just graveyard. But because they are drunk, they passed out but they did get his name, tomorrow in the morning they were walking around that graveyard and found a grave with that person's name.they were shocked.
Reminds me of when I was young, living way up north. Log cabin, crackling fire in the fireplace, warm and comfy, nothing electronic, whilst it was -50°f outside, kind of icy wind that would take your breath away, if you breathed to hard and if you were stupid enough to go outside without a scarf about your face. Thank you for this post, brought back some wonderful memories, of relatives long gone.
Reminds me of my old house back home, lots of high winds blowing through the rafters almost nightly, I lived near the Atlantic ocean on the east coast of Canada, beautiful.
I just love listening to this, while I’m snuggled in for the night under piles of covers all safe, warm, & cozy. My kitty seems to like it, too. She’s already sound asleep…
Best howling wind on here, reminds me of the cold winters in England in the 60s as a child, snuggled up in my mums bed,and it snowing hard and the wind howling, and my bro going out to try and do his paper round early in the morning .
@@TheRjjrjjr Wind. Nick Miller can't remember how you got there, but through squinting eyes you're able to see light. In fact, that's all you can see. The world around you is nothing but white. White specs burn your eyes as they flutter to stay open. All of a sudden something lands on your foot. You look down. Orange. You desperately try to focus on the ground. You finally see something take form. A musician's foot. You look up and are met with the beguiling smile of pop sensation Justin Bieber. He tauntingly whispers "I'm so LONELY, I'm so looooooonely"

I love listening to the wind howl it's like the music and the voice of nature and the world it's almost haunting but it's also captivating and interesting, I like walking in the winds at night and watching the clouds blow past the moon and the light disappear and reaper from behind them and create shadows in the darkness, i like listening to the trees move almost like an orchestra that stretches for miles with a sound so massive but not loud that you can almost see how small you are in comparison, I also like the feeling of the cold night air which sinks into the landscape and holds everything dormant and asleep until the next light can awaken what was always there but hiding from what covered everything watching and hearing all the things which inhabit the darkness and the cold is also interesting seeing how they move and look around and observe everything there impressive and fascinating, the night as whole can make you feel very uneasy the way it strips you of sight and how it changes everything completely to what it is at day but once you see past that you are able to see a new side of the earth that is so different from the one we know it's beautiful and i love it

I recently moved and this is exactly the noise I would hear in my old bedroom because the windows desperately needed replaced. I didn't realize that my new place wouldn't do that too and while I'm glad for better windows, I am even more glad that I found this to replace what I used to hear at night.

geez, that certainly sends a considerable amount of chills down my spine. In my 18 years of my life, that's arguably one of the most haunted noises I've ever experienced. I guarantee u that this will undoubtly scare even the most courageous, determined, curious, brave or valiant man you'll ever see. Truly inspiring in a ghost hunter perspective.
i would have said the same at your age but i doubt this would scare anyone in their older years. Life is scary you've haven't seen and heard much of it yet, son.
EXCELLENT...all the multi level wind noises without rain, or music or thunder (.Or wind interference hitting the mic lol) The audio on this is better then all the others Ive tried. EXACTLY what I was looking for!! THANK YOU!! Wish I could figure out how to make it last a few more hours
Well, I love him and I don't want to not be in a different bed. He can't help it and I don't want to make it worse. Those beautiful nature sounds are so calming and I sleep like a baby. Even though I have a lawn mower beside me:)

Ah yes on a night such as this how nice to snuggle down into the comforting warmth of your big safe bed: your "igloo" made out of thick comforters and freshly scented sheets, impervious to the howling icy storm raging a few feet away.
I love the sound. It made me feel more relaxed to sleep. I'll leave the thinking behind to settle down for the day. When I feel heat in the night here in Malaysia, I'll listen to this, it's a great makeshift for cold weather. Thank you for sharing this
Two perfect pieces of music to play alongside this: #1 Star Wars Bounty Hunter Soundtrack: Abandoned Places #2 Kingdom Hearts II.5 Soundtrack: Keyblade Graveyard
My memories with this kind of wind are lonely ones, it was my transition from being a kid to preteen. I was going around outside, looking for neighborhood kids to play with who are usually around, but not finding any. So just just walked to my school playground and sat in the slide for a while. Might have fallen asleep there, not sure, but this type of wind has always followed me in my dreams. Sometimes it turns into weird shapeless music, sometimes it just gets overwhelming (like when I have skyscraper nightmares, or dreams of getting swept away by the wind)

As it got quiet at the end, I checked that how long the video was since I didn't remember, then I realized that I listened this for an HOUR!
This sound effect is brilliant for improvisation in drama if you wish to have a cold winter scene!
This is just what I've been looking for and I bought the CD of it too.
Playing for a year now every night. 💜💖
Awesomeness :)
wow really ? its kinda creepy
marlene Tobin, I enjoy it! It reminds me of when I was a kid. Our family lived in an old farmhouse surrounded by cornfields. In the winter it would sound like this after it had snowed.
Matthew Knapp Same for me! This and distant train whistles.
Matthew Knapp I know hey !
Oh the childhood memories.
I miss it so.God bless. 🇨🇦
Awesome howlin winds! The spirits are fully alive n howlin!Spirits sound strong and free!!This vid going into favorites, cheers n happy days for you n yours
Sure love this now in snowy Nov. Lots of snow predicted for southwestern Ontario Canada. God bless all.
it sounds like choir voices, and they are singing a very pure but tormented and haunting improvisation. I can hear 3-4 parts sometimes
goognam goognws Great thanks to you I can't sleep

geez, that certainly sends a considerable amount of chills down my spine.
THANK YOU!! Wish I could figure out how to make it last a few more hours
ive heard them all and NOTHING beats this, NOTHING.
@S JLA me to luv this 👍
I always loved that sound 😊
My husband snores like a pig! So I put on my earphones and listen to this. Works every night :)
I like how you deal with situations :)
Well, I love him and I don't want to not be in a different bed. He can't help it and I don't want to make it worse. Those beautiful nature sounds are so calming and I sleep like a baby.
Even though I have a lawn mower beside me:)
That " Even though I have a lawn mower beside me" bit made me laugh so hard i cried.... I guess I laugh easily.
''I don't want to be in a different bed'' = you wanna stay in the same
''I don't want to not be in a different bed'' = you do want to be in a different bed. LUL
K4inan You don't have a great deal to do, do you?
Scary in a cool haunting way. I love the wind!
scary in a cool haunting way. love wind!
The wind, the wind, speaking to your soul.. listen to what it says...
wind staring into your soul
Ah yes on a night such as this how nice to snuggle down into the comforting warmth of your big safe bed: your "igloo" made out of thick comforters and freshly scented sheets, impervious to the howling icy storm raging a few feet away.
+bluesborn you know it.
+bluesborn hear, hear!
you got it right ;)
+bluesborn Beautifully written.
Yes, how fortunate we are if we even have homes. I never forget what a fortunate person I am.
I have large trees near my house. When it's windy it sounds just like this love it

Lol, my dad love s that game.
The only reason I got him to play a game I like is because Gerbil of Cafeteria makes an appearance

@@NostalgicMem0ries Every of us have some similar type of culture indeed.

This reminds me of the days we lived in snow love that hauling sister wind is great to comfort you
I love the sound. It made me feel more relaxed to sleep. I'll leave the thinking behind to settle down for the day. When I feel heat in the night here in Malaysia, I'll listen to this, it's a great makeshift for cold weather. Thank you for sharing this
I soo much love the environment and the soundd of nature... Amazing thank you God
Two perfect pieces of music to play alongside this:
#1 Star Wars Bounty Hunter Soundtrack: Abandoned Places
#2 Kingdom Hearts II.5 Soundtrack: Keyblade Graveyard
The wind in West Texas was a constant presence. It sounded and still sounds like this no matter the season. I loved it then and love it now.
Winter is coming.
Lol
Luv that game of thrones.....yes....
aharz1 Hopefully soon, I had enough of Summer heat waves already :)
+aharz1 Oh yeah

My memories with this kind of wind are lonely ones, it was my transition from being a kid to preteen. I was going around outside, looking for neighborhood kids to play with who are usually around, but not finding any. So just just walked to my school playground and sat in the slide for a while. Might have fallen asleep there, not sure, but this type of wind has always followed me in my dreams. Sometimes it turns into weird shapeless music, sometimes it just gets overwhelming (like when I have skyscraper nightmares, or dreams of getting swept away by the wind)
