    I bought this on VHS around 1985. This is one of the strongest sermons I have ever heard in my life!!!

    "Christ must be the final Lord, and not society, and not Caesar." This should be recited at the end of every sermon in every church.

    Where are people like this today. Thank goodness we have Paul washer and John MacArthur. But we need a Schaefer again

      Marty Roth thank you for clarifying that, Francis was a man inviting the church to the mind of Christ. I think it's a great injustice to liken him to Paul Washer and John MacArthur.

      @@martyroth2994 Pre-Milenialism is right and correct and people who hold to it are far more fundamental and radical than nominal-desise corruptet post/a-milenialists around the world. Pre-Milenialism is always anti-liberal in nature becasue of literal nature of it's egxesise in the biblie, taking God's prophecies literally; contrary post/a-milenizm is in nature liberalistic because this is based on alegorical attempt of explaining away literal passages of the nature of prophecy of the biblie.
      Claiming that Pre-Milenialism discourage involment of Christians in society is basless made up propaganda contrary to reality where post/a-milenism is center of nominality.

      Greg Bahnsen died over 25 years ago but you should definitely check out his articles, debates, sermons, and audio lectures.

      They aren't even close to the intellectual level of Schaefer. If Schaefer wasn't a Christian, he would be regarded as one of America's greatest and most prescient philosophers. He was not a preacher, although he did that from time to time. Schaefer was analyzing culture and politics and art, not only analyzing but predicting very specifically what would occur in the future.
      Those other guys are fine, but let's not compare them to Francis Schaefer. It's not apples to oranges, it's like comparing Cheetos to an aged ribeye steak.

    so much of what he said then in 1982 is happening now. for those who have doubted you only have to see how many of the prophetic promises of scripture have been fulfilled and take heed that all will be fulfilled.

    If all those calling on the name of Christ repented and actually studied His word for the purpose of obeying, then much of the evil in our nation would disappear as God would fight the enemies. I fear many of those professing are choked out by the cares of the world and will not enter the Kingdom.
    Romans 1v18-32 I believe sum up our condition as a nation and we crossed verse 28 several years ago and its manifestation is in full view as useless minds spew out immoralities and insanity across the land.

    Every generation is unprecedented and uncertain for the Christian theology. This tension must be maintained from the promise of Jesus to come back before some of his followers passed away, to this very moment. It doesn't matter that it's over 2,000 years, that's the story and that's the way it's misunderstood.
    I believe this until I was 47. For 40 years, I suffered the terrors of the thoughts of Hell without any comfort of one who would put me there if I didn't respond correctly or had misunderstood the gospel somehow. 40 years of the only life I will know, wasted on the great great grandson of Babylonian and Sumerian, myths and legends. At least I found my way out. Most of the elder ones I think will not.

    Whose idea was it to tack on a completely unnecessary and totlly annoying soundtrack behind this? Because they really need to be assigned to a department far away from producing things like this.

    Francis Schaeffer would have been wiser to concentrate on working to make the Church more authentically Christian; instead of making it politically engaged!

    • @heyman5525
      @heyman5525 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think he did though, but as soon as he made this Christian manifesto, people ran with it as something political. I think his message was immediately hijacked. IMMEDIATELY and sadly.

      @heyman5525 When Schaeffer returned to the US in the 70's ,it was for the purpose of organizing the Christian Right. He held a conference in Chattanooga where he avoided meeting with a thousand young Christians that were part of the hippy Christian movement. Shortly afterwards he was intrinsically involved in negociations with Christian fundamentalists and Reagan- Voila! The Christian Right party was born!

    One of the founding things about America is freedom of religion, not freedom of a religion. You would serve your fellow Americans by understanding this and Romans chapter 13, the entire chapter. You have your theological mandate as to how to interact with any government you find yourself under.
    Stay out of our legislative offices, you have your judge - however you see the bible, that's your judge. It is subjective coming not objective at all and it has no place in the science lab or legislation.
    "Congress shall make no law respecting (concerning, regarding) and establishment of religion ..."
    Please, learn what words mean and in the meantime, please make an attempt to correlate the Ten commandments with anything in the Constitution or it's amendments. Do so while ignoring that much of it is in contrast to 8 out of 10 of those commandments.
    You're pushing psychological poison on to women and children and not for one rejoice greatly in seeing the decline, "the falling away". It means that people are choosing rationality and looking for evidence of claims. Far from being the end, it will be a beautifully new world.

    • @M.Tanner
      @M.Tanner 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      By what authority do you speak? The answer is by your own authority.
      You are clearly an apostate by your own admissions and I can not think of a worse tragedy.
      America is declining because its history is a departure away from God and the word of God and now we may have crossed the point of no return as described in Romans 1v28-32. But then again, of those who claim to believe; only the remnant are chosen of God.

    Take a moment, read up on Frankie, screaming senior’s liberal son. It serves to cool an overly heated head. Schaefer screams for the wrong reasons: Protestant theology has fundamental flaws which he ignores.

    I have to wonder about people who talk about an entity they have no evidence for. It was a stroke I believe, that freed me from this belief and terror. It was as if the curtains were pulled back without my consent and the vague prophecies end unrighteous commandments of the Old testament, fell through the floor and have been falling ever since. I went from having panic attacks quite often throughout days and weeks, to having about one a year for the past 6 years and I sat through everyone with a smile on my face knowing exactly what it was.
    Having studied the Bible and the New testament specifically for the past 23 years, I am convinced by its own claims that tests able to be performed on , that it is utterly false across many fields of science. It is no different than the god stories it was based on in Babylon and the city-states of Sumer. In fact, I find the oldest, (the Sumerian literature), to be far more interesting than the comparative bullet points of stories throughout the first 11 chapters of genesis. Genesis chapter 12 begins with the story of a man who came from a Sumerian city-state, Ur of the - who? - Chaldeans? Maybe. The city certainly existed for more than a few hundred years but the cities original founding was among the city-states of Sumer. They are stories like other stories.
    Those who see it will be free.

      I've had the opposite journey the more I study the more i see the evidence for the reality of the scriptures. Including the 1st 11 chapters. not as just "stories" but as reality.
      If you "feel" better after leaving your faith, Ok. I can't deny that. but I always wonder about folks who say all the evidence says the bible is false. when ... if you take the time to really look... there's GROWING evidence of it's accuracy.

      Oh fuck no, you do not. You do not see that a lie is true. That's bullshit. If you truly are convinced more and more that the Bible is true the more you read it, you are a fucking more-run. If you read through it and have no questions, you truly are a dolt.@@elijahhope4581
