Hi MrCrabbing, squids are very uncertain here, some years they are millions, then other years only a few, and some years not even one squid show up. On a good year, squids can arrive sometime mid july and stay around until late Oct. Generally, our buyers quit buying before the squid leaves. The buyer's main use for squid here is for crab bait. In the past, there has been a market for squid as human consumption, (and so should it be they are great!!)

@@HOTRhuntinontherock Here in croatia, 1kg of squid reached 29 euros per 1kg, 3 years ago it was 26 euros. Octopus is 20 euros now, cuttlefish 22 euros. But 10 years ago when i was fishing, squids were 17 euros, octopus was 6 euros and cuttlefish was 10 euros. I cant believe its so cheap there, and its same atlantic red/white squid, most soft squid. Here, restaurants spend all squids in the middle of summer season and they buy imported squids from patagonia or india, they are 15 euros per kilo. Why cant someone from there make a distribution center here in central south europe, we would buy your squids for twice the price and its still a steal

i think later this spring i will make a video of how this is made but from watching this video, it should be pretty straight forward, i have 3 lines with 20-30 jiggs on each line, with weights at the bottom, and than the same thing on the other side of the boat. When the lines on one side of the boat is going down, the other lines on the other side of the boat is coming up. Its a very easy setup to make. The jiggs i use and rings on the top and bottom to connect the lines to.

@@charlieroney1008 I doubt mackerel jigs would work. These jigs I am using have no barbs, as far as i know, mackerel hooks do. I am gonna ty my best to get this video i promised as soon as possible.

That is seriously impressive, how long is your squid season do they only stay around a short while do you ever use lights to attract them.

We are getting a few, but very unpredictable, some days there a few than maybe gone for 4-5 days

How do they fall off so easily from the jigs?
The jigs are barbless and when the hooks turn sideways or upside down the squid fall off.Thanks for watching
