Per the Honda Service Manual: Drain Plug bolt: 30 N.m (22 lb-ft). Oil Filter: 26 N.m (19 lb-ft). A used drain plug gasket "never looks brand new, good" once used. Never go by how much came out but do use the level indicator which in this case is the oil level dipstick. Run the motor for 3 minutes minimum. Turn off the motor & wait approx. 2 minutes. Ensure the bike is upright, not on the side stand. Then remove and clean the dipstick of any oil. Re-insert the dipstick but do not thread it in. Remove the dipstick and see the level on the dispstick. Never add extra or too much oil. If it is overfilled drain out the excess.
I put 3.8Q in mine and the dipstick kept saying it was over the top. I took out about half a quart. The freaking dipstick still says it’s at the top. Im not screwing it in. I’m not taking any more out. Why can’t they put a little window to view the oil on these things!
Did you end up doing the full 4 quarts? I'm afraid it might be too much. Problem is I'm trying to hold the bike upright and check the oil at the same time so I'm not positive my reading is correct. Lol

Wrap aluminum foil around the exhaust first and you won’t have to clean the oil off
Without a slid plate, this has to be one of the easiest oil changes on a bike
Can you make a better clear video of how to reset after changing the oil ? Thanks

Before put the new oil filter is correct drain into engine oil.
The manual recommends 10W30? Any specific reason you used 10W40?
I have the same question. 🤔
Nice clear cut explanation and appreciate the parts links.
weird spot for the oil filter. almost impossible to avoid getting oil on the headers.
This is true…
1 piece of cardboard can do wonders for that
Use hd aluminum foil to divert the oil away from the header pipes.
Always a way to divert oil!
A bent up number plates works well too

Please close, double check the manual
Yeah it said 3.6. I ended up going over to 3.8. Now I’m wondering how worried I should be about it or not.
Thanks mate
Happy to help
where did you get the crush washers ?
thanks you for sharing this video and may I have a question what is the torque on the bottom oil drain screw? 30?

@@human1513 Thanks your for the reply:)
650 mile oil change interval? Or is this just for the first oil flush?
its supposed to be at 600 miles for first then every 4k after and valves every 16k
600 miles is just the first one
Is the oil plug magnetic? Doesn't appear to be!
Nope
Does anyone know if the HP4S oil will work for these bikes?
Maybe I would have drained the oil before pulling the filter!
I did drain the oil first… just some how left it out of the video. 12mm for drain plug
You would think….but the instructions are to take off the filter first. Crazy.
helpful video...can see paying the dealership price for this !
that sump hanging down is ridiculous
