  • Double Exposure in Snapseed app (mobile app available on both Android and iOS) is one of the tools where you unleash your creative potential. Double Exposure basically means combining two images one top of the other to get a different looking image. This video explains on how the 'blend' modes work. The six modes are Default, Lighten, Darken, Add, Subtract and Overlay. Other than the technical explanation, you can also see the modes applied on couple of examples. So watch the full video to learn how the tool works.

    A very useful illustration of Snapseed's double-exposure modes, which are among the most important features of Snapseed. Those who need more examples should search TH-cam under "blending modes in Photoshop" because Photoshop now has 27 modes and some are the same as Snapseed's. Thanks NavEdits.

    Can you get back to those adjustments on the double exposure once you have gone beyond importing it? How do you adjust opacity and change the blend modes later? Is it possible?

    • @NavEditsOfficial
      @NavEditsOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can try saving the steps in 'Looks' option below though I have found it doesn't work sometimes.

      Thank you! I don't think Snapseed has a web version. The only version it has is mobile version though there are ways for it to work on Windows systems.

    I use blend modes in Photoshop all the time. So it was helpful when you explained that Overlay is like combining Multiply and Screen. Can you say what PS blend mode the other Snapseed blend modes are like? Is Lighten like Screen and Darken like Multiply? What about Add and Subtract?

    • @NavEditsOfficial
      @NavEditsOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lighten and Darken modes are same as in Photoshop. 'Add' is same as blend mode Linear Dodge (Add) and Subtract is Linear Burn.

    • @pbziegler
      @pbziegler 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NavEditsOfficial Thanks. That's really helpful. I have been trying to figure out the different ways you use Double Explosure and the black and white masks. You do different things in the videos and then use different blend modes depending on what you are doing. Sometimes you make a mask and save it. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes you make a mask and and inverted mask (you seem to always save the inverted mask and clear it out of the stack. Then you use different blend modes when you bring in either the original image or other images. I keep watching the different videos to figure out why you choose one blend mode or another. I understand what each blend mode does--knowing how they are like PS blend modes helps. But so far, only been two days, I haven't nailed this down. It would be great if you made a video in which you use different blend modes as you bring in different images and you explain why you chose that blend mode. I think when you want to overlay the new image on the dark area you use lighten and on the light area you use darken. That is pretty clear from this video. But not sure why you choose Add or Subtract or Overlay.. But now that I know what they are I might be able to figure it out. Your use of Snapseed with pixel masks is pure genius.

    Can you explain subtract bit more. I think subtract mode is not clear. I have two images, one pure white, and one pure red. If I keep white at bottom and red at top, result is red. But if you think about it, red-white should be (255,0,0 - 255,255,255) = (0,0,0) which should be black. but resultant image is red for some reason. If I keep red at bottom and white at top, result should be (255,255,255 - 255,0,0) = (0,255,255) which is cyan, but again result is red. For some reason, I am not able to understand this mode clearly. Even if you subtract white from white, you should get black but I am getting white.
