theres no hidden meaning, no key details every half a second, no requirements for the viewer to give an insane amount of thought. its just a really fun movie and i love that about it

Honestly this movie is everything you could ever want out of one single movie. Action, comedy, romance, amazing sound track, fucking good car chases. Some of the cars are even fuckin automatic, so you don't see shifting every two seconds. Its a really fucking good movie, I think its kind of sad that its five times harder to make original shit in Hollywood because, when its good, its really good, and its new and fresh and surprising which I can't say about any franchise movie. Well done, Edgar.

I THOUGHT Baby Driver was really limp and weak.
      And SO many stupid plotholes!
      ex:
when ditching a car and switching to another, do you LEAVE THE CAR DOORS OPEN or close them? (In this movie, they repeatedly leave the doors open, to CLUE the cops that they've switched vehicles. MORONIC.)
      ex:
when doing HIGH-PROFILE crimes, would YOU only wear sunglasses as Baby does, as your "disguise" for cameras etc?
      NEVER.
These facts ALONE prove Edgar isn't very smart.
      SOOOO disappointing.

baby driver is awesome, and I mean that its one of those flicks that the more you think about it the more you love it. Edgar wright is a master along with matthew vaughn and shane black. the three best movies that I have seen in the last three yrs are the nice guys, hell or high water, and baby driver. I can tell you the WORST was the 110% predictable, corny, and forgettable Wonder Woman!
Logan was very good, but I want my movies to push the envelope further, like MAD MAX FURY ROAD.
Seeing Baby Driver this weekend. Let's hope it's ARTSY!

And I didn't even know it was him behind all these movies I've enjoyed over the years...Scott Pilgrim...Shaun of the Dead & World's End & Hot Fuzz....Baby Driver...

I can't get over the feeling that Baby Driver is technically the best film ever put together. Everything in the film is just syncretic. The action and dialogue work like music would in any normal film, the music and colour palette behave like plot.

I don't want to try and ruin or spoil anything about this movie. I freaking love it!! What Ansel said though about everything coming back around is wrong though. One section of the film doesn't with the introduction of a character played by Jon Bernthal. He comes in, does his part to further the story along, then we never see him again. I wonder if in a previous cut he came back, or Edgar intentionally left his fate open ended for a sequel later on to come back in a big way. I'm just wondering because he played a pretty decent role, and he is a pretty well known name. I know Flea had been in it to and didn't really come back around but he didn't do quite as much. Just curious about it all. Needless to say apart from that one bit the rest of this movie was fantastic, and such a joy to watch. I love Edgar trying something a bit different from his normal style. Just a whole lot of fun and really something worth seeing on multiple viewings, and getting on Blu Ray when it comes out!

    • @mateusalves9436
      @mateusalves9436 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

It does honestly, at one point Doc says that he never picks the same crew twice (wich also explain why we dont see Flea again) and also after they get paid for the first heist Joe Bernthal's character's says something like "if you dont see me again its because i died" and we dont see him again hahaha.

Like Akira Kurosawa's films where there is nothing in the scene that he didn't intend; Edgar Wright crafted "Baby Driver" as a complete and complex piece of film art. It's a film that deserves to learn about as a craft, and to watch in delight over and over again. Interviewer doesn't understand what musicals are. Sheesh. Musicals use music to drive the plot and characterization. Musical numbers don't just appear out of nowhere as a soundtrack to the action; it propels the action AND the plot. Baby Driver is such an amazing film, but it is not a musical. The music creates the environment the characters move through perhaps. So good. (And IF it were a musical, the ultimate litmus test is that my husband would NOT see it. We saw it twice. )

My problem with franchise movies is just the frequency. The original star wars trilogy came out in 1977, 1980, and 1983. That's 3 years between each movie. Giving people time to digest what they saw and build suspense for the next installment. The Force awakens came out in 2015, Rogue One came out in 2016, and now The Last Jedi is coming out in a few months! Like... guys. I like a good Star Wars movie but ease up a bit! Same with the Marvel cimematic universe. Just too many movies all at once. It's tiring. I'm getting burned out. I don't care about these characters or this universe anymore. So when a movie like Baby Driver comes out and not only is it a kick-ass heist movie with a killer soundtrack directed by someone with an amazing back-catalogue and excruitiating attention to detail, I will pay ten times over for this movie that whatever marvel or Disney decide to shovel out next. I don't care is Spider Man was a good movie, I don't care about learning about Hans Solo as a kid. and for that matter... did you know there is going to be a Big Bang Theory spin off show about Sheldon as a kid?! What the hell is that? Just franchise the freak out of everything now!

Ansel reminds me of a young & super fine Marlon Brando. The looks & sex appeal are thru the roof big time!!!! A massive talent that the big screen absolutely adores & loves!!! Can't take your eyes off of him!!!!

I Love Edgar Wrights films, i think baby driver ranks low on his list (still a good film but nowhere near as great as some of his others)
but i think he raises a point of why this film is less consequential with the Harlem Shuffle opening scene (right after the opening car chase).
it serves nearly no purpose asides from showing us he isn't 100% a criminal, something it doesn't even do well, it does make baby more likable but besides that and some nice moments for rewatches, the scene doesn't contribute to the film. i think an additional draft could have solved a lot of the story problems, especially in the third act.
Btw my Edgar Wright Film Rankings are:
    1. The Worlds End
    2. Scott Pilgrim vs The World
    3. Hot Fuzz
    4. Shawn of the Dead
    5. Baby Driver
    6. A Fistful of Fingers
Haven't seen Sparks yet but i plan to

It's more about style than substance. Looked at from that point of view it's a great film - a creative fantasy, not a crime documentary. There are holes in the plot and mistakes if you look at it from a real-world perspective. For example, why doesn't Baby pay for the four coffees in the opening dance sequence? But who cares? That's not what the film is about.
