I appreciate her efforts to ask questions that other people haven't asked dozens of times. Commenting on the costumes! Asking about the love story! Asking him about the energy at the premiere! I've been hunting Q&As about this movie and I've seen Edgar have to tell the same stories dozens of times because he always gets asked the same stuff. This is new stuff! Good stuff! Interesting stuff!
And this is why i love this interview, it's new, fun, and he seems relaxed! After when i saw this film, i dubbed Edgar Wright as my new favorite director, and he directed Scott Pilgrim before this!! I love this guy!!
So I've been a fan of Edgar Wright since Shaun of the Dead back in 2004. After I saw Hot Fuzz I needed more so I watched Spaced and all his subsequent films. I never could put my finger on what made his work stand out so much but this interview has finally made me get it. His attention to detail is stunning. The idea behind how Baby gets all his iPods and sunglasses, color coding characters... I'm starting to think this man is a genius and I'm anxiously awaiting his next film.
He's been this good from the beginning...very innovative director. Even when he was doing the British TV show 'Spaced' with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost you could see his signature style being perfected.
idk why I keep opening the comments to see people insulting the interviewer. she has good questions that lead to Edgar talking about interesting things.
I want a prequel with Buddy and Darling, that would be amazing, especially how he shares the same love for music as baby, so the movie can still have the musical theme.
1:04 "Uh...so to begin with, I wanna begin..uh...really near the beginning" homegirl seemed to be a bit nervous around there, haha. must be a big fan of him. edit (after finishing the video): no fucking way she's a fan. just a robot reading from a page
Someone told me she hates him, literally wanted to kill his kids in front of him. I don't know if it's true, but that's what I heard. Crazy, right? I don't get that anger. Let it go. Let it go.
Edgar Wright seems to be a pretty introverted guy after seeing this and a few other interviews. I would have liked to see a more energetic interviewer engage him, maybe a really passionate fan of Edgar.
I think his mood is defined by the other person's. He seems to be very good at matching the energy of whoever he's talking to, which can be very good when an interviewer is upbeat and energetic but when they have a more neutral personality he seems to emulate that as well.
Technically "reactionary" could be used to mean enthusiastic, but it's not common usage, and she's not wordsmith enough to justify breaking with protocol.
They're seated close facing the camera. It's a TV production thing combined with a personal space thing, it's just a bit of an awkward position. Check out "proximics" on wikipedia.
Is it just me or is this interviewer INCREDIBLY AWKWARD? Edgar: *long eloquent recollection of experiences on set and creating the film* Interviewer: Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.
She just seemed to wait to speak, then barely acknowledged any of his answers or cool insights and when she did she barely seemed on the same page; especially about Baby adopting identities through strangers iPods. What the fuck? I don't know if she was nervous or just a plank but I have no interest in seeing her interview true movie makers anymore. Give her Michael Bay going forward.
Thats pretty long loglines My loglines would be : Baby a getaway driver who listens to music a lot get challenged when he tries to get out with his lovely gf

she looks at her notes too much, ADHD
He's so fucking cool. I love how even when people are complimenting him, he doesn't say thank you, he just graciouslly nods in agreement like a King.

Kreed Zeln it makes me sad that he’s criminally underrated
It was a good movie and its funny that hes been thinking about this movie for 22 years and Ansel was 22 years old at the time of the filming.
I don't think a Baby Driver sequel would be a good idea. It's good as it is.
All in favour say AY!
AY!
MrZaksterTV I agree I would like to see something new.
I feel like spiritual sequel would be cool. Kinda like the Cornetto trilogy funnily enough.
The ending 30 minutes where enough to tie up the story.
I liked a lot of his movies without even knowing what he looked like this whole time lol
Where you dissapointed?
Afonso Lucas not at all
I hope he never fixes his teeth! I've thought he was a cutie for years...
one of the most innovative directors working today
somethingsoon one of ? You mean THE most i think ^^
He's been this good from the beginning...very innovative director. Even when he was doing the British TV show 'Spaced' with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost you could see his signature style being perfected.
I love this guy.
"To begin with, I want to begin really near the beginning"
So clearly I’m not the only one who was annoyed by that
A great writer, director, artist and storyteller. He seems like an all round cool guy.
turn off the refrigerator.
idk why I keep opening the comments to see people insulting the interviewer. she has good questions that lead to Edgar talking about interesting things.
Yeah, people correcting her on things like "vinyls" is so petty.
the interviewer is the worst interviewer that has ever done an interview in the history of time. Period
Baby Driver is one of the 3 best films ever made. Edgar Wright needs to make so many more films!
I've seen it 3 times and can't stop listening to the soundtrack. Most fun movie I've seen in a long time. Maybe ever.
I love how Baby Driver's international run has helped the hype stay alive a whole 2 weeks after its release. The best movie you'll see all year.
Edgar is a true pro and gentleman, this was a tough interview to sit through and he crushed it, true pro
shakenbake228 what was tough about it lmao
"tough"??
I want a prequel with Buddy and Darling, that would be amazing, especially how he shares the same love for music as baby, so the movie can still have the musical theme.
Armin Seddigh no
Armin Seddigh I'd really love to see a prequel showing some more of Baby's heists for Doc
Edgar is such a cool guy, he's rich and famous but he couldn't care less about the celebrity side of things, he's all about the movies...
1:04 "Uh...so to begin with, I wanna begin..uh...really near the beginning"

great interview and great director. dont he kinda look like max moefoe tho

You mean by american standards ie-: not loud, overbearin and rude. Believe me Edgar Wright is not introverted!
Courtney Hoffman did a great job on the outfits especially Jon hamms character's leather jacket.
& Bats jacket!
This is a brilliant film.
17:21 Wright gives her a look that says 'you don't know what 'reactionary' means, do you?'
Yes, I've noticed that too, hahaha! I believe the word she was looking for is enthusiastic.
Ed Fagan I think she did use the word right..not a Nº1 choice for the sentence but she did...right?
Technically "reactionary" could be used to mean enthusiastic, but it's not common usage, and she's not wordsmith enough to justify breaking with protocol.
Lmao
@@ThreadBomb I thought she was cool!
Edgar wright is such a legend
22 years ago loool this must be his passion project... His magnum opus
O E super late; but, that music video is in the movie!
He should direct the next Kingsman movie
Kyle Campbell you sir are a genius
notice how rarely he makes eye contact with her?
no.
They're seated close facing the camera. It's a TV production thing combined with a personal space thing, it's just a bit of an awkward position. Check out "proximics" on wikipedia.
Wright made reference that he was in Atlanta for 9 MONTHS to shoot BABY driver lol
"To begin with, I want to begin, really near the beginning..." Okay then.
Good questions!
Is it just me or is this interviewer INCREDIBLY AWKWARD?
Edgar: *long eloquent recollection of experiences on set and creating the film*
Interviewer: Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.
I liked her, I thought she was cool!
Jajajaja she said extensive 😂😂
I may go see it Tuesday.
It's just one pair of sunglasses, actually.
No? did you actually look at them they change more than that one scene in IT crowd.
This guy is going places! [Excuse the pun]
He's already there!
So he's super hot.
Stephanie Cassin Stephanie's think alike lol
must be cool to interview Edgar Wright in your pijamas
what is wrong with the audio?
Wow that's a long time ago. It's crazy how people take forever to make films. How do you speed up the process and maintain quality?
You don't. That's why films and film directors which cut corners, to save time and money, are often lack luster.
I have to see it.
I think a prequel would be cool, of baby stealing all the cars and how he got in the position he is in of being a get away driver
spehammond I really don’t think so. There is really nothing interesting about him robbing a car or two.
Vinyls is not a word baby
So to begin with, I wanna begin really near the beginning
"Red is a very Atlanta color."
Thread Bomb it is pretty much the main color here
He's British, so he actually said "Red is a very Atlanta colour"
@@atlasrises4 Thanks in no small part to the Falcons I'm guessing
to begin with, I wanna begin..really near the beginning
I love how enjoyable he is to listen to.
also the interviewer is good looking
I couldnt concentrate, when did wearing pyjama tops out in public become a thing?
GeorgeTav77 my god she is.
Johannes I think shes nice
When people ignore the fashion police ie- you!
9:16 that's soo....interesting...(she didn't understand a word of what he was saying)
Or she found it interesting, shocking, right?
What a great intetviewer, some of yall really judt cant stand women
Someone turn the air conditioner off!
That hum... nope.
Is the interviewer wearing a pajama top?
i would like to ask him why did he put the quote from Monsters Inc and whether Baby is a virgin
you can tell he's tired from the non-stop promo stuff he's had to do. definitely sleep deprived
fire your sound guy geez man
get ready for 20 minutes of awkward questions.
Edgar, one day we will get married. is my destiny.
Great movie, but then they really just had to cast Kevin Spacey...
Is this girl wearing a pajama shirt...
I'm clearly a fan boy XD
She just seemed to wait to speak, then barely acknowledged any of his answers or cool insights and when she did she barely seemed on the same page; especially about Baby adopting identities through strangers iPods. What the fuck?

I liked her, I thought she was cool!
Most journos are on drugs
is she wearing a pijama?
hope the interview goes well so I'm not completely distracted by it...
Thats pretty long loglines
My loglines would be : Baby a getaway driver who listens to music a lot get challenged when he tries to get out with his lovely gf
7:08 "You see vinyls..." Really? It's just vinyl...
I am a robot please answer all my pre written questions. I will not deviate from script or have an actual flow to a conversation. Beep bop
I liked her, I thought she was cool!
It is based on something tho, "The Driver" (1978)
I love how Edgar is so original by not being so original
Baby Driver is an epic pile of shit. I am speechless..
Two years later: Are you ready to elaborate?
click bate
10:14 Fun fact, Peter Jackson did the exact same thing with the Dwarves in The Hobbit movies.
