Was the first time in a decade someone slowed down enough to show the ghost snare positions. I appreciated that. Would love to see a deep dive on ghost snares, velocities and transient and tone shaping of them.
You are very good at breaking a complex topic down into its key elements and then explaining it step by step. It was very easy to follow along. Definitely the best beginner friendly explanation of a DnB drum pattern that I have seen. I really like that you first developed the foundation and then showed how to incorporate variations while also explaining what not to do in order to retain the DnB feel. Liked & subscribed!
Thank you so much! This is such wonderful feedback to read. It's means a lot to hear this and it motivates me to keep making more content. Thank you for taking the time to write that and for the like and sub. :)
Love it, not many good teachers on this on this youtube thing. I wanna know where the Amen break is tho. Ahem. I Am Old. When I first got into DnB in the 90s the tempo was around 163. How things change, eh? Great vid. edit; if i may, i would also suggest using 1/4 notes within those templates, so the ghost snare would be 1/4 of one step further forward, or behind, just enough to make it more full in the headspace.
Yes! Thanks so much for the comment. You can find the amen break in my breaks tutorial vid ;) Things have definitely changed from 163 that's for sure. Nice suggestion also! I love the versatility with the drum patterns in this genre.
No offense, but after watching your video i have to say: Playing around with velocity in this case like you did is worthless... you can also turn down the volumes of the different drums... velocity makes sense, when you are using it, to bring down the volumes of one kind of drum to get a more groovy pattern. This beat sounds very borin to me. Maybe it' s away to start, but it' s far away of what it should be...

I love Drum & Bass music so so much.☺️❤️
even being someone who uses FL studio, this is very helpful!
Absolutely! It's applicable across all DAW's. So glad you found it helpful.
Excellent video! Loved how you progressed the complexity throughout
Awesome as always. Clear and we'll laid out :D

I have been using Ableton for 15 years and still learned something here. How about some jungle patterns ....
Dope content, commenting for the almighty algorithm.

What are all these return tracks you have?
it's my default template for production. I normally delete them for tutorials as they're not relevant. seem to have forgotten to do so this time haha
So helpful! Thank you
You're welcome 😁
Wich monitors do you recommend for dnd producing and dnb mixing??
Hi, Ableton Beauty.
I agree, Ableton is beautiful 😍
Do you typically use swing on your drums? Not sure what the convention is for DnB.
I haven't done really tbh. I mainly get the groove from breaks or use some sample delay on percs.
You’re a saint!
haha :) thanks for the sub!
Thank you, great video.
Welcome 😊
This is amazing!!!! So simple and straigthforward....Now please do BASS patters for D&B LOL...Keep going...
Lol alright I will. Not a bad shout actually!
Yes please do this
Subbed. Wanna try some dnb this year. fingers crossed. that's the genre I first fell in love with in the early 2000s before anything else.
Hey how do you actually get onto the screen you’re on pls ?
Great content and just straight to the point on what the user needs to do.Shame you dont use fl20 as it would be extra usefull for tips.
Yeah I love Ableton so much and there's features in Live 11 that don't exist in FL studio. I'd miss them too much.
And sick tutorial
Great video (:
D n B .. does the basic beat come from Rock? Check out The Groundhogs tune Light my Light. Not denigrating this vid, she's very cool.
With drum rack shorting the midis won't do much if the sound is still evolving. Only simpler can do it
Immensely helpful
I'm glad
clear teachings as always with U ! RSPKT
Great video
Thanks!
What software do you use
Ableton Live
Thx!
