I think i'd love you to continue the same "sim" but get a different job in the same division, so perhaps you can destroy what you built, like a true villain. Would like to see the Angels
The Oakland challenge very much feels Sisyphus-ian given the world series doing sweet FA for any metric that'd increase your budgets and let the team grow and build. I'd be tempted to try and keep going, see how long (or short!) of a tail this team has for a world series window and then re-evaluate. Perhaps at that point you could expand the league and take control of a new club, stick them in the same division as Oakland and make it your destiny to stick it to the Fishers!
If it’s not too late, I think you should stay with the A’s at lest one more year to see if your budget improves. I would love to see this A’s team become a dynasty with the prospects you have coming ip the system but if you do decide to walk then I think it would be really cool to join a division rival to stick it to fisher even more.
Man it’s a tough choice. On one hand ef Jeff and how the game played out.. but on the other I love the draft picks you’ve made and would love to see them play for you. Maybe if you make the playoffs again force him to sell the team?
I’m officially caught up and would like to submit my formal application to be an unpaid intern for your Worldwide Scouting Network. I think you should continue this save but go “save” another team who doesn’t have a World Series. Always try to win the World Series with the Mariners, Rockies, Brewers, Padres and Rays.
Thanks for watching and glad to have a new member of the scouting team! Trying to bring a bunch of teams their first World Series title is a real interesting idea!
Force a sale! It’s Sell The Team in real life and everywhere until we have a real owner. Have to think slashing the budget after a Championship would be grounds for it
@@oldschoolsports The most money I could find that Fisher has paid out to a single player is $53 million (Coco Crisp) and the largest contract that has been signed in Oakland under him is totaling $33.5 to Khris Davis, but it was for 2020/21 so it was also reduced COVID salary for one year! You’ve already been paying out generational contracts for Fisher’s Oakland A’s haha
I think I’m in favor of you staying with the A’s, at least for one more year when your contract is up. Part of the challenge and the difficulty is dealing with their awful owner. Ultimately it’s your playthrough and I’ll be good with whatever you decide. I certainly understand the frustration you’re feeling after winning it all
I’m in favor of leaving Oakland and taking over my Angels. You’ll have a solid budget and you get to stay within division to see how the prospects you chose develop.
With this ownership, every season is pushing the boulder up the hill, only to watch it roll back down - this time further than where you started. Is that a challenge, or is that punishment? One way or the other, I'd love to see you break down the teams as they stand in the current sim and compare them on how challenging/fun they might be. A similar approach to your videos around the release of the game, but for the present sim could be really cool.
That's one thing I had not considered... agree they were a lot of fun... it just seems kind of soon to me to do that again... but worth thinking about!
So it sounds like you plan to stick around in that lost city of Oakland. Kind of Beane style once more, not tempted by big offers in bigger budget teams. However if you do take a shot on moving in this series I would really liked to see you move south to greener pastures in LA. Not sure if Trout is still kicking in south LA but if he is not you could try out the Angels and get that halo and Big A shining again just for wins. Understand that the tradition of lighting it only after wins has mysteriously stopped. With no Trout or at the very end of his monster contract that club could be worth a try to bring back to the light. It's been over 20 years since they won and maybe you should rename the club back to Anaheim Angels.
I think if you move teams, the angels would be good. A last chance for a title for trout if hes still there and the budget is generally better. There's also the added bonus of bein in division for some revenge
My thoughts exactly, the Angels could use a new GM after somehow wasting Trout and Ohtani. Whether that's in this save or a new one, but the aspect of leaving the A's for the Angels to shove it in John Fisher's face would be particularly fun.
Piedmont is D3 for athletics. Definitely a poor choice for Mr Raphiel in my opinion, but I am sure he will dominate massively. It'll be interesting to keep him on your list to see when or if he gets drafted in a couple years. Crazy that Andres Rojas started 7 games in high A then skipped AA and AAA and had a great year in the majors. He throws a knuckleball and a circle changeup, but his velocity is 95-97 mph. Cmon OOTP really? That is low hanging fruit. Embarrassing.
@@maxtaylor1262 He doesn't throw a fastball. His only two pitches are the knuckleball and circle change. You cannot throw a fastball with this guy in the game if you wanted to, so your comment makes no sense at all.
Am I misremembering? or was the one big bump you've gotten in this playthrough in the middle of the offseason and not at the beginning? Maybe something to think about and give it a little time this offseason to see if whatshisface changes his tune.
Good question... I know we got a real good bump after the first season, and I think you might be correct. I think about half of it was right after the season, and the other half I think when the preseason began... so maybe there is some hope. Although all the big free agents will be gone by the time that might happen!
Thank you for taking a look... a potential reunion with him is definitely on my short list of potential options as I'm thinking about free agency in a few weeks!
If you do move on, where do you go? If you wanted a big market team, you'd have taken that in the first place. Same goes for a ready made farm system. Do you really want to start at the bottom again and do another rebuilding project? That's normally what you do, but after doing it for the past five years, you might need a break from that.
-Here is how I would handle the situation: I would stay with the A's for one more year. This makes sense because your contract is up then. It also gives Fisher an opportunity to give you a boost at the start of the pre-season. . I know. Don't hold your breath. In the grand scheme of things, a $2 Million cut is negligible. If you finished fifth, you wouldn't give it a thought. Even if you got a $2 Million increase, it wouldn't make much difference. You need a $10 Million increase to see this train move in the right direction. If you don't get a bump this winter. If you get a shitty budget the following year. Or, If tight ass Fisher only offers you a one year extension, despite your success. Then I'd walk, because the budgets just aren't going to get better. The bottom line though is: Are you having fun with the save. If yes, stick with the A's. If no, move on.
Thanks for your thoughts and analysis. The fun question is an important one... I think it's yes... and no. The challenge is fun... but the challenge kind of sucks sometimes too... if that makes sense...
@@oldschoolsports I started another A's save too. So, I get the challenge part. The problem is that there never seems to be any hope of the budget situation improving. I know that its never going to be a big budget, but there has to be some hope for me to stay interested.
If you continue in this universe not with the A’s, I think another team in the same division would be a great way to stick it to Fisher. He’s become the enemy of the series for me
I'm a bit late, but I say hop into the Giants and stomp Fisher's A's until he sells. You're a WS winning manager, with a tiny budget no less, no reason to keep up with Mr. Scrooge anymore.
5:38 Excuse yourself, that guy has a .681 OPS, Endo is a slightly above average league hitter in OPS+/wRC+.
I love how Endo is now the guy everyone gets compared to when they can't hit for average at all.
The Endo Line has arrived.
He is probably the most important fictional player in this series!
I would like for you to continue with the A's. It's really difficult, no doubt, but it would be cool to restore the fan loyalty.
