    What do you think, can laser cut projects still be honorary "Cool Prints"???
    Also, thanks to GweikeCloud for sending me their laser cutter... give me ideas for the rotary unit!

      @@dwang085 I was thinking something stupid like "Hot" Prints cause lasers, but Cool Cuts would be a great name. Could pick title Cut or Prints based on what machine had the most influence on the projects involved.

    I like the lamp a lot!
    For people without fancy laser cutters, you can recycle plastic bottles to make plastic sheets, or just buy thin plastic sheets that you can cut with scissors/cutters. Just watch what kind of bulb you put in there, you don't want it to get too hot and melt your plastic!

    Oh, that hand sewing with the machine brought me back to my first sewing project! I was so scared I would ruin the fabric and I couldn't get the tension and settings right, so I made most of the dress by manually spinning the wheel. My husband at the time asked me if it was even worth buying the machine if I was going to struggle so much 😅 my hand cramped just by watching that segment!

    I was worried about the rods in the tail savers falling haha. When I was younger I had a few cheaper novelty boards with them built in, and the rods went all the way through to the top of the board, or were mounted on springs and flared at one end so they couldn't fall out. I'm glad to see the crosshatch made them stay in better, but I'm curious about the lifespan they'll have.

    • @make.anything
      @make.anything  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They'll definitely have to be swapped out after some use but that's by design to protect the life of the board itself! The solutions you mention sound interesting though, I hadn't seen those examples

    • @styxwessel5930
      @styxwessel5930 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@make.anything your design would definitely protect the deck better, the board with the springs broke really quickly. They were clearly designed for the features and not the longevity lol.

    Isn't that vent on the front meant to allow for airflow through? Fresh air in the front across the workpiece and out the ventilation? Seems like that would create better airflow.

    In one of my graphic design classes in school, we used a laser cutter to do a project in the first semester or so. I remember having to peel off some masking tape-like cover from the wood. Is this a standard thing, because I have seen a lot of TH-cam videos where no top layer is removed. I feel like it might protect the wood from burn marks left by the engraving? Please lmk!!

    • @make.anything
      @make.anything  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yea, it's standard to protect the wood, but also standard to not mask for convenience

    • @link_is_here22
      @link_is_here22 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@make.anything When you put the blue tape on some of the wood I was like “Oh that’s probably the same sort of thing”

    • @IanGrams
      @IanGrams ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're spot on about why it's used. When you engrave or cut some of the wood burned away by the laser will re-deposit around that point. You can see this as a sort of "shadow" around the edges. However if you put down some masking tape first, the burnt wood re-deposits on it and when you then peel it off it results in nice clean edges. Though as Devin showed with his pickleball paddles, a little bit of sanding can also take that thin layer off.

    Hey Devin, nice laser! I was wondering if you use my idea with the tape on wood for cleaner cuts? Anyway, I'm considering joining Twitter for Instagram so I could send you more ideas, and tell you about my idea for an automatic feeder for a 3-D pen. But would only want you to get the credit so I really don't wanna say it in this setting.
