    As a kid 50 some years ago we had something like that for putting hay up in the hay loft... Us younger boys unloaded the hay from the wagon on to the conveyor then the older boys had to stack the hey up in the loft because they were taller and stronger they could stack the bails higher... everybody had their job to do and we did it or we sure wished we had. We worked without grumbling about it. Kids now days have life so easy!!! We had our free time after all the chores were done...

I would like to see a bolt on engine cover, less hoses and more steel lines, 1/2 x1/4 bar under the chain, scissor lift with single smaller lift cyl. 2 tongue jacks for stability. fenders to keep the sun off the tires. A Stop control at the hopper. Nice work. Nothing like it out here on the Left Coast of N. CA.

    Mike, that is a very impressive elevator for a commercial fiirewood producer , but way too sophisticated for a home-owner wood splitting operation. As I mentioned earlier, I have built my own 3pt splitter and elevator. The average home owner doesn't need a 24 ft. elevator. 14' is sufficient. to load puck-ups and farm trailers. The motor and hydraulics are not needed either. On the elevator that I built, I simply wound 3/16" cable around a pipe with an old garden tractor steering wheel on the end to manually spin the shaft to raise and lower the unit, and I simply plumbed in Tees on the splitting cylinder with hoses and quick couplers to plug the hydraulic elevator motor into. The circuit going to the Pressure side of the splitting cylinder has a one way check in it so the oil can't feed the elevator when splitting blocks and on the return stroke after the cylinder is in home position oil is forced to flow to the elevator and run it while holding the lever back. Elevator is not running continuously .I only run the chain enough to move the split wood up the elevator a little at a time. This design allows me to use the single spool valve on the splitter without the need to replace and add a multi-spool hydraulic valve. My heavy block lifter is a gin pole with $50 HF winch and home brewed block grapple. .I build a lot of stuff from salvaged Kubota tractor shipping crates. that are free to me. I salvaged an old hyd motor off a junk farm feed cart ,tires and wheels and steering wheel off a junk garden tractor and bought a new detachable link hay elevator chain for my elevator. About a $150.00 total investment including welding supplies and paint to make it match my 60's vintage Case tractors. . I'm hoping to get to meet you folks at the Boonville show in Aug. What display booth will you be camped out in.------------Loren

    • @WolfeRidgeSplitters
      @WolfeRidgeSplitters 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have done that for people before with mixed results... It slows the splitter down and wants to kick the 2 stage pump into low gear. Also, if you want to just load a truck, you have the splitter in the way of the hopper.
      I feel that a self contained machine is well worth the extra $500 cost for engine, tank and pump in the long run.

    Too cool, I am so happy for you. I only wish I was there to help you. I have done a lot of firewood in the past and always enjoyed it. I may have some years on me, but I am in good shape and I don’t know quit. That one reason I admire you and Melissa so much; you guys are working fools. I am looking forward to watching you use all of this great equipment. Paul

    Wow! Time for an upgrade from your splitter to a full blown processor. If only it could Stack it Morgan Style.

    Wow, what a well built piece of equipment! I'm thinking a Wallenstein type log trailer would help greatly in getting logs out more efficiently to keep that badass splitter and conveyor running.
    The only problem I see is a new conveyor and a new saw mill, how can you play with both of these toys at the same time?? What a great problem to have.

    Holly Molly Mike! That’s huge! Now I’m afraid that you have no choice but to install the pool up by the swing set!

    These presentations just keep on getting better & better Mike. Chris is a young fella, doing well for himself too. He had humble beginnings B4 turning it into a real business operation with (7) employees, ( welders ). The build quality is just off the charts & Made in the USA! Essex Jct VT does these trade shows & I will make it, specifically to meet Chris & put my hands on the equipment. STREETRODDER summed it up perfectly, you are in need of a bldg to cover up all the equipment.
    Do I see a tour of Chris's manufacturing facility in the future?
    Bill on the Hill... :~)
