Jesus.H.Jesus is this guy a scary vilian and not because he's apparently eternal but because of how brutal he is with those he wishes to destroy. There is no wonder Tomura is the way he is...if this thing was his mentor
I remember reading the manga that this moment with All for One helping Shiguraki back up really marked how special the series was. Both in the manga and anime, this feels so much like the cliche moment when the 'real' villain takes out his bumbling subordinate only to turn the whole thing on it's head.
Here's something I just realised: The quirk is called One for All cuz it can be passed on to literally anyone so it's one quirk for all peoepl All for one is named that because all quirks for one person as he steals others quirks
One of my favorite subtle moments, is when All for One blasts All Might back, he talks about the combination of quirks he used. Realising how he's using his power and all the quirks he's collected is just such a menacing moment.
All Might wasnt the only one hurt from their last battle... a lot of people miss this, but when he tells the story you see All Might kneeling over All For One who is laid out on the floor with the top half of his head missing while in a pool of blood... so yeah....
Just shows how much Jeanist must've bled and sweat for his position as #4. All for One basically said to him "your quirk sucks, but you got so good at using what you have that THAT makes you strong". Takes a lot to impress AfO
Where to even start? All this hype, excitement, terror, tension, shear awe at the titanic clash going on... and it's not even the utter peak of that yet. Next ep is going to be epic. Also, never has being terrified looked so adorably energetic.
All For One saw the potential in Tomura to be as twisted and evil like him, after his first fight with All Might (and even before that) his body was way to much damaged and because of that he knew that he is not going to live forever anymore that's why he took Shigaraki under his care, to guide and prepare him to become his succesor. That's also why he act so nice with Tomura.
The next episode is the real emotional one. And I also have to say you're in for a Surprise! next episode. Even though you can't hear it picture Toffee saying it.

No one saved shigaraki but villain, all for one did. Shigaraki sees him as his father, hero, God. Shigaraki isnt purely evil character, he was dehumanized by All for one. And all for one sees shigaraki as his product thats why he "saved" him. He doesnt love him.

All For One cares for the well-being of his comrades, as he loathes All Might for defeating every single one of his allies as he crushed them with his fists. It was a Win-Win scenario for All For One when he corrupted Shigaraki. He gained a worthy successor, and a means to piss off All Might. If he didn’t truly care for Tomura, he wouldn’t have come and saved him and push himself to his bodily limit.

That's really a thing for all the League members, they are the cast out, broken 'rejects' whom society failed in some way. Either in failing to be there when needed like with Shigaraki, or failing to give them the help they need to deal with their quirk, or (Assuming the Dabi is a Todoroki theory is true) lifting an utter and complete shit-bag like Endeavor up on a pedestal while he treats his family like possessions. While not excusing their actions or choices to hurt others, it does seem to be that all the League members are damaged in some way.
Testy Gorilla Not many people even remember Shigaraki’s name, so I can see why people miss the few parts where All For One calls him Shimura. Reading it in the manga is a lot easier to catch because you are a lot more focused on what’s in print rather than being distracted by visual effects.
I know he's a vile supervillain but I love how All for One takes the time to evacuate his own people when the fight amps up. Most boss villains wouldn't do that. As for why he's so invested in Shigaraki? Well All Might's mentor's name was Nana Shimura and Shigaraki's real name was mentioned (in this episode) as Tenko Shimura.
Not to put a damper on how awesome the Bakugo rescue was, but after rewatching this episode I kind of realized that it wasn't a good idea. It was so insanely risky and wasn't necessary in the end. Gran Torino showed up right after they saved Bakugo. I assume Bakugo could have held out for those extra few seconds, and Gran Torino could have used his speed to rescue Bakugo.
In many ways AFO is a better teacher/mentor to shigaraki than All Might is to Deku.. like just generally speaking in their approaches and such He really is up there with the best antagonists. He's absolutely amazing even as Toga is my fav MHA villain.
