How to unlock the boot of your Jaguar XJ6/XJ8 with a drill

  • You just locked your keys in the trunk, the battery is flat and the buttons can't open the boot? In my case the latch actuator failed so the only way to open the boot was with the key which I accidentally locked inside the trunk. The only solution is to drill a hole in the boot and use a screwdriver to unlatch it which is not that scary as it sounds so let's get drilling!

    This guide is for Jaguar XJ6 and XJ8 only built between 1994-2001 where the fuel tank is in the boot behind the rear seat which means even if you have the doors open there is no access to the trunk at all.

    You can just connect a battery to the terminal leads under the hood and have enough power to open the boot with the button!

    You can go through the license plate holes with the hanger , and actuate the trunk lever , its a pain in the ass at first , but after you do it once or twice , you can do it in less then a minute !

    • @VoloKinProject
      @VoloKinProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bet you can but when I mess things up I want to sort them out immediately so that happened to be the quickest solution.

    Worked for me, battery was only 1.62 volts... no action whatsoever. Removed the license plate, drilled, pryed and it unlocked to put a charger on the battery, started and all works, only radio and other personal seating memories are gone. We have a runner again!

    So I have a question, my ‘99 jag that I had bought. The previous owner did this and ended up breaking the trunk to where it does not latch, I’m not very familiar with these cars yet. What are some parts he may have broken so I can fix this.

    • @VoloKinProject
      @VoloKinProject  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The boot latch and actuator. It's a pain to replace as you can't see how to connect the rods inside but it's doable. They all break sooner or later.

    Why didn't you jumper the bolt on the fuse box and use the button on the boot?

    • @VoloKinProject
      @VoloKinProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because the latch actuator was faulty, that's what I had been trying to replace that day.
