Heya Robert I have 07 xj8x350 The passenger wheel well harness was caught on the tire and ripped down! I had to remove the tire to unstuck it. My Question is I have 2 red and black striped wires braided that were ripped away from something I've yet to find as well as an orange wire running along side green and white wire. All the Other wires I traced for repair. Also my engine bay fuse box was damaged. Will any of same make and model work with my car?? Thanks a Heap
Hi Robert ~ Can you tell me the locations of the fuse for the radio? I had a solenoid replaced because the car wouldn't shift out of park and the speakers for the radio didn't work after the job was done. I took it back and the speakers work but the radio stays on when the car is off and has now drained the brand new battery. I'm trying to charge the battery so I can get it to another mechanic to fix the radi issue but I thought I would pull the radiation fuse so it isn't draining while I try to charge it. The car is a 2001 Vanden Plas with only 45,000 but I'm having these issues. Thanks in advance for your help. Nancy

+KayScotts Probably the same. I believe that is possible. Also, they are sensitive to the battery power so if the battery drains, a lot of stuff doesn't work properly.
The main thing is, do not disconnect the battery when the key is still in the ignition, ideally leave it for at least 10 minutes with the key out before disconnecting so everything turns off (hybernation mode), as it can damage relays.
my boot on xj8 1999 wont open, the front switch and the exterior button will not respond, my battery is fine, I disconnected it to reset but it will not respond. any thoughts thank you so much Tyrone

Hi Robert. My XJ 8 , 3.2 over here in England is have registration plate light problems. I blew a fuse trying to change the bulb but shorted somethinh. When I put a new fuse in my heater started working correctly for the first time and mt font and rear fog light now work too. The bulbs however do not work and the car has to have them working when the MOT is due in Ma. MOT Ministry of Transport test...Can you show me how to get those lights out please. I am not sure whet the problem is and I do not want to buy new expensive one if it is just a minor electrical problem....could the relays be a faaaaault.. BY THE WAY !! It is interesting that the video of the car and the instruction diagram had the battery terminals at different ends. In the video, the ground (-) terminal is closer to the rear of the car and bolted to a ground stud easily accessible on the inside of the right rear fender. Be careful to check the terminals.

Hi Robert, I've got a 1999 XJ8 and the fans have stopped working. I've changed the temp switch and powered the fans with a battery. both work. there is continuity between the fuse and the fans, and between the sensor live pin ant the fuse. but none from the negative pin from the sensor to ground. Any suggestions would be really appreciated
Thank you for your quick response Yes Robert they are, that is controlled by the sensor resistance decreasing with temperature. Its a two speed fan with a 5 pin relays . I have the suspicion its a bad earth somewhere but I cant find it. I could earth the fans at the connector at the front by the fans, but not sure if that would fix the issue
Hi Robert thanks for your quick response. Yes they should come on as the resistance at the sensor reduces with heat. I suspect a bad earth somewhere. but as there is continuity between the sensor cable and the fuse in the fuse box, but I find no continuity between the other sensor plug pin and earth so perhaps earthing the fans close to the front might, though might not fix the issue?
I sent you links to 2 videos. I am sure that one of them shows you that you should connect a power source to some connections under the hood. If that doesn't work for you, call a tow truck.

Hola, suena como una mala conexión, probablemente en el alternador, si no, entonces el alternador es defectuoso.
